Initially I assumed I heard Judy Collins here. Later in the song, you can detect Mary's Welsh accent. Very, very good version. I think it's the best compromise between the solemn Joni Mitchell version and the upbeat Judy Collins version.

THIS IS Mary Hopkin not Judy Collins however Judy and Joan was Mary's childhod idols and I once played an LP by Judy as well as an album by Mary to an American lady who couldn't tell any difference between their voices but I can!!

This is really good, Mary has an amazing voice.

At the time everyone I knew who'd heard her sing said it was without doubt *the* best rendition they'd heard... and to me it is still the best.

Her voice had such a clear tone and her delivery is so confident and vibrant that even within sound quality this bad she still sings like an angel. Almost in tears.

She was just 20 then and I so wish she'd not gone off to get married and all bar abandoned her pop career.

For me tho, her best song tho is still "Goodbye". Pure magic.

Have to admit that close second on 'Recollections' for me is the lovely 'Quiet Moments'. Just love the backing vocals. Also I do like Mary's version of 'Pefect Love'. My fave tracks from 'Valentine' are 'Sometimes It's Not Enough' and 'Never Turn Your Back On Mother Earth'. I remember Mary's angelic vocals on Tom Paxton's 'Peace Will Come' (which I once sang with my sister) and 'What A Friend You Are'. Lovely memories Take care Phil

Did you know that in October 12th 1990Mary appeared in a Charity Concert to Save The Regal Cinema in Henely on Thames it was held at the Kenton Theatre in Henley she was part of a 'Super Group' calling themselves the "Thames Valley Gang" which included

This really is a beautiful version of one of the most wonderful songs ever. I would love to hear Mary record this song on a future album. How about a new CD of Mary's cover versions. Love to hear 'You've Got A Friend' 'Somedays Are Diamonds' 'Forever Young' 'Sounds of Silence' and i'm sure Mary would do justice to 'Bridge Over Troubled Water' and ABBA's 'The Way Old Friends Do'. Mary Hopkin has been blessed with an amazing voice.

Mary Hopkin was/is a very gifted singer. I remember the day her first album was released and I bought it in a record store. I had NO idea who she was, only that she recorded on Apple so I was curious. Boy, was I surprised when I heard her unique and beautiful voice fill my bedroom.I suspect she will be remembered and listened to long after the current crop of pop singers have faded away. Listening to her takes me back to a beautiful time when pop singers could actually sing.

Mary appeared singing "Plaisir d'Amour" at her live in Osaka Expo'70, that meant introducing herself.

Then she chose "Both side now" as the first song there.

This song was released on Joni Mitchells "Clouds" in 1969 and I heard Mary sing it on a TV show I think it was 1970 and introduced it as "Clouds" not "Both Sides now" I think "Goodbye" would have been already selected by then as a release but who knows.

I much prefer Mary's version to Judy Collins though. Have you ever heard Anne Murray sing this, she does a lovely version of the song
