I really liked that scene...my own take on it was that some of the Doctor's past selves wouldn't agree with what he was doing, seeing it as too selfish, tearing apart time and space for one woman. So he tries to stop himself doing it by shooting his future self.

Oh man! If they actually made this movie it'd be so awesome to have a total old-school action/adventure True Who twist! : Number Four meets Number Ten and decides he must dedicate the entire regeneration to the prevention of becomming "That Guy"! Then return the series back to it's roots and divert from all the kissey-poo modern romance nonsense that never should have been part of the shows continuity to begin with. Ah but we can dream, cant we?
