If you have the audacity to get in a debate with JOHN FUCKING LENNON, i will personally slap you with the tip of my penis. Mushroom stamp the shit out of you.
It's hard to root for either side. Lennon comes off as naive to the point of ridiculousness, and Capp, as anyone would have expected, was caustic, meanspirited and nasty. It's a bad match between two extremes.
I think many of us have a mixture of Lennon's ideals and Capp's pragmatism, in different ratios.
Capp belonged to that generation of New Deal liberals who were disgusted by the rise of the New Left, viewing them as inane fools. Unfortunately, it made him a bitter curmudgeon.
Al Capp should of entered the room let rip with a monster of a fart proceeded to follow through and shat his pants , he then should of done an about turn and left the room without ever uttering a word , but a good clip all the same and it's a moment in history , thanks for posting .
The best line I have EVER heard delivered in regards to Yucko: 'I can see why you want peace, God knows you can't have much". BRILLIANT! Kudos to Capp!
Lol! I read this video as an interesting time document. John Lennon, being a lower middle class guy, sitting with the woman he loves, expressing their very progressive points of view and using their fame to proliferate, head-on with US right-winged reporters. Lets not forget, that 2 years earlier, Beatle albums were burnt in the US. It is interesting...I wonder what the response would be if Pitt and Jolie would have a Bed-In in A'dam (smoking weed looool)
Al Capp came there to instigate a verbal fight and get a rise out of Lennon, who was trying to campaign for peace. Sure, it didn't work and in retrospect he looks idiotic, but Lennon wasn't idiotic. Capp was also a Jew and he knew Lennon had taken shots against Jews. Al won this only because Lennon was holding back and unprepared. Under different circumstances Lennon would have shredded the one legged fool physically or verbally.
While it is true that Capp had the nerve to confront Lennon while most people were kissing his ass for anything he did, Lennon had to expect it because Capp was a known hater of hippies. Like most self-righteous, moralistic windbags Capp got his. In a few years he was exposed as a serial sexual harasser and was hammered with numerous trials, suits, fines and allegations.

Best part of all -- the world still celebrates and recognizes Lennon's art and contributions to culture. Capp is left in the world of irrelevant oblivion. Surely he recognized that was his fate at the time and he projected his wasted cartoons' rubbish onto the Lennons.
@MoreBarn71 ....I will be the first to admit that Lennon's legacy will live on for generations. However Al Capp's Lil' Abner sunday newspaper funnies were huge in it's day. A movie was produced based on Lil' Abner...and to this day...we still have Sadie Hawkins day....I have nothing but respect for Al's questioning Lennon's motives during this bed in.
@Fooblestheclown face it. Lennon was just an idiot who happend to be a good songwriter. Its ridiculous that people try to build him up to be something he wasn't. If Lady Gaga and Justin Beiber layed in bed for Peace, the same people who worship Lennon would laugh. lennon was a joke,
I shared a 20 minute cab ride with Al Capp back around 1972. I had no idea who he was until he introduced himself. He turned out to be the most racist, vile, human being I had personally met in my life.
Now I guess this is where we discuss conspiracy theories for the next ten pages.....every event that happens has a conspiracy theory attached to it. And if Lennon's assassination has a conspiracy to it....then he should have kept his mouth shut and stayed out of Politics like his manager Brian Epstein told him to do. And don't call me kiddie, for just having a different opinion than you...you're never going to make friends that way.
Fooblestheclown is right. You all need to stop thinking that anything that John did was right. Just take George's word for it - "even John is wrong sometimes". If you're all going to be biased with the Beatles' opinions, you're going to have to disagree with one of them, which must be hard for most of you. John even admitted that he had a big mouth, which unfortunately had him taken away from us.
Lennon at the "Time" was "Visiting" in the North America(He Lived/Resided in England.....So!!) Lennon was His(Al Capp's Guest!!)...Once again..John Winston Lennon Stretched Fay Beyond Others....
And you know another thing that bugs me about Lennon during this era? If he wanted to get involved in politics, and change the world.....why didn't he just run for office? Being a Beatle, I'm sure a lot of fans would have voted him in....then his opinion may have counted for something.
