The problem with worshiping the Laffer curve is that we never know where we are relative to the peak revenue point, and therefore we don't know whether to raise taxes or lower them. We can only guess which is best. Please keep in mind that the Laffer curve also show that too much tax cutting reduces revenue; you people seem to only note the other side of the arguement.

As far as Social Security goes dummy, The inability to pay 100% of an obligation is the *definition* of bankruptcy. the assets that remain in the SS fund - assets that are declining every day - are not "hard currency" assets. Rather, they are merely IOUs written by the general fund of the United States Treasury. There is no money in there, only a collection of written promises from the Treasury to repay money that was long ago borrowed. Most of the money is printed which causes inflation.
