  • this is like the end of 2001!

  • and the live chickens head is..... OFF!

  • Grandpa Joe is the true villain of this story... He's a spy! Stealing all of Wonka's secrets.

And what have we at the end? Grandpa actually goads poor Charlie to give the gobstopper to the supposed villain and collect the reward money.

    What a sick old coot.

  • For people who are only here for the poem, here you go: 1:16

    You're welcome.

  • @solitaryfey my fav part of the movie!!!

  • i lol'd the first time i saw 2:09

  • Pendulum. That is all.

  • Have you all listened to Marilyn Mansons version? Its LESS creepy

  • trip.

  • is it raining? is it snowing? i'm on LSD is it showing? lol

  • Gene Wilder is sublime when he shouts like a crazy person. See also Young Frankenstein.

  • this part was scared the crap out of me when i was a kid, and now its the awesomest part

  • Why is it that that was the first live-action movie I ever saw yet this, nor the rest of the movie ever scared me?

  • This entire movie was fucked up, especially this scene. This always scared the shit out of me as a kid. It was also way way higher on the creepiness scale than the new one with Johnny Depp. Except kudos for using real little people in this one, and the use of the word "snozberries".

  • Hmm... I wonder if Gene Wilder could have been a awesome Doctor (Doctor Who).

Anyway this scene still makes me feel weird, just like the Pink Elephants from Dumbo, sheesh.

  • @SammEater haha, i watched it recently, looked at his outfit and thought "He could so make a Doctor"

  • this is pretty fucking scary.

  • I love how I can watch this movie over and over and still pick up little things. Case in point: Mike Teevee. I recently noticed how, true to his character, Mike views everything in his life like it's one big T.V. show. When Augustus Gloop falls into the chocolate river, Mike quips, "Man overboard!" and in this scene, he gleefully exclaims, "This is terrific!" And then watch him during Veruca's tirade in the geese room; he's resting his hands on his knees, just sitting back and enjoying the show.

  • And no one mentions this at all after this.

  • gene wilder def a better will wonka, and im a huge depp fan

  • The tunnel wasn't scary til Wonka started is little song. It's very unsettling.

  • @YoruichiHaruno think it was creepy to you? the actors reactions when he starts singing are genuine

    -from the tv tropes wiki

"For the riverboat scene, Wonka's ranting poem was not in the script, hence the disturbed looks on the actors faces, who thought Wilder was actually losing his mind."

  • @YoruichiHaruno :p it makes this seen so much better when you relize there actuly scared XD

  • "Daddy I do NOT want a boat like this"

    That's saying something

  • just as scary as it was when i was a kid

  • Smoke weed erreday

  • A freaking chicken being decapitated and a giant millipede crawling over a woman's upper lip?!!

I can care less about winning the Golden Ticket and start worrying about getting the f%&@! out of that factory alive.

  • This was so fucked up watching at like 5 yrs old lol

  • Johnny Depp would made this look creepier.

  • @unpictures1 eh I doubt it

  • Willy Wonka > Jigsaw

  • I can so see this being a ride at at theme park. Imagine going on it all drugged out!!

  • I love LSD.

  • PENDULUM FTW

  • Yep, Willy Wonka's on crack.

  • DROP ACID

  • YOU KNOW FOR KIDS AND WHAT NOT.

  • What Do You Mean It's Not For Kids?

  • If this is a Wonka tour, I'd HATE to be led on one by Walt Disney...

  • I quite fancy an Umpa powered cruiser for the summer.

  • they're trippin balls

  • scared the shit out of me .

  • I like how Pendulum used this in "Through the Loop"

  • TRIVIA:

For the riverboat scene, Wonka's ranting poem was not in the script, hence the disturbed looks on the actors faces, who thought Wilder was actually losing his mind.

  • @bjnboy Wow never knew that lol i guess 40 years later you finally know lol

  • @bjnboy

Whenever I'm scared and old, I grab the nearest non-related child and hold it towards my body like a teddy bear.

  • @bjnboy It was in the script, the poem is from the book. They were frightened because he was too convincing.

  • THROUGH THE LOOP <3<3<3

  • Look past the singing dwarves with jaundice and the constant child maulings; the fear factor in this one boils down to this scene. The single most frightening sequence in all of ’70s cinema. And we're talking about a decade that brought us The Exorcist and Alien. In one master stroke, this film says, "Hey kids, this is what dropping acid is like. The first time's free!”

  • 44 people can't handle their shit

  • 2:08 - This is what I sound like when I climax.

  • Yep, gotta to agree with Rifftrax. If an airplane pilot did this speech right before takeover, it would be the best.

  • @DeadlyGrim Takeover? I assume you meant take off?! LOL!