@Fooblestheclown Lennon used his tremendous influence and celebrity to "sell peace", a conceptual art installation, if you will, the sort Yoko Ono helped pioneer. If nothing else it rankled conservative minds and establishment spokespeople like Gloria Emerson and racists/sexists like Al Capp. Lennon's enormous ego was never something he denied, or hid, for crissakes, he was the biggest rock star in the world. His decision to risk it all took a lot of courage.
@mrtwang32 ....His decision to risk it all took a lot of Heroin. Capp had every right to question what the hell is going on. I'll let Kate Smith sing my songs....ha!ha!ha! Yeah!! ever hear Kate Smith sing God bless America at a Philadelphia flyer game? Wonderful! We will always have a sadie hawkins day, thanks to Al Capp. I don't think there will ever be a Don't worry Kyoko day. And so dear friends, you'll just have to carry on...the dream is over.....
@Fooblestheclown Your tiresome rants about heroin are silly. What does it have to do with anything? Al Capp was a chain smoking lecherous man. Who cares? He was also brilliant, as well as being a pig. Lennon invited the press and Capp for such a confrontation and the footage is fascinating to see a meeting of two outspoken artists (neither of whom had to "run for office" as you ridiculously suggest to make their points heard). Yoko's cutting edge music continues to challenge and inspire.
@045781 ....War is hell there is no doubt about that. Don't forget.... a lot of people died in Wars in order for bigmouths like Lennon to have the freedom to express himself like he does.
Another reason why Capp was rude to Yoko, was perhaps because of her annoying Heroin induced screaming behind the mike for which she introduced herself to the world with, at a time in which the world was still very conservative. I believe if Yoko started off with John singing songs like Sisters o sisters, a lot of people may have accepted the home wrecker. To this day....no one understands what songs like Don't worry Kyoko, and the B.side of Live peace in Toronto was all about.
@Fooblestheclown Yoko's startling avant garde rock & roll was decades ahead of its time and influenced generations of musicians, and has been documented and discussed extensively. "Don't Worry Kyoko" the B-side of "Cold Turkey" is a kick-ass record! Fortunately the ludicrousness of calling her a "home wrecker" or annoying or a heroin addict takes nothing away from her reputation as a significant experimental and confrontational artist, whose work has outlasted Lil Abner and Gloria Emerson.
@mrtwang32 ....Don't Worry Kyoko, and the B side of Live Peace in Toronto is a abomination. Holy Shit! If Heather McCartney released an album you would think it was great simply because she married a Beatle. Yoko's obnoxious rant has no artistic merit what so ever. I don't care if it inspired the B'52s to do Rock lobster. She ruined many events doing "her thing", whether it was in Toronto in 69, or on the Rolling stone Rock in roll circus, or the Mike Douglas show. You are deaf.
@mrtwang32 ....I'll take Kate Smith anytime before Yoko screaming behind a mike for half and hour. Lennon's arrogance being a Beatle made him think that he was king of the world. He failed to realize that people do have different tastes, whether it be in music or in art. Now excuse me while I go back to my Lil'Abner paperback while listing to Instant Karma.
@Fooblestheclown Curious to see examples of Lennon of failing " to realize that people have different tastes in music and art." What a silly assertion. On the contrary, Lennon was interested pushing the barriers of popular music and exploring the possibilities that mega-stardom could be used for something other than promoting soda pop and the subservience to the status quo. That is what this whole activist period was about, misfires and all. I hope this enhances your love of "Instant Karma".
@doubleugly889 No way!!!...Capp started off better but Lennon got the last word in and rolled him!!!!...Who the hell is Capp is anyway?? doesn't compare to Lennon.
Oh one more thing......Lennon invited Capp to this event. How did Lennon know Capp? Was Lennon a Lil'Abner fan? Does anyone out there know how Capp was invited to this bed in, in the first place?
When Capp points out the contradiction between Lennon's claim to be "shy", in view of the naked record cover showing his pubic hair, Lennon interrupts him and badgers him. Lennon them claims to represent the entire human race, but Capp says, "You don't represent me." Lennon complains about "taking shit" from Capp, who must point out that Lennon invited him and "has no manners at all" towards his guest.
@edpoor ....and that is the reason why Capp defeats Lennon in this debate. Just because Lennon sounds nice, and he was a Beatle....doesn't make him right all the time.
