Actually Koreans are exposed to a lot of crap when they grow up. Their culture is just different because there respect is even more of a part of life than in the bronx ever!
He hits it on the mark. I'm so proud & fortunate that I, myself, was able to be a part of Hip Hop during the late 70's & 80's, it's great memories embedded in my mind forever.
I Think its great to see pioneers like that come out and preach about where the dance came from...But I think that that the term bboy has evolved since its early days...Like Icey ice said back then it was about total confrontation but believe that our generation is seeing the dance evolve into the next step, where we share with eachother so the dance can keep evolving,as well as our commitment to compete...leaving behind the bad aspects and progressing to a more enlightened state.
thats deep. but i think we can find that a lot of bboys, although not growing up in the projects, can relate to this urge to gain respect. Myself included, growing up i was the skinny kid who always got disrespect simply coz of that, but in 7th grade(10 years ago)i picked up breakin and started to see respect from my peers. it was, and still is my ultimate desire in this world, as a bboy and a person
with that said, i do agree with u on progessing to a more spiritual sense of unity
How cool to find an interview with him. "a lot of breakdancers just a few b-boys" Very truth. Better a few well done moves than tons of poorly done ones.
Hahaha i'll never forget i was at this Jam, and i think steelo was the MC.
He said, "All my breakdancers make some noise!!!"
surprisingly a firm amount of people made noise
Then he said, "Now let me hear my BBOYS!!"
And there was a roar within the crowd...
hahaha
