  • Dear Canon you publicly advertise your cameras, XSI here in the most deceiving and misleading way!!! Any Newbie who doesn't know the first thing about photography thinks after seeing this, "Wow my 450D I am planning getting will take really cool pics and the shutter speed, wow." That is false advertising dear Canon Inc.

  • this has nothing to do with the Rebel series cameras.

  • what song was used in this commercial?

  • They're not portraying any particular quality, speed or feature of the camera. It's a bunch of pictures and any one of them could have been taken by the camera being advertised. Regardless, this is one of the most amazing commercials ever made. The music is awesome, it's just plain cool.

  • The commercial is deceiving because it makes you believe that the pics were taken by rebels but in fact were actually high end !D Mark systems.

  • @heeroyuy9z was thinking the same

  • Canon is so slimy for doing this... they even bundled their flagship pro models up when it got little wet...

  • lol love how they dont used the advertised camera for the commercial hot damn lol just listen to those shutters.

  • @shrimpinpat they even say that they werent using them

  • amazing work.

  • Hello . I would like know name of photo software used in this movie , if someone know him please say . Thank's

  • @IllusionHawk They used Adobe Photoshop and Apple Aperture to edit the pictures.

They used Apple Final Cut Pro to edit the commercial.

  • Was this add actually done with canon rebel XSI cameras?

  • Hmmm - the commercial says that photgraphy is a journey, every journey has to be started somewhere. Jouney with photography can be started with Canon 450d/rebel XSI (the same camera, different names)as it can shoot very good photos, It is said at the end.

  • no they used canon 1d mark 3's

  • no shit

  • LOL so they didnt use the xsi for the commercial

  • hahaha are they even allowed to do that? so deceiving. they used one of the most expensive DSLR's they make. wow.

  • This commercial and behind the scene video gave me so much inspiration! It's the love of photography that dives us all!

    <3 my 450D =]

  • no love for the music though, that's a shame, that really makes the commercial

  • whoops

  • Wow I love all the shutter noises.

    1:16

    Wow.

    Getting it next week.

  • Go coach Hess

  • that was cool. I couldn't believe that guy was working with 60,000 shots

  • love this comercial

  • haha~~they are cheating..didn't even use the XSi

  • ... although I am let down that the Rebel XSi was not used.

  • probably the only reason they didnt use the XSI is because its fps is 3.5. And they wanted to get many pictures. The 1D marksman 3 has like a 6.5 or 10 fps or something like that.

  • Yeah, it was kind of misleading. Like mossimiller said, FPS is probably the only limitation. The XSi's capable of taking fantastic pictures, and even if they were that much better than the 1D mk III's, they probably wouldn't even be noticeable on TV.

In my opinion, they should've noted that the XSi itself was not used.

  • Keep in mind though, even though the XSi is capable of great photographs, a Holga is capable of great photographs, and now that you've seen the behind the scenes, think how much money Canon is spending on this ad campaign. Wouldn't they pull out all the stops and use the best gear that Canon can supply? Hell they're spending all this money on the fog machines, and the employees and actors, why not pull 10 Mk3s, and 10 24-70 L from Canon HQ and use them.

  • Well, isn't the idea of this advert to sell their Rebel XSi model? A bit deceiving if they were to shoot the advert with Mk3s and say that the XSi is capable of great photos, yet none of them would be shown.

  • Isn't that the case with ALL advertising? If you think about it all the photographs on the camera packaging generally shot with the best cameras at there disposal. What about makeup, lotion, and shampoo commercials? Will you really look as beautiful as those models that they use? Probably not. Its advertising and the most bang for your buck.

  • So you're saying they *should* be use Mk3s to shoot this advert and not XSis? I fail to see your point here.

  • Yes, they advertise lotions, creams, and shampoos with models, same with clothing. They use the nicest things they have to advertise, in the case with cameras, they will use the best cameras they have, in the case of lotions, creams, and clothing they use models. I guess my main point is that it would not be smart to a consumer grade camera to shoot an expensive advertising campaign. You wouldn't use an amateur model to do a clothing advertising campaign.

  • azndeadman you don't make sense. you're missing the whole point. yes they do use models on lotion chimerical but regardless of how beautiful they are, they still apply the lotion advertised and most of the time use more than one model. I think it's refreshing that not all company's are lying bastards. the camera is actually very capable anyway. you don't always need the most expensive equipment to get great results.

  • It's still a similar point though, and I'm not knocking the Xsi, its a great camera. A lot of the makeup companies insinuate that you will look beautiful with this makeup, or your hair will look great and use models to exemplify the makeup/hair care products, and if you apply lotion the same way you also take a picture with both cameras the same way, you press the shutter release button. Also Canon never says what camera they used to take said pictures so they never lied.

  • I totally agree though that you don't need the most expensive equipment to get great results, the greatest photographers of the bast and still today use fully manual film Leicas and they produce fantastic works of art. However, since the XSI is limited to 3 (or 4) FPS, producing the same advertisement would take more manpower and more people and more time which would then increase the budget.

  • You can't really make this commercial with xsi. It's not fast enough for it and night shots in the rain wouldn't look that good. And the point is not to make people believe that it was made with xsi but to show what photography can do and if someone wants to be able to do the same but doesn't know how, then xsi is a good way to start.

  • they shoulda shot all the pics with the xsi and at the end of the commercial they would put "pics taken with the xsi"

  • All this pics have been taken with 1D's right.

No matter I love this commercial.

  • I got an XSi and I love it. I bought a 50mm f/1.8 MK1, the one mounted on metal. It's super-tough and it's taking great pix. I'm really impressed with it. It's amazing to be able to shoot commercial-quality shots from Canon's little baby dSLR. This camera is truly a gift to the beginning photographer.

  • lmao. . .gotta love that this commercial was for the xsi. . .when none of the shots were even taken with the xsi.

    . . .

still an amazing commercial, and i enjoyed this behind the scenes :) thanks for the upload.

  • well, people dont know that it wasnt taken with the XSI, and people only see the commercial and think its the XSI. good point though.

  • I just got an Canon EOS Rebel XSI.

  • so did i, its hella bomb

  • it is really awsome, you get any other lenses??