@Fooblestheclown Capp defeats lennon? what the hell are you taling about? Capp mocks lennon´s art, says that he could make money drawing him, surely like a dirty hippie (that´s mine),makes fun about his woman and doesn´t let her talk stating that she is annoying, he is extremely close minded, states that at least 3 people are english, whatever that means, I think he just makes a fool of himself, and one proud about it, all i get frome him is that he is trulya disgusting character
@johanstone .....Lennon invited Capp to this event. Lennon was humbled. Lennon was expecting nothing but praise for everything he's done in his life up to this point. I think it was good for John to finally realize that not everybody thinks he's right all the time. And just because Lennon was a Beatle, does not mean he's right all of the time....he is flawed, just like the rest of us.
@Fooblestheclown it doesnt matter who invited who, if lennon invited capp im sure he wasn´t expecting to be praised, and one thing is to criticize and a different one is to insult and denigrate lennon´s wife!, also Capp knew who was he talking to, just as lennon did. and i don´t respect lennon just for being a beatle, i respect him cause of how he thinks.
@johanstone ....Lennon's thinking was clouded by a heroin addiction around this time and Yoko was making an ass of herself by doing her obnoxious thing and screaming at concerts strictly to annoy the masses, knowing she could get away with it because she is with John, and too many people respect Lennon for just being a Beatle. It's about time someone like Capp finally just told them to shut up.
@Fooblestheclown heroin or drugs or yoko´s screaming have nothing to do with this interview, lennon doesn´t look stoned and he doesn´t sound stoned or incoherent either, and their way to do art is a matter of themselves, no one has the right to shut up anyone´s opinion or manifestation, not even and specially not capp, a conservative close minded freak that doesn´t understand the slightess abstract concept and all he does is bitch about the bible and jesus. please.
@johanstone.... It has everything to do with this interview. Sure no one has the right to shut up anyone's opinion or manifestation......but is not Capp allowed to question it? I'm now going to end this debate, and go back to reading my Lil'Abner paperback while listing to instant Karma.....bye, bye!
@Fooblestheclown J & Y knew full well they were opening themselves up for ridicule by the conservative media and right-winged celebrities like Capp. To say Capp "wins" is to agree with his assertion that the Lennons were doing this for money (absurd), and that John was ridiculous in aligning himself with Christ's persecution (alas Lennon was too right on the mark about that). Capp was a clever, talented man but also a pig. Hi remarks to and about Yoko were particularly odious.
@mrtwang32 .....Yoko screaming behind the mike during the Live peace for Toronto event was odious also. Lennon's huge ego is being exposed in this interview.....
@1365225 .....hey, I'm just looking at this clip with a open mind. I'm setting aside my Beatle bias. And Al Capp has made a few legitimate points against Mr.Fab Beatle guy.
@Fooblestheclown Yes I agree with you,(hope you don't think I don't). Just saying that I wish more Lennon fans were more opened minded like you. I love Lennon, but lets face it the guy was flawed. And is private life with Yoko was well, a mess.
@1365225 ....as I stated before...if he stayed out of politics, he probably would still be with us. In Lennon's last album, Milk and honey there is a track called I don't want to face it. He sings about dishing it out, but he just can't take it.....I don't want to face it....no,no. So in the end I believe he was fed up with trying to change the world and just wanted to get back to making music. Then Dec 8th happened.....
I love Lennon's facial reaction to 'you gotta live with that?'! It's a pure 'shit's going down' expression. If I was Lennon, I'd have knocked seven shades of shit out of that sleazy scumbag right there...
Lennon was very honest and more than fair- he was a human he could draw or speak about stuff like any other person could for fun- he never promoted violence or anything bad- even he talked abut true love not just love for fun- and its true what John said- he did represent the people who wanted peace and understanding in the world- and its true he coulda written songs or gone on vacation for fun and money- instead he played concerts only for charity ad tried to teach peace and acceptance
Capp was trying to provoke a fight so he could say, "Look at the violent people at the love in." Lennon outfoxed him. Sad so many Fox News watching lemmings think that Capp and Nixon were the good guys of that era.
stupid closed mind bastard, i think he should be having heart attacks if he can see that in this times everybody shows themselves naked hahahahaha, when he sees a playboy magazinges he gets heart attacks
@doubledogfish So what's your point? Lennon had a fling with his manager Brian Epstein...pathetic attempt to defend Lennon, if that's what you are trying to do.