  • Interesting fact I just found out: In a recent interview with director Mel Stuart, he mentions that even he was surprised by the scream Willy lets out at the end of his little "speech". He knew Willy was going to go nuts in the tunnel, but he had no idea that Gene was going to get quite THAT into it and do the whole scream bit! :)

  • screw teh weird effects and pictures the scariest thing about that boat ride was wonka himself---how the hell did they make light reflect off genes eyes without any light on in the scene? o.O bricks woulda been shat right when i noticed that especially

and lol @ that putz who tried to sing along to lighten the mood at first xD

  • LOL mike tv takes his gun out & shoots hahaha

  • what the f*ckin hell?!

this is highly disturbing.......what were they thinking?!

  • 1:07 Yes that is a chicken getting fucking beheaded. WTF, Wonka, this isn't candy!

  • @strangelycutlemon Drugs're bad Wonka. Stop advertising it like candy.

  • @singletona082 LOL "He's up there, in a million pieces!" "The hell he is, Wonka. Get off the LSD."

  • One of the best scenes from this version of Willy Wonka.

  • nice

  • #1. Smoke Weed

    #2. Watch this.

    #3 Trip the F••k out

  • @latviandude You don't trip on weed, fucktard

  • @latviandude Replace #2 with "direct" and you may have how this scene was conceived...

  • @latviandude you'll get more out of shrooms for this scene

  • @latviandude Did that today.

  • @latviandude Better on shrooms.

  • @latviandude

    "Weed" "Trip"

    lol wat

  • @latviandude #1. Eat shrooms #2. Watch this #3. Die.

  • Its also strange that Charlie only reacted to Slugworth and not the other scary shit

  • There is always one point in all Gene Wilder films where he is as scary as hell!

  • Chuck Norris crapped his pants when he watched this.

  • my favorite scene. gene wilder rocked this shit.

  • What the hell.

  • what the actual fuck

  • "Now why don't they show stuff like that on TV?" ...this scene is almost never shown on TV broadcasts...

  • Omg I LOVE This Film I Think That The Remake Ruined it

  • This still freaks the crap out of me

  • wat

  • No actor can shout quite like Gene Wilder.

  • wow, I saw this as a kid and I don't remember that bit xD I musta blocked it

  • NO SMILING ON THE TEACUPS.....NO SMILING ON THE TEACUPS....

  • I'll be singing this song when I have to drive my next carpool.

  • @PureMadness ogod that would be hilarious xD

  • 1:09 ... WILLY LOMAN?! o_o

  • Comment removed

  • This is a terrifying movie this scene and the oompa loompas are so creepy, I like the remake better.

  • whats the songs name

  • @ny907 It doesn't have a name. In behind-the-scenes books and such, it is referred to simply as "Wonka's Riverboat poem".

  • this freaked me the hell out so damn bad when I saw it as a kid O.O

  • this isn't just a childrens movie... there's some seriously deep messages all throughout the whole thing

  • this is so fucking funny. it just gets more uneasing and uneasing until willy wonka is just so over the top hes just screaming at the top of his lungs. hahahahahaha classic

  • @THEVASART At the top of his lungs is right! I'm a little embarassed to admit this, but it took years before I realized that the weird, unearthly sound we hear at the end of WIlly's "act" was, in fact, him screaming! Put it this way, I haven't heard very many people scream like that. Speaking of which, I hope for Gene's sake that they didn't need to do too many takes of him screaming (talk about a great way to wind up with a sore throat and/or lose your voice)!

  • the fact that Charlie and grandpa think that this freakshow boat ride is fun is a testament to their weirdness...

seriously wonka, the fuck? what does this have to do with chocolate?

  • What's with the random chicken??

  • Haha jokes on them that wallpaper they licked was lsd.

    hahahahahahahahahahahahah

    Schnozberries my ass

  • @BRAINREMOVALDEVICE69 Er, the wallpaper bit comes AFTER the boat ride.

  • @SuperSimmerGal

    Thank you, My Mistake...

That candy those kids were eating was laced with lsd,

    hahahhahahaha Pure immagination my ass.

  • ugh, somebody go get me a gallon of orange juice asap!

  • The end is awesome XD "Any signs that they are slowing! AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHH!!!" That screech always makes me laugh XD

  • what an absolute psychopath

  • Goddamn I love this movie.

  • i'll always love this but Marilyn Mansons version kicks ass too

  • its raining right now so i said to myself heck put this song on

  • Why would anyone want candy from HIM?!?!?!

  • /watch?v=T9Z2mlnoin0

    check this out!

  • This is still just as terrifying as I remember, I am now 15.

  • it kinda seems like a metaphorical foreshadowing of the 'journey' they go on where each of them gets 'disqualified' in their own way, or maybe he's just crazy and wants to fuck with them xD

  • I thought the psychedelic stuff was over by 1971.

