  • At Last! The Unofficial sequel to the Wallflowers' "One Headlight"!

  • What a pity to spotlight a totally competent vocalist to sing the RARELY Performed lyric version (written by Mitchell Parrish) of this Georgeous Song, and then drown her out totally by the full-volume, gung-ho orchestra, which should have carressed her during her portion of the song. Great Talent all around, but the director needs to rethink the overall arrangement. L K R in Palm Springs.
  • @orallarry DUH!!! That's because the camera mic is obviously picking this up a l0000ng way away from the source. The room PA probably picked the vocalist up and mixed it right on the money. :)

  • Ooh, I haven't had the pleasure of hearing this before... It's absolutely charming... lovely job chaps... BRAVO :0)x

  • Youtube also has a concert-band version (no vocal) of this done last year at Salem (Ohio) Country Club.

My web site is found using key words "carl moore music" and it's got a Leroy Anderson page with subpage Belle of the Ball. I'm thinking of taking a copy of that version and transposing 1/2 step down (no big deal to do) to match the concert-band performances I have found on youtube.

  • Need to correct myself: That transposition is a full step, not a half step. That FULL-STEP transposition was uploaded onto the web today.

  • That needed to be 1 step (not 1/2 step) down, and it was uploaded to the web site today.

  • Also on youtube is another concert-band rendition of this without a vocal -- Salem, Ohio (band has "Quaker City" in this name).

  • Very nice, band! My community band, the Arizona Winds, is doing this in our upcoming concert.

  • Also carried over from the Sandpaper Ballet page: I am now told this is the Greenville in SC. (I'm originally from Wilmington, Delaware, and I still live within 25 miles of there.)

  • Continued from messages left on the Sandpaper Ballet page (also by the Greenville Concert Band): Sorry I forgot to say they also did that (Sandpaper Ballet). I have commented that this (Belle of the Ball) recording brought me near tears (despite the vocal and different key, may have reminded me of hearing it VERY LONG AGO at a concert, although I have played in it in a volunteer ORCHESTRA in 1991 and again later, and have done an electronic arrangement myself.

  • thanks for this version, leroy anderson was so talented......and he gave us the most famous xmas song....sleigh ride