For those of you who are on Al Capp's side; bear in mind he had been able to prepare what he wanted to say for as long as he wanted, Lennon just had to respond to what was said with no preparartion. Also although I'm not denying Capp was a clever guy, he was the only journalist who visited this bed-in who refused to sing on Give Peace A Chance. The only one. Possibly a bit of a grump?
@fras1812 Too bad....that's the price Lennon has to pay for getting involved in politics. Just because he sounds nice, does not mean he is right all the time. Now I'm going off to buy a Lil' Abner paperback.
@fras1812 No not controversial at all. I would love to read his FBI file and see what other left wing stuff he was into, an or funding.....has it been declassified yet?
@Fooblestheclown The non declassification of Lennon's files proves nothing more than the fact that the FBI don't want to embarass themselves by relieving how much time they put into spying on a popular musician. It was like when the police arrested Morrisssey; they were very embarassed about that.
John Lennon wrote about Angela Davis and he wrote about John Sinclair. He wrote ' Come Together' as a campaign song for Timothy Leary and then he turned around and included it on a Beatles album.
Leary felt that Lennon betrayed him for doing that. 'Luck Of the Irish' and 'Attica State' are certainly controversial songs.
Lennon expressed controversial ideas in songs that just didn't receive enough radio play.to become controversial.
@oneeightywest Come Together was written for Leary's campaign but then Leary was charged with possesion of narcotics and jailed, so his campaign was over. His involvement in politcs wasn't huge and I'm not sure if Al Capp would have listened to any of the songs you just mentioned, or even known they existed. He doesn't sound like a huge Lennon fan; more like a cynical conservative, who deals only in pragmatism not idealism. There's nothing wrong with being a dreamer!
@oneeightywest The FBI doesn't open files on people for nothing. Whether you are a liberal or a conservative, Lennon was out to get Nixon out of office by starting a concert tour against Nixon, at the same time trying to become a American citizen. What an idoit. You don't try and become a citizen of a nation while trying to overthrow it's government at the same time. To this day, I don't know how Lennon got his green card.
@Fooblestheclown the government stalked Lennon becuase he was promoting Peace and teaching about the world's problems like racism and war. The governement wanted war fr their own sake while the people suffered and tried to protests only to get peaceful protestors killed. John wrote songs- songs for Peace and love- a battle cry for the peace protestors in a way- and sued the govt. for illegally trying to deport him all because they disagreed with Lennon's peace message, sued the govt and won!
@Fooblestheclown you CAN see the file- or at least msot ofit- some is still kept by the govt as a secret because they say it woulld be dangerous to the nation to reveal it, and other documents are partly blacked out by the FBI to hide stuff. anyway, its all in a book called "Gimme Some Truth: The John Lennon FBI Files" by John Wierner. and besides the files it explains how they got the files thru a court case suing the FBi, and explains what all the technical terms mean
@QueenBeatlesWings .....are you sure you are not showing a "slight' Beatle bias? Your channel has a lot of Beatle videos on it. I'm just looking at this debate with a open mind, and I admire Al Capp for questioning their motives with this Bed in. Capp RULES! And Lennon's big mouth is probably a factor in why he's not with us anymore.
@Fooblestheclown I agree anyone has the right to question why someone is doing something. Al has the right to speak his mind and ask away, but I think insulting people and being racist to their wife isn't a very good way to ask anyone anything. John had his temper too, sure, but overall John didn't say anything really nasty, he kept it kinda funny when he finally did have to say something
''Para los nacos que nosaben ingles'' y escribe mal el nombre de John....jajajj parese que el naco es otro......and what the fuck is grong with that guy......I love what John say in the minute 3:38....por el culo hijueputa sapo de mierda!!!! te invitan y aparte vas a joder.....quien es ese pendejo de al capp.......
Al Capp is responsible for Sadie Hawkins day. What a great concept. Leave it for the women to pick their mates.....Great idea! Save us guys a lot of hassle.....Capp is a genus.
Capp should not have made that Madame Loo comment. He basically exposed himself as a bigot there....Mind you at the time Yoko was screaming behind the mike alongside Lennon during the Live peace in Toronto event....how could any person of Al Capps generation understand that Heroin induced moment? People listen to that today...and they still can't figure that out.....even if it did influence the B'52's to do Rock Lobster.
