For those asking, Great Magic Barrier negates 90% of magic damage. Since Seath is 100% magical damage at range, the miracle completely trivializes the fight.

@MySwordHasSwag After you defeat the gaping dragon, exit the area which you fought him in, then when you're back in the hallway area, turn right and there should be a shopkeeper called Zena of Domhall or something, next to him is a big locked door, which the gaping dragon drops the key for, and you'll be in Blighttown.