  • @johnny10301968 it was over by 1973

  • I was so afraid of this song when I was a kid, and even

    now that I'm 16 I still am!!!!!!

  • Each time the light flashed during it, he had a different expression on his face, that is some fucked up shit.

  • now i remember why he creeped me out as a child...

  • Only Wilder knew what was going to happen. The other actors legitimately thought he was going nuts.

  • @EGRJ

    Seriously? Dammnnn

  • @annie10103 Also, Wilder didn't tell Charlie's actor how pissed off Wonka would be during the "You LOSE!" scene, the actors weren't told about the Oompa-Loompas, or the candy room. All to make their reactions more genuine.

Source: the DVD commentary, DVD documentary, and TVTropes.

  • @EGRJ

Ahaha! That's genius! And the actors were told to stay in character all the time? That's really interesting, thanks!

  • @annie10103 They do that a lot in movies.

  • Forgot how fucking horrifying this scene was...

  • 1:15 hehe i knew dat was a gun(:

  • best scene in the movie

  • I think what creeped me out the msot about this scene was how it came after "there is no life I know to compare with your imagination" song. So this really after showing some of the greatest bits of his imagination and dreams you get his dark thoughts and nightmares which he concedes that he doesn't know where he's going.

  • i must be insaine,i laugh so hard whenever i think about this scene

  • There's no earthly way of knowing Which direction we are going There's no knowing where we're rowing Or which way the river's flowing Is it raining? Is it snowing? Is a hurricane a-blowing? Not a speck of light is showing So the danger must be growing Are the fires of Hell a-glowing? Is the grisly reaper mowing? Yes! The danger must be growing For the rowers keep on rowing And they're certainly not showing Any signs that they are slowing
  • @TheErikaBee AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH

  • @TheErikaBee This scene makes any Beatles-trippiness look like a walk in the park...

  • This used to freak the crap out of me as a kid...

  • My favorite scene!!! Especially when Gene Wilder starts screaming at the end. TOO FUNNY!!

  • Never bothered me as a child...only kinda realise how creepy it is now..Gene Wilder you brilliant man you!

  • this was horrifying as a kid, that has not changed much...

  • wheres the reversed version?

  • The "Shining" girls would have been perfect in this scene.

  • Is it weird that this was my favourite part of the movie as a child? :)

  • thumbs up if How Willy Wonka Should Have Ended brought you here

  • this made me want to rewatch this movie XD

  • 1:16 Mike Teevee tries to shoot wonka

  • @xXTunerx7Xx and you blame him because

  • somebody should put this in g major

  • Also, Pendulum- Through the Loop

  • I think there's something more than cocoa in willy wonka's chocolate

  • 2:09 - will smith scream

  • This is some fucked up shit.

  • so creepy

  • BIG LIPPED ALLIGATOR MOMENT

  • I recite this entire thing whenever I go on rides that involve spinning, like the Tilt a Whirl. Complete with screaming.

  • when I take one long look at the loompa in the hat, I no longer fear death

  • And this, kids, is why you shouldn't drop acid.

  • I love mike's mom at 1:43

  • this is the reason this is on the most scariest movies in the world list

  • @xokaterirosex3 he pretended ti want to steal wonkas formula, but it turns out he works out for wonka himself

  • To be honest I didn't get this scene. I didn't scare me it was just so random. The same with his outburst to charlie at the end. That didn't scare but I was affronted to think Wonka could be such a dick when all charlie and grandpa did was fly around the room, burp a bit and then come down. How much cleaning did the oompa loompas really need to do in there afterwards? It wasn't like they were at music festival and left shit down the walls. I bet some lazy arse Oompa Loompa bitched.

  • did anyone else see the chicken getting its head cut off?

  • that scared the fuck out of me.....no wonder this was in the top 50 scariest movies of all time....-_-

  • This scared me shitless as a kid.

  • I was pissing my self as a kid.

  • "Now why don't they show stuff like this on TV?"

I agree little guy, tv sucks anymore.

  • This wasn't scary; Snooki was no where to be found.

  • thats is another reason why i like this movie more than the other version...

  • I'm screaming in terror and laughing my head off...is that normal?

  • @TLSoulDude yes

  • wonkas a badass

  • Open up this fucking door! MOMMY!!!!!

  • chicken gets its head cut off!!! thought this was a kids movie????

  • i want the train conductor to sing this song when we enter a tunnel

  • huh huh.............. he's singing

  • this part is so hilarious i was never scared of it

    2:09 WOHH-AHHH

  • You don't see stuff like this in movies that kids watch anymore these days.

  • BIG-LIPPED ALLIGATOR MOMENT!

  • Charlie and his grandad, "Oh this is fun!" stop bullshitting you know it was horrible.