@Fooblestheclown "People listen to that today...and they still can't figure that out.....even if it did influence the B'52's to do Rock Lobster." heheh...I heard that when John Lennon heard the B52's he said,..."I gotta get old lady out on the road again...
BTW: It's Madame Nhu....Viet Nam history: Sister in law of assaissnated Prez. Diem
LOL @ the people saying Al Capp "won"! Won what exactly? the war? a goldfish??
At the end of the day John Lennon is a legend, a genius and was way ahead of his time. The Al Capp character is a nobody who managed to get into the room and wanted to make a name for himself by acting like an arrogant cock.
Typical 'square' so out of touch with the younger generation and living in a completely different universe to John. Capp represents the establishment and all that John was very much against.
@JayPC21 I believe you are showing a bias just because you are into Lennon's music. I'm just looking at this debate with a open mind. And Capp made some great points against Mr. Beatle.
@Fooblestheclown fair enough your entitled to your opinion, but I wouldn't call this a debate. The points Capp made were not particularly clever or imaginative. Yes I am a Lennon fan, and I know at the end of the day he was just a human being so it goes with out saying that of course he wasn't perfect, just like Al Capp wasn't perfect. I just think it's all to easy to pick holes and misinterperet Lennon's life. I prefer to focus on the positive aspects about him. All you need is love. Peace.
@Fooblestheclown lol @ 'Beatle Politics'... your taking this all a bit too seriously aren't you? No wonder you don't 'get' John Lennon. Oh and btw my 'all you need is love' comment was tounge in cheek. Have a sense of humour, Fooblestheclown :P
@JayPC21 I "get" John Lennon more than any devoted Beatles fan. I know he is uncircumsized because of this clip, that's for sure. I've memorized every chord he played......And I still stand for Al Capp......because I'am more open minded than you.
@Fooblestheclown *sighs* ok foobles, so you 'stand' for Al Capp.... and you assume you are more open minded than me, simply because my opinion on something is different to yours.... hmmm yeah, that's very open minded of you to judge someone based on a few youtube comments... anyway have a nice life, hugs and kisses xx
Who's to say Al Capp won? I mean, talk to any teenager on the streets and ask them "Who do you know, John Lennon or Al Capp?" and I guarantee you they'll say "John Lennon". Only goes to show that what John did was write music for the people and that music has carried on.
Capp was being a dick. What kind of person insults a woman's looks in front of her and her husband? I mean of course Lennon's going to be angry, Capp is being incredibly condescending.
al capp was hogwash anyway. thankfully, the son of a bitch was dead 10 years later.

And you know another thing that bugs me about Lennon during this era? If he wanted to get involved in politics, and change the world.....why didn't he just run for office? Being a Beatle, I'm sure a lot of fans would have voted him in....then his opinion may have counted for something.
Fooblestheclown 1 year ago
@Fooblestheclown Lennon used his tremendous influence and celebrity to "sell peace", a conceptual art installation, if you will, the sort Yoko Ono helped pioneer. If nothing else it rankled conservative minds and establishment spokespeople like Gloria Emerson and racists/sexists like Al Capp. Lennon's enormous ego was never something he denied, or hid, for crissakes, he was the biggest rock star in the world. His decision to risk it all took a lot of courage.
mrtwang32 11 months ago
@mrtwang32 ....His decision to risk it all took a lot of Heroin. Capp had every right to question what the hell is going on. I'll let Kate Smith sing my songs....ha!ha!ha! Yeah!! ever hear Kate Smith sing God bless America at a Philadelphia flyer game? Wonderful! We will always have a sadie hawkins day, thanks to Al Capp. I don't think there will ever be a Don't worry Kyoko day. And so dear friends, you'll just have to carry on...the dream is over.....
Fooblestheclown 11 months ago
@Fooblestheclown Your tiresome rants about heroin are silly. What does it have to do with anything? Al Capp was a chain smoking lecherous man. Who cares? He was also brilliant, as well as being a pig. Lennon invited the press and Capp for such a confrontation and the footage is fascinating to see a meeting of two outspoken artists (neither of whom had to "run for office" as you ridiculously suggest to make their points heard). Yoko's cutting edge music continues to challenge and inspire.

