This was one song where they really overdid it with the speeding up of the vocal tracks. They nearly sound like chipmunks, especially Bjorn's backing vocals.
i think it's great to have access to this kind of 'unknown' (implying that most listeners stay on the surface with a couple of ABBA hits). Still I think that the 'GET ON THE CAROUSEL' version had so much more energy, both the lyrics and the music were so much more uplifting. please do not misinterpret, this song is BEAUTIFUL!!!
Funny you should say that, I remember seeing the shot in the film with the plane landing, this song kicked in and it sent a big chill down my back, and it still does. Thats good music for ya!!
have you recogniced at 2.12 the slow part is the same as "Get on the caroussel" ?? the same with the intro.. that might be the reason why they never released "Get on..." what I think its a pity because I love that song as well...
Yeahh! Thought it sounded familiar. They "recycled" some sounds from demos and put them into released song. Like Rubber Ball Man who became Under Attack,
@closetbug They never released RUBBER BALL MAN in its full length version, so I wouldn't speak about recycling. The only song that was released in full bloom was UNDER ATTACK, right?
@lingustica eh...well, I meant recycling, which I wrote in quotation marks for a reason, when it came to DEMOS obviously. Or can you not hear the similarites in rubber ball man and under attack? If you do - why do you seem to be offended by what I wrote? What's the big deal?
That's Bjorn and Agnetha from the music video of "That's Me." Too bad that most of Abba's music videos here in Youtube are exclusive in Sweden only. :-(
this album brings back so many memories. i was only 8 or 9, but remember two teenage girls who lived by me who would play this. i remember lief garrett posters all over their wall and the jacksons shake your body down to the ground, etc. great time to be a kid. no bills, divorces, fights with in-laws. just left with memories of playing kickball and listening to music.
@ImeldaLumos yeah.... it's maybe my fave too... summer night city and tiger are really good too... and jesus... there's soooo many other great songs... but this one is probably in my top 5 of the band...even with their great army of killer singles !
what a great video! Especially loved the bit with Freda from the 'Take a Chance on Me' video in sync with "it's gotta be rock 'n' roll". Fab. Btw, where's the clip with Benny and Freda in period costume drinking beer come from???
I beleive it was from one of the first shows they did, where they dressed up in wild west clothes, someone else might be able to give you a bit more info on that.
The clip is from a TV show in 1970. This was the first time ABBA were on TV. They used the name "Festfolk", which means both "engaged couples" and "party people" in Swedish. On the show they performed the song "California Here I Come".
man I wish there was a YouTube when I was a teen loving ABBA and just couldn't get enough! But its great to look at all these videos now and feel nostalgic.
You must do some production work somewhere...your editing and overall quality are topnotch if you indeed do create these. Not only that, you've created a near seamless transition and it's hard to note that nobody is actually singing the song in the 5-12? videos you've cut together! That's very impressive. I appreciated these completely and I think I'm adding you. KUDOS, Steven

I do not think that abba are for GAy´s. Are a wonderful Group that men and women can listen.

Thankyou, someone who also agrees ABBA are not just for gays, I mean it was a group consisting of two heterosexual marriages, how is that gay??
Domcall 4 years ago
No there not just for gay people no one implied otherwise ABBA is for everyone.
Just to clear that up.
