There are many documented accounts of Black Confederates, not only from the Confederate side, but Union sources also, including Fredrick Douglass himself, who used them as a perfect example for urging the enlisting of African Americans in the Union Army.
Furthermore, most of the Black Confederates volunteered to stay of their own free will, many of them were freed men who joined as cooks and body servants and who joined in the fight.

The American flag has more claim to that than the Confederate flag does. Here are the facts (if you care about them at all):
Under the US Flag for 220 years there has been slavery (87 of those years compared to just 4 under the battle flag). The US was founded by a treasonous and armed rebellion against British authority (from one point of view) and under the flag hundreds of Native and African Americans were murdered and enslaved.
