@cathapologist There is more than one way to understand the Bible you know. Perhaps you disagree, but Catholics don't have a monopoly on heurmeneutics and exegesis. Modern Biblical scholarship and its related disciplines are often at odds with Catholic interpretations, too. Granted, you're paying for Catholic schools and expect adherence to Catholic dogma in parishes, but it seems to me a more open-minded approach would be beneficial. I suspect you won't agree though.
@misterzonker2584 "Catholics don't have a monopoly on heurmeneutics and exegesis."
Maybe not, but we have a monopoly on the truth. There can only be one truth, and yet there are thousands of Protestant churches all proclaiming their own version of truth.

"There is more than one way to understand the Bible"
Maybe, but obviously only one understanding is correct. It is a Catholic book. So who better to tell us what it means but the Church Christ established with the authority to do so.
Even though I am Eastern Orthodox , I never fail to learn something from Doctor Hahn ..

How can we get Catholic Schools and Parishes that are often staffed by liberals and dissenters to get good books to the kids?
CaliforniaCatholic 1 year ago
@CaliforniaCatholic What makes you think there are dissenters in the ranks?

@misterzonker2584 SAcred Scripture assures us that there will be. Read the Parables of the Kingdom in Matthew 13.

@CaliforniaCatholic I think the only thing you can do is teach the kids to seek out good books and make sure they are available in the libraries.
