  • All the single layers, all the single layers!!!

  • Thanks for the how-to AND the humor, Chef John!

  • I had a tiring day but this video totally put a smile on my face - thanks Chef John! Can't wait to try out this recipe ^_^ All the single layers, all the single layers~~~

  • All the single layers all the single layers ♪ lol! I love this guy! xD

  • why don't you show is your face?

  • you shouldnt hhave used olive oil the taste is too strong and has a nasty after taste, and you should have put some of the actual garlic into it as well

  • Oh Chef John, all your single layers made me laugh. Happy New Year buddy!

  • Is that t magic?

  • I love your spin on cooking at first it seems like it will be boring (sorry) but all the little quips make it enjoyable to watch

  • hahaha you're hilarious! all the single layers all the single layers!

  • man i allways feel like they hardly give you any croutons in those bags at athe store, plus i like mine small, so cudos!

  • Can i still make it even with out chest hair?

  • @mark2458 no.

  • Love the chest hair showing tip!!! Lolz

  • fuckin faggot like are you guys serious

  • wow

  • people are stupid for thumbing up 2 comments that are identical

  • love your channel! lol having comedy in a cooking video!

  • croutons vs chips hmmmm chips win by a little but croutons i can make so its a tye

  • Dude you're a riot.

  • i'm a girl, i don't have chest hair, does that mean my croutons won't turn out like this D:

  • 13 people who dislliked this video are not single layers LOLs!

  • I'm french and no offense Chef John (i love your videos), but your 'french baguette' looks horrible. The crust should be crispy, the soft part should be aerated. But I don't have any doubts your croûtons' taste, don't get me wrong.

  • @HyouriChan He said to use 'day old baguettes,' so, (I'm Canadian and I have no idea what a baguette supposed to look like) maybe the baguette would look harder and more firm when it is a day old, instead of fresh, which is what he used.

  • @HyouriChan

All bread is soft in the USA. They aren't used to crispy bread.

  • hmmmmmmmmm.... yammmi

  • Does anyone else eat croutons as chips? They're awesome.

  • @ElBarto3131 yep :)

  • @ElBarto3131 In fact, if you eat the croutons as it shows in the video, I personally think it is much better then chips!

  • Just made these.... so good

  • i have the white v neck...but no chest hair ;_ (

  • you should do a baguette recipe!

  • Man those croutons look good enough to eat by themselves!

  • you sound pretty good when singing!

  • I hate everything deepfried lol

  • a good cruton should not go soggy when it cools down, quite the opposite it should go even harder. I wouldn't use anything other than very stale bread. Has to be stale, which is great because it gives you a reason to use left over bread instead of putting it in the bin which is why crutons were invented in the first place.

  • @shaunberry1982 The only reason he said it'd go soggy is because the heat would cause condensation and steam, which the croutons would soak up, making them soggy. He said they'd be fine if they cooled down.

  • @peoplecallmeagoth ah ok:P

  • hahahahahhahahahah @ "all the single layers" hahahahhahahahahhahahahahahah

  • can i use vegatable oil :o?

  • can i use vegatable oil :o?

  • aaaw man i hate it when my croutons are soggy... have you guys ever had a soggy biscuit?Itss a purported male masturbation game which originated from the United Kingdom in which the participants stand around a biscuit masturbating until ejaculating on to it; the last person to do so must eat the biscui

  • Damm!!!! Did you ever play that game?

  • Dude, seriously - that was so entertaining! Yes, the single ladies as well as the v-neck. I also appreciated the "do what I say, not what I wish I did" those are so critical because recipes never say that!!! It's better to have you learn the hard way for us! :) Keep 'em coming! How about some awesome caesar salad dressing with the croutons!?!?

  • thanks

  • YOU ARE THE FUCKING BEST EVER!

  • Sexy chest hair!!!!!!

  • These were very yummy but took longer in my oven -- will turn on convection next time and try again. Also, one half cup of oil was TOO much for 8oz of stale whole wheat bread that I used. I didn't do the second parm. add and they were 100% DELISH

  • dude you rock.. love the way you cook.

  • Thumbs up for the chest hair!!!

  • CHEF JOHN IS A CULINARY GANGSTA

  • BWAHAHAHAHAAHA

  • This video takes way too long to load.

  • V-neck + chesthair = WIN

  • LOL I love this chef!!

  • I love this guy!!! his food looks so good and hes soo funny. And hott ^_^

  • can these be stored, let's say, in an air-tight glass jar???

  • props, this was a great video.

  • 2:22 is hilarious ....gonagidigidi close

  • chef can it be made with whole wheat bread?

  • Does everyone in america pronounce "herbs" as "erbs" without the h, or is it just Chef John? Or just a certain dialect? I dont know :p

  • @fizzletto3

Americans pronounce it as erb and Brits pronounce it as herbs. It's not much of a difference.

  • @blackchilliwing Oh really! That's interesting.. I thought he was just being lazy with his pronunciation!

  • you rule man :D

  • big thumbs up from me

  • Man that looks awesome!

  • "not the stuff in the green canister please" :)

  • I made these, used them immediately in your parmesan chicken bake (which I love), and then put the rest in a salad. I didn't even have to turn off the oven.

  • Thank You for this entertaining as well as informative video!

  • all the single layers, all the single layers ....lmao

  • "With some chest hair showing"...LOL. Great video! Thanks.

  • haha ur my fave chef!

    alll my single layers

  • i made these. the taste was very very good except the baking time is way too long. they were way too crunchy almost like eating a rock. all the ingredients are perfect but i recommend tone down the total baking time for this. id say 10 minutes the first time, then another 10 minutes, and finish for another 5 minutes.

  • pay close attention to the recipe, folks. i made them exactly as described, except i have no chest hair and i wore a crew neck t-shirt when making the croutons. you guessed it...they didn't turn out.

  • Ha, I made almost the same recipe today! Except I pan fried instead of baking, so my croutons weren't quite as crunchy.<3

How long can you store these?

  • they are just in at the moment. i didnt have italian herb mix so i just used some oregano, parsley, rosemary and a couple of others.

i just realized i put 1/2 teaspoon of the italian mix and 1/2 teaspoon of paprika and 1/2 teaspoon of cayenne. OOPS (this is what happens after youve had a few beers.

well see how these turn out. i just popped them in the oven.

  • The V neck and chest hair make all the difference

  • Amazing!

  • awesomeee. :D

  • the baguet u use looks very soft. It should be more hard, I think.

    moreover, nice recipe~

  • he said he should have used day old instead of fresh.

  • yup, I know.. I'm saing that the original fresh baguet is more hard.

  • "all the single layers, all the single layers" LOLS!

  • @punk0906 it really wasn't that funny.

  • @punk0906 lol gud 1

  • What kind of baking sheet is that ?

  • I believe its called a silpat

  • every chef has his own lil habits and rituals... but my god John....how many dishes do you put in Cayenne Pepper ???...its quite alot ! :D

  • It is. I don't have cayenne, so sometimes I use Merken, which is a Mapuche pepper from Chile.

  • I've never met a non-desert that didn't benefit from cayenne pepper. It's like salt and pepper. You just need it.

  • even some desserts benefit from cayenne!

  • salad time!

  • Best. Humour. Ever.
