  • really informative and interesting

  • love the video man

  • i enjoyed this vid

  • and ladies dont forget tighs.

  • she should try compression packs.

  • Do you guys go clubbing at all? I would've at least tossed my trusty wrinkle-resistant little black dress in there with a pair of heels Even if I had to sacrifice a pair of jeans or some dresses for space.

But I guess that's me since I seem to party everywhere I go and don't like getting turn away at the door for dress code. *shrug*

  • @redwinehelpsyousleep I found this video to be EXTREMELY useful but I'd really like to know what kind of backpack is featured in this video. Also, do you have any more tips about buying backpacks? Thanks in advance!

  • @teenagefairy The brand is North Face, which makes a ton of great quality stuff. The model is "w terra 40" - the "w" is for "w"omen and the "40" is for amount of liters. The main thing is to try on different bags with weight in them to see how they fit. Packs are made differently for men and women and normally come in different sizes, so don't skimp and buy a one size fits all bag. Spend a little extra cash and get one that will lasta lifetime of traveling.

  • I don't like to sacrifice fashion! *buttons up jean jacket*

  • I redirect my comment to the one I just made for the 'male' version...

  • "i love fashion: really? uhhh no.

  • @vitalmayhem I usually always put any important documents, camera and charger, (iPod, phone etc if you plan on bringing these things), extra shirt and change of underwear and any toiletry items you might need for an extra day- contact solution, medication, feminine products in case pack gets lost at airport and book or magazine. Check TSA.gov for up-to-date carry-on restrictions. I use my daypack as a carry-on.

  • great video very helpful i'm leaving for my first backpacking trip in a month :D

  • Hey there! I really love this video! The same concerns that you have (incorporating both function AND fashion) are also my concerns when preparing for a backpacking trip through Europe. So very helpful! If you don't mind, what is the brand of your backpack as well as your cute toiletry bag, and where can I purchase them?

  • @coconisha85 The backpack is The North Face brand, but many companies make them. The main thing is to find one that is designed for a female - they have different frames, smaller dimensions, and better straps for your front. The toiletry bag was just a cheap one I picked up from Wal-Mart for about $5. Nothing too special about it. I'm sure Wal-Mart, Target, Kohls or a similar store will have a few to choose from.

  • you're NOT supposed to have the heaviest items on bottom!

u'r supposed to have the lightest items on bottom. and heaviest itmes go to the very top.

research how to pack a backpack from those expert websites.....................

  • @missyBecks Internal frame backpacks (opposite from external) like this one is recommended to keep items near the middle, lower 1/2 of the main compartment. Main point is to keep them as close to the spine as possible. Heavy items near the top your pack will have the tendency to pull away from you making you very top heavy. Items near the middle and bottom keep you grounded and pull straight down. Think of a bookshelf, put the heaviest books at the top near the outside it will topple over.

  • @redwinehelpsyousleep I love your videos. But I'll have to agree with previous commenter. Why it's good to pack light things in bottom: watch?v=2wuwNnRfrG4

  • @DangerFluxCapacitor Rather than being limited to north face backpacks, I recommend getting an REI membership for 25 bucks, and getting a lifetime warranty on EVERY item you buy.

  • About how long can you live out of this pack? Is this for like two weeks or three months?

  • @moniquinnn This particular packing situation was used for a five week trip, but it could used for a year - maybe add an extra sweater if traveling in cold countries. The point is if you pack enough for two weeks, it can last as long as you need it to. Extra toiletries can be picked up anywhere and replace clothes and socks as they get worn out. Laundromats are everywhere to wash clothes when needed.

  • Love your videos!

I was just wondering what kind of backpack is that?!

  • can the backpack be taken on a plane as a carry on or does it have to be checked in?

  • I mainly check my pack because a bike chain, Swiss Army knife and toiletry bag can't go onto the plane. (toiletries can go but must be in certain sized bottles and fit into a certain size ziplock bag which becomes a pain and my contact solution bottles are larger than the allotted size). I checked 8 airlines and the largest carry-on size bag allowed in 22in x 18in x 10in. Some airlines are very specific and others aren't. I just use my day pack as a carry-on and put all important items in it.

  • @redwinehelpsyousleep thanks for replying and i really enjoy the videos it is the only one that is really informative about backpacking across europe!

i was just wondering was there any damage to your bag when it was checked?

  • Just some minor scuffs but no tears or shredded straps. Combined we've probably checked our packs on nearly 20 flights and Amtrak trains and they are still good to go. Scott's pack is over six years old and seen plenty of use with no major issues. The more scuffs and scratches the more character it has.

  • One note: make sure your flipflops are good ones! I have found while doing lots of walking, my flipflop will break and I'm in the position nowhere NEAR more flipflops.

  • thank you so much! :)

  • where did you get your toiletry bag? i like it! :)

  • I got this one a few years ago from Target. The main things to look for are: a hook to hang your bag over the shower stall doors, clear compartments, and enough room to fit all of your toiletries without it being too bulky. Something else to consider is many toiletry bags are stiff and dont have any give, which makes packing more difficult. Target seemed to have the best selection when I was choosing, but do some research and find the one that is right for you!

  • What is a hostel?

  • @Nyghtshade409

It´s cheaper than a hotel, you can share a room with others or have a room for yourself, usually two beds and a fridge.

You share bathrooms and toilets with others, a kitchen and lounge too. But the point is to see sights and only sleep and cook in hostel.

  • I like that backback. What kind is it?
