This disaster is a Super Well. They drilled down some 30,000 to 40,000 feet below the sea bed and hit pressures from 20,000 to 70,000 PSI. I can answer that for ya - the Gulf of Mex. is finished. It will be such a blow to the ecosystem of the gulf coast and islands, that future storms will not only be intensified (due to destabilized pressure from the massive oil-water mixture), the oil is currently, and will continue to eat away at the wetlands that protect the inland industrial and residential zones. There will be nothing to stand in the way of an extremely pissed-off mother nature.

the money they are promising us is the same money responsible for the largest oil spill ever. we need to put this in perspective. there has been a release of nearly 420,000 tons of oil and it continues. exxon was 42,000 tons. I'm a native choctaw, and I'm going to fight. we all are. right?!?

BP (I think) could have had this resolved already. It's all about money. They'd rather waste VALUABLE time drilling another valve so they can get more oil then to manufacture a containment object. It's so sad, I don't think anyone can even comprehend how much damage is being done, and I'm anything but an environmentalist.
