In the sporting world ergogenic aids are often misused to enhance athletic performance. Athletes with HCM are very vulnerable to the dangers of performance enhancing substances. Anabolic-androgenic steroids (AAS) and ephedrine seem to be among the riskiest substances for athletes with HCM.
ive mentioned this before but taking that long with 405 is pretty lame he was one of the strongest men in the world so he should be repping out like that with 6 plates a side see derik farnsworth blasting out 30 reps with that (in half the time)
I kinda, sorta have to agree with you. Back in college I had a buddy - 5'11", 205lbs - who used to blast out 315 for 3 sets of 16 on light days, and 405 for 4 sets of 8 on heavy days. No knee wraps, and no bouncing at the bottom for momentum either.
Jesse's feat is still pretty amazing, he does the first six reps in short order - but the rest, with the extended rest periods in between - is like 14 sets of 1 rep.
He died of heart failure during a workout. He did a huge superset with squats, tire then the atlas stones. The last stone just happened to be to much for his heart to handle.
R.I.P. Jesse, you were an inspiration to me in many ways.

High reps with heavy weight = Heart attack. That set lasted way too long. Scary.
nicholasbrunello 3 years ago
High reps with heavy weight doesn't cause heart attacks; the man had a genetic heart condition!
Schwarzalbenheimen 3 years ago 2
Yeah, a lot of people have genetic heart conditions. It's not a rare scenario.
nicholasbrunello 3 years ago
his heart never stopped growing, thats the reason why he died, not high reps with heavy weight
Warsheeper 3 years ago

it was when he was doing his training he died of a genetic enlarged heart caued by anabolic steriods
scottefenderman 4 years ago
You just said genetic enlarged, I highly doubt it was caused by any anabolics.
VitaminJ 3 years ago 8
it was look it up on google.
scotte1908 3 years ago
He died from hypertrophic cardiomyopathy, which is attributed from birth. Google it, and you'll find no Anabolic correlations to such.
