hi davie, brilliant fly again, what are your top ten salmon flies that i need to tie for next season, also do you buy your jungle cock in packets or on a cape, thank you very much,, Deion
Here's a list of the flies I like to have in my box; Willie Gunn with a gold body and a red head as well as original ,Red Devil, Ally's Shrimp, Cascade and a purple version, Ayrshire Shrimp and Sunray Shadow,Flamethowers in different colours, Silver Stoat and Blue Charm these all can be tyed on a tube as well as on a hook of your choice mine would be a double..I hope this is of some help to you..
The Red Devil is a very simple tube fly which is used here in Ayrshire but it will catch salmon anywhere. Here's the way I tye it..Copper tube from 1/2 ich up, Thread, Fire Orange Uni-Thread 8/0 which I use now but red varnish on the thread is the original way to get the red head, there's no body, Wing Red Bucktail which I like to have twice the length of the tube and then Jubgle Cock the length of the tube and that's it, very simple but deadly...ATB Davie
As always, another work of art Dave. I do not fly fish or tie flies, but I always enjoy watching you tie a fly.
In regard to the pheasant wing where you mention it is normally red and now dyed green; Do you dye them yourself and how do you get the feathers to take on the color? I thought the feathers would shed/reject the water and color.
I didn't dye the Golden Pheasant skin but it's one of the range that comes from a company called Veniards, they are a wholesaler so you'll have to buy from a shop that stocks their materials, I'll send you a link to the shop I bought the one I used in the video from..
Thank you very much for your help

Hi Davie,
Is the golden pheasant skin you showed the same as the skin in the background of the picture for the quinn shrimp video?
