  • kicks above the waist? not wing chun... awful

  • Not real wing chun. Nice to see it being used in a mainstream ad though. Not that you need Nike gear to train. Non branded black tee shirt and trackies do the job. Although I do like a traditional kung fu suit

  • God she is hot! Is she the widow of past away sifu Wagner?

  • its WT!!!

  • I'm a student under grandmaster william cheung(Traditional wing chun)and Yeh! this is NOT how it should be done, but it's an advert and like movie's it's gotta look good-bruce lee used moves in movie's that he would not use in a real fight,so i'm just glad to see wing chun in a nike ad...All Martial Arts is good.

  • This only looks like wing chun... what a pity

  • I would love to retrain this woman to become a combative fighter. Whoever trained her was not a good fighter or a fraud. Her movements are wide and way to stiff. footwork is lacking big time. This is why this art gets a hard time getting respect.

  • Well it is meant as a demonstration. I bet she wouldn't do such wide moves in a real fight.

Anyways she teaches Wing Chun over here ;)

    (Germany)

  • Can Someone tell me why WingChun is in a NIKE commercial ?!?! what!?!! and which country has this commerical played in ?

  • this is Sh*t look at her foorwork it is possibly worthy of someone in there first class but definatly not worthy to be broadcasted as a wing chun form and maybe they could give a little more info on the art.

  • ok there buddy, she doesn't have to be a sifu you know, at least wing chun is getting promoted. Geez chill out, besides I don't see your video of wing chun who are you to criticize her

  • why the hell not if they want to portay the Art then they should show someone that knows what thy are doing, i would prefer Wing Chun to stay fairly unpromoted, then some hopeless fool trying it and getting the art a s*** name. ps this doesnt even count they call it a meditation, thats not what fomrs are meant for, they are created to build chi/energy, learning to control breatheing

  • again, I haven't seen your video, so you can't really judge her movement

  • And again i dont have to post a video to voice my fuc*ing opinion, you musn't care about the art because if you did you would be dissapointed by how it is portrayed here. If someone posted a video bagging you stuiped fuc*ing canadians, im pretty sure you would criticize it without posting a video dumb fuk

  • ...so much anger I sense in you...

  • in samass03 I mean.

  • ...anger leads to fear, fear leads to hatred,

hatred leads to the dark side.

  • this is shit, so annoying corporations buy into martial arts in order to promote their products, as nike has nothing to offer wing chun, and it doesn't really promote the use of wing chun or wing tsun as it is displayed poorely, its shit shit shit shit shit. i hate nike.

  • This video is definitely for nike. The video is cut for demo purposes. They really get a lot of technique packed in one minute.

And from the looks of it, either one could take out William Cheung.

His only video is him being thrown down by a Turkish wing chun fighter. Now that will make you combust in laughter!

  • wow, thts pretty funny, she was doing the third form, there at the beginning no? but 'playing wing chun'?? since when did they make wing chun a video game? - haha

  • I agree, hat's off to Nike (even if they didn't find someone who's a real exponent of the art), Wing Chun can only benefit from the exposure.

  • You're right. Wing Chun was created by a woman, a Buddhist Nun to be exact. The woman here is way to stiff, showing that she probably just learned the moves for the commercial only and maybe trained for a few weeks just learning those moves. My Si-Fu is a student of GM William Cheung. I showed him this video and he nearly combusted in laughter. Although, I do have to give it to Nike for showing this and generating some interest in Wing Chun.

  • the story i heard was the wing chun was originally developed by a woman, so this is appropriate.

  • Some people make funny comments. I think she is a stunning looker and her shapes seem fine. No-one is perfect in any martial art.

  • I agree, Rather than negative things said about the Advert why don't they simply look at the advert promoting the martial arts and Wing Chun in particular.

  • She's doing Wing Tsun, which is Modified Wing Chun. That's why she doesn't look that good. Take a look at Grandmaster William Cheung, THAT's the real way to do it.

  • Phil redmond taught her he is william cheungs students

Redmond sucks and so does his students

  • Redmond teaches Modified Wing Chun. Only recently has he become Cheung's student. Eventually he'll be teaching Traditional.

I'd like to see you say that to Kieth Mazza.

  • Oh! i got sticky hands!

  • Phil Redmond taught her thats why she sucks

  • great video, i like to at least see an applause for Nike to take a less popular fighting sport and give it a place on the shelf. and yeah she seems a bit on the stiff side but I think that's just how she's feeling the kung fu.

  • oh and about going full resistance or something, well get someone who is willing to get hurt badly and then im sure they can ^_^ until then i dont see it happening.

  • bah all the wing chun haters...sooo many in the world it seems ah well cant really expect anyone from any art to say that such and such is better then the one i practice or whatever (tho some people need to get thier head out of thier asses, fimrly belive some people dont even deserve to learn fighting skill) it was a commiercial and a good one , hot both of them ^+^

  • haha, that was actually really cool!

  • horrible pivot on the toe arrgh. And yeah i thought sil lim.. no wait bil (biu) gee, oh..

There are chicks in my class - hotter and much much much better hehe.

  • they are very... not good. She starts out in the beginning of the Biu Gee form but has no scapula protraction, so her movements are pretty useless. I guess we can't expect much from nike models though...

  • looks like she could easily do a purple nurple on the blonde. SO WHY DOESN'T SHE DO IT??! i need to introduce a new technique to wing chun

  • nice very hot

  • You people are sad train spotting idiots. i can believe you bother to comment on an advert. your the kind of plonkers that watch an action movie and say "what i would ahve done instead is..." go back to primary school.

  • I like a women who's rough!

