Who plays with this kind of intensity these days, IMHO not many. This is the stuff guys like Satriani and Van Halen cut their musical teeth on, and they pay homage to it by jamming with Leslie every chance they get. Mountain were true pioneers along with Cream and Jimi Hendrix.
@Nathanguitarman i am comparing it to other rock and metal artists of its time. now, there is alot more heavier stuff, but consider the time, this is pretty heavy.
@abortedfetus386 C'mon dude...there's no need for the "fucking moron" comment just over a difference of musical opinion...I mean really...hell, my younger brother is a Prince fan and I can't stand him, but I don't call him a moron over it...
It's too bad so many Mountain songs were over-produced with weird fucking shenanigans. They should have been cleaner with more simple West ass-kicking solos. Most won't admit this. But when I showed my sister these songs a few years ago, she laughed because those zingers and woobahs and flippy-patties sound fucking stupid. They overshadow one of the best Gibson wailers ever.
@parafleet Everyone is entitled to their own opinion...however, Leslie West, the guitarist, is the one that chose to use those sounds...so I think it's kind of silly to call him one of the best wailers, and then complain about the effects he chose to use...
@myklj999 totally agree. Those "weird fucking shenanigans" are what gave them their sound and I think LW was given enough more than ample opportunity to display his guitar prowess.

Nathanguitarman 1 month ago
@Nathanguitarman The tone West uses is very thick and "heavy", although I don't consider this one of Mountain's heavier songs...

@parafleet Most won't admit this? More like most don't agree, this is one of my all time favorite albums.
