Becker´s service was great at that time and he beat many of the big players just by his will although his body was heavy and his feet relatively slow. But as an opponent it must have been pure stress if a powerful volley expert with 1,90m comes to the net at ANY opprtunity. I loved Becker´s playing but cared a damn about Stich an the others. I miss videos from Becker swearing, crying, praying on court, he screamed a lot during the years! :D
@alin1975 uhm...not rly...this years wimbeldon was amasing....there were many servis-voley plays, and atacking play. In the wimbeldon final this year there were not many tospin forehands, friend....tennis is better now
Sorry, but I cant agree with you. Two baseliners made it to the final. Nadal was glued to the baseline and Djokovic moved forward maybe a couple of times per set. It was characterised by the power baseline game that dominates modern tennis with very low shot-making variety (e.g. volleys, approach shots, drop shots, lobs, etc).
You know, back in the day I used to laugh at Lendl's inability to volley, but today he probably would be considered the strongest net player in the world.
@alin1975 Couldn't agree more. ATP wanted long rallies, fine, but they ended up killing serve and volley players PLUS made tennis look like it's the same match one after another. I hate the fact that we may have a new Sampras, a new Becker or a new Rafter holding his racket right now on some court somewhere but this kid will never be successful because his natural tennis instincts will be supressed and he will have to become yet another boring baseline player.
Hi guys, you were asking which match this is, I am sorry to don't have written the title.
It was Stockholm 1992.
This onen of the video is a great point of Boris and it seemed like it could change the inertia of the match but it didn't happen, Boris lost in two sets.
Anyway, Boris was coming from a bad period and with this match he started a rise up for his career, one week later he was in the final of Paris still against Goran but that time he won in two sets playing his best tennis.
excuse-me! you're right, it was at Stockholm! bercy's court was green & pink at that time...
the players used to play stockholm just one week before Bercy! at Stockholm, Goran beat Boris 7/5,6/4! Boris get even the following week at Bercy, and then won again in the masters of Franckfurt 4/6;6/4;7/6, it was a great match! Becker and Ivanisevic played great tennis in the end of 92!
goran got innocent look 0:37-0:38

You don't see that kind of tennis anymore (today's game is great, just not the same as 80s, early 90s tennis).

That was probably the longest rally of the 1980's.

Sure? I asked the person who put this up and they said Stockholm 92. Not doubting the year (judging from the hair), but now am totally confused!