Fooblestheclown 1 year ago
@Fooblestheclown Yoko's startling avant garde rock & roll was decades ahead of its time and influenced generations of musicians, and has been documented and discussed extensively. "Don't Worry Kyoko" the B-side of "Cold Turkey" is a kick-ass record! Fortunately the ludicrousness of calling her a "home wrecker" or annoying or a heroin addict takes nothing away from her reputation as a significant experimental and confrontational artist, whose work has outlasted Lil Abner and Gloria Emerson.
mrtwang32 11 months ago
@mrtwang32 ....Don't Worry Kyoko, and the B side of Live Peace in Toronto is a abomination. Holy Shit! If Heather McCartney released an album you would think it was great simply because she married a Beatle. Yoko's obnoxious rant has no artistic merit what so ever. I don't care if it inspired the B'52s to do Rock lobster. She ruined many events doing "her thing", whether it was in Toronto in 69, or on the Rolling stone Rock in roll circus, or the Mike Douglas show. You are deaf.
Fooblestheclown 11 months ago
@Fooblestheclown By all means, enjoy your Kate Smith.
mrtwang32 11 months ago
@mrtwang32 ....I'll take Kate Smith anytime before Yoko screaming behind a mike for half and hour. Lennon's arrogance being a Beatle made him think that he was king of the world. He failed to realize that people do have different tastes, whether it be in music or in art. Now excuse me while I go back to my Lil'Abner paperback while listing to Instant Karma.
Fooblestheclown 11 months ago
@Fooblestheclown Curious to see examples of Lennon of failing " to realize that people have different tastes in music and art." What a silly assertion. On the contrary, Lennon was interested pushing the barriers of popular music and exploring the possibilities that mega-stardom could be used for something other than promoting soda pop and the subservience to the status quo. That is what this whole activist period was about, misfires and all. I hope this enhances your love of "Instant Karma".

latgrapew 1 year ago
When Capp points out the contradiction between Lennon's claim to be "shy", in view of the naked record cover showing his pubic hair, Lennon interrupts him and badgers him. Lennon them claims to represent the entire human race, but Capp says, "You don't represent me." Lennon complains about "taking shit" from Capp, who must point out that Lennon invited him and "has no manners at all" towards his guest.
edpoor 1 year ago
@edpoor ....and that is the reason why Capp defeats Lennon in this debate. Just because Lennon sounds nice, and he was a Beatle....doesn't make him right all the time.
Fooblestheclown 1 year ago
@Fooblestheclown Capp defeats lennon? what the hell are you taling about? Capp mocks lennon´s art, says that he could make money drawing him, surely like a dirty hippie (that´s mine),makes fun about his woman and doesn´t let her talk stating that she is annoying, he is extremely close minded, states that at least 3 people are english, whatever that means, I think he just makes a fool of himself, and one proud about it, all i get frome him is that he is trulya disgusting character
johanstone 1 year ago
@johanstone .....Lennon invited Capp to this event. Lennon was humbled. Lennon was expecting nothing but praise for everything he's done in his life up to this point. I think it was good for John to finally realize that not everybody thinks he's right all the time. And just because Lennon was a Beatle, does not mean he's right all of the time....he is flawed, just like the rest of us.
Fooblestheclown 1 year ago 21
@Fooblestheclown it doesnt matter who invited who, if lennon invited capp im sure he wasn´t expecting to be praised, and one thing is to criticize and a different one is to insult and denigrate lennon´s wife!, also Capp knew who was he talking to, just as lennon did. and i don´t respect lennon just for being a beatle, i respect him cause of how he thinks.
johanstone 1 year ago
@johanstone ....Lennon's thinking was clouded by a heroin addiction around this time and Yoko was making an ass of herself by doing her obnoxious thing and screaming at concerts strictly to annoy the masses, knowing she could get away with it because she is with John, and too many people respect Lennon for just being a Beatle. It's about time someone like Capp finally just told them to shut up.