  • She is not married to Bernd, I am pretty sure. Also, I think it is very scary for most of the men on this for a woman to be better than them.

  • jus enjoy the clip already...

  • High kicks are only impractical if they don't work. If you have someone immobilized the do what you will. Wing Tsun has ever kind of kick you can imagine as long as you follow the principles and philosophy

  • Okay, just for a second think of a demo, then think of a nike commercial. Put the two together with Krista doing her thing and guess what you get. Ah Nike commercial with Wing Tsun in it. Just cause she isn't stuck standing in the tradition wing chun fighting stance doesn't mean she has a bad foundation. Looks like good old zig zag steps to me, correct adduction, correct use of the centerline.

  • her stance is awful, and she is too stiff. need to losen up and back to the foundations.

  • RRAaaRRR!

  • lol this cracks me up and turns me on all at the same time think this is sexy wing chun lol

  • But still its a commercial. Its made to sell something, not to show how real Wing Chun looks.

  • Who cares... Look at the girls!!

  • She has been studying WT for years. She is married to a German WT Master named Bernd Wagner.

  • wing chun is the best

  • Guys, it's pretty girls doing kung fu. I hate wing chun as much as the next person, but nerding out like this when confronted with women helps no one...

  • She seems kinda robotic

  • It *is* practical, try working door on a bar/club, within trapping range it is very effective.

  • As far as i know, nobody in wing chun kicks above the waist; its impractical. Wing chun itself however is very practical, i still believe it to be one of the most practical of arts.

  • I read above that we don't use the hook punch I am sorry to inform sallah098 that we do in my Wing Chun class. I am under the William Cheung branch in Kansas.

  • the action of the art is obviously speeded up and altered to look "good" on camera.

as the old saying goes, if it looks good it probably isnt fuctional.

i'd like to see them do wing chun properly.

  • There is no way to do it properly because it only works in theory and not in practice. Will someone please show me someone doing this crap against a resisting opponent and actually being successful at it. And I'm not talking about someone who doesn't know anything whatsoever. Even TKD can win a fight against someone who knows nothing.

  • Look up Joseph Simonet aka "the best kept secret in american martial arts". His mook jong orientated system, the Slam Set, is mainly based on Wing Chun and Pencak Silat Serak.

  • The problem again, has to do with training; with REAL resistance. If his stuff is based on _ing _un then it's probably the same static drills against compliant partners. Have Joseph put a video up of him testing his material out against a resisting person and not one of his students and see how good this stuff works when someone fights back.

  • Go'g to China for 2 wks, perhaps when get back try to video a few tech against full force strikes! Not hard to imagine. I'm 5'10". A fellow student 6'4" ~ 250lbs.I put the gear on and had him both do fast 'jabs' & power cross&straight punches. My personal fav of many is Bon Sao/Wu Sao to jam up arm and hock retracting jab, simul strkg him; if other hand comes into play, u deal w/it. Also like inside diagnol jut sao/rebound strike face w/same hand. It's not hard to employ in full force setting's

  • On the strt easy to see how simul. strike/defense can take someone out quickly; in ring with gloves, etc.., certainly a greater effort to continue w/rapid fire techniques one after other as blows are better absorbed; why 'iron palm' train'g is helpful.

  • This video reminds me of that Mitsubishi Eclipse commercial where that one girl is pop-locking in the car.

  • wing chun is nothing alse than other material arts

you have two hands and two lags and you wat to win .

i had saw wing chung peoples on sanda fights and thay had

    fight like every one alse.

  • wing chun, wing tsun, ving tsun, yong chon...ALL MADE BY NG MUI!

(gratuidous Armageddon reference was necessary :P)

  • Ehhh...wing chun, wing tsun, ving tsun......doesn't really matter....romanized spelling....

  • it all comes from yip man. My wing chun is spelled ving tsun, still comes from yip man, still uses centerline and all the other same theories. Same art, same pronunciation, just slightly different. Just like i didnt go to daycare, i went to pre-K and before you come back with any countercomments like daycare before kindergarden IS pre-K, I went to pre-K for only one year and we had nap times there which daycare kids dont know about.

  • and before you come back with any counter comments like wing tsun is wing chun, wing tsun is leung ting's organization which is practiced in 65 countries. the techniques are also different as well like the wing tsun hook punch for instance which wing chun guys don't know about.

  • you can't hurt nobody without strength, they mean hitting power and by the way that's not wing chun that's wing tsun.

  • of course wing chun is about strength!! every martial arts is, only in wing chun you use centerline and those tactics to gain a lot of strength so that u dont need a lot of (what u only think of with the word strength) physical power yourself. she didnt really use centerline and therefor she didnt have much strength in the fight

  • Strength?!? Wing Chun is never about strength

  • lol don't care if she's not good with wing chun or not. she's hot! and she beats up whitey haha oh and mmapanda you are a dumbass haha

  • Looks good but it is apparent that they've just watched a video somewhere along the line. Those double arm blocks have no center line strength to them at all

  • This is a good video, the woman starts out with the early sequences of the woodendummy form in mid-air. She is OK and this stuff aboutno horse and stiffness etc. isnt really applicatble / relevant. a] its an advert b] if she can generate power like that then its good for her. Full stop.

Top marks for Nike using Wing Chun as a method and even including blinf sticking hands

  • haha you know why they both suck? it's because they are under leung ting branch!! leung ting ftl

  • not the real thing, for a chick she is very stiff, no horse, no elbows, she lacks everything a true wing chun practioner has, she has bad stance turning, etc

  • wing chun is not a game

  • you're right, it's a joke

  • Well it is in this video :)

  • i love to see cat fight, lol.

  • da's hot