Fooblestheclown 1 year ago
@Fooblestheclown heroin or drugs or yoko´s screaming have nothing to do with this interview, lennon doesn´t look stoned and he doesn´t sound stoned or incoherent either, and their way to do art is a matter of themselves, no one has the right to shut up anyone´s opinion or manifestation, not even and specially not capp, a conservative close minded freak that doesn´t understand the slightess abstract concept and all he does is bitch about the bible and jesus. please.
johanstone 1 year ago
@johanstone.... It has everything to do with this interview. Sure no one has the right to shut up anyone's opinion or manifestation......but is not Capp allowed to question it? I'm now going to end this debate, and go back to reading my Lil'Abner paperback while listing to instant Karma.....bye, bye!
Fooblestheclown 1 year ago
@Fooblestheclown J & Y knew full well they were opening themselves up for ridicule by the conservative media and right-winged celebrities like Capp. To say Capp "wins" is to agree with his assertion that the Lennons were doing this for money (absurd), and that John was ridiculous in aligning himself with Christ's persecution (alas Lennon was too right on the mark about that). Capp was a clever, talented man but also a pig. Hi remarks to and about Yoko were particularly odious.

@Fooblestheclown Yes I agree with you,(hope you don't think I don't). Just saying that I wish more Lennon fans were more opened minded like you. I love Lennon, but lets face it the guy was flawed. And is private life with Yoko was well, a mess.
1365225 11 months ago
@1365225 ....as I stated before...if he stayed out of politics, he probably would still be with us. In Lennon's last album, Milk and honey there is a track called I don't want to face it. He sings about dishing it out, but he just can't take it.....I don't want to face it....no,no. So in the end I believe he was fed up with trying to change the world and just wanted to get back to making music. Then Dec 8th happened.....

@Fooblestheclown The non declassification of Lennon's files proves nothing more than the fact that the FBI don't want to embarass themselves by relieving how much time they put into spying on a popular musician. It was like when the police arrested Morrisssey; they were very embarassed about that.

@fras1812
What the Hell are you talking about?
John Lennon wrote about Angela Davis and he wrote about John Sinclair. He wrote ' Come Together' as a campaign song for Timothy Leary and then he turned around and included it on a Beatles album.
Leary felt that Lennon betrayed him for doing that. 'Luck Of the Irish' and 'Attica State' are certainly controversial songs.
Lennon expressed controversial ideas in songs that just didn't receive enough radio play.to become controversial.
oneeightywest 1 year ago
@oneeightywest Come Together was written for Leary's campaign but then Leary was charged with possesion of narcotics and jailed, so his campaign was over. His involvement in politcs wasn't huge and I'm not sure if Al Capp would have listened to any of the songs you just mentioned, or even known they existed. He doesn't sound like a huge Lennon fan; more like a cynical conservative, who deals only in pragmatism not idealism. There's nothing wrong with being a dreamer!
fras1812 1 year ago
@oneeightywest The FBI doesn't open files on people for nothing. Whether you are a liberal or a conservative, Lennon was out to get Nixon out of office by starting a concert tour against Nixon, at the same time trying to become a American citizen. What an idoit. You don't try and become a citizen of a nation while trying to overthrow it's government at the same time. To this day, I don't know how Lennon got his green card.
Fooblestheclown 1 year ago
@Fooblestheclown the government stalked Lennon becuase he was promoting Peace and teaching about the world's problems like racism and war. The governement wanted war fr their own sake while the people suffered and tried to protests only to get peaceful protestors killed. John wrote songs- songs for Peace and love- a battle cry for the peace protestors in a way- and sued the govt. for illegally trying to deport him all because they disagreed with Lennon's peace message, sued the govt and won!
QueenBeatlesWings 1 year ago 4
@QueenBeatlesWings I would still like to see that file on him. I believe if Lennon just stayed out of politics, he would be with us today.
Fooblestheclown 1 year ago
@Fooblestheclown you CAN see the file- or at least msot ofit- some is still kept by the govt as a secret because they say it woulld be dangerous to the nation to reveal it, and other documents are partly blacked out by the FBI to hide stuff. anyway, its all in a book called "Gimme Some Truth: The John Lennon FBI Files" by John Wierner. and besides the files it explains how they got the files thru a court case suing the FBi, and explains what all the technical terms mean
QueenBeatlesWings 1 year ago
@QueenBeatlesWings .....are you sure you are not showing a "slight' Beatle bias? Your channel has a lot of Beatle videos on it. @Fooblestheclown I agree anyone has the right to question why someone is doing something.
