Nothing can be compared to the original,Nothing...The sound of the instruments remind me at the first Burzum's demo, but I can say that the vocals are really sick and poor.In this one the mistical feelings of the original aren't present.Nice, nothing special.
This cover is actually OK. Obviously nowhere near the original but I don't see what a lot of you hate about it. It's probably because Nachtmystium weren't formed in Norway in the early 90's, didn't burn down churches or kill anyone and as a result - aren't 'true' black metal.
When I clicked on this I knew the BM purist would flock to this like pedophiles to kiddie porn. Seriously BM purists need to calm down and stop running amok on the internet claiming every BM band other then Burzum and Mayhem is a ripoff of afore mentioned bands. God damn, people, Burzum is alright but he's not THAT good.
i think i like this better....its alot heavier, i like that...maybe it's the fact that i don't really like Burzum other than the odd song......maybe it's the fact that i love Nachtmystium to death... best black metal band ever, idgaf
This is a great cover, The Burzum played by the Nachtmystium ... the guitars are even more dark and obscure than the ones on the original song ... fucking amazing !
hahaha. youre not good for the slower stuff nachmystium, dont do this again....come on, crank up the guitars, wet your pallet and play US SOME FUCKING NACHMYSTIUM.
the cover is good but the voice is very fuck!!!! it isn't Burzum,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,you can find a very good cover of lost wisdom on youtube you search hell shall rise
I hate it when ignorant fucks try to put down American metal in any of its forms.
Yeah we have some of the most stupid bands; hardcore/emo/metalcore/screamo bands.
But we also have/had some of the best and most influential bands in metal; MORBID ANGEL, Monstrosity, SUFFOCATION, POSSESSED, Atheist, OBITUARY, DEATH, Morpheus Descends, Incantation, IMMOLATION, and countless others.
Almost every Scandanavian band be it black or death cites one or more of the bands I listed as influences.
Nobody's bashing American death metal. American death metal is the best form of death metal (I'm not the biggest fan of the Scandinavian DM scene of old but they put out truly great works. But nothing compares to old school American death metal). But in terms of black metal they have an incredibly weak scene compared to Poland, France, Norway, Greece, and Finland. The older guard of USBM is probably around the same quality as Swedish black metal which was never strong to begin with.
Dissection, Sacramentum, Marduk, Niden Div 187, WATAIN, and lots of other solid black metal bands came from Sweden and while there isn't as many bands there as, Norway for example, the black metal scene is still great.
Well American black metal (except for Profanatica/Havohej, Black Funeral, Winds of the Black Mountain, Absu, and Demonic) is nothing more than a 2nd wave Scandinavian rip off so why take it seriously? Weren't these guys going to play for a TOYOTA SPONSORED FEST?!?!
You obviously don't know much about American Black Metal. There are PLENTY of bands that are not Darkthrone ripoffs, or what have you. Who cares if it's sponsored by Toyota? Seriously? am actually asking you.. do you seriously care?
Also, are you suggesting that Nachtmystium is a ripoff of scandinavian black metal? HAHA. Let's also take death metal into consideration. Scandinavians "ripped off" american death metal, so do you hate scandinavian DM? If you don't, then you're a hypocrite.
The third wave of black metal is basically a Burzum/Darkthrone ripoff fest. They try to hide their unoriginality by labeling themselves suicidal black metal, NSBM, depressive metal, ect. But they all stem from the melodies of Burzum or rawness of Darkthrone. USBM is the biggest joke on the planet especially Xasthur.
You seriously think Swedish death metal sounds American? They have completely different approaches to death metal.
Swedish Death Metal sounds as close to USDM as most third wave sounds to Darkthrone/Burzum.
They may have improvised and changed into something else (like Shining, for example), but even the people from Carnage admitted that they copies US death metal bands and ended up creating a scandinavian scene.
You actually think Entombed or Dismember or any of the Sunlight bands sound anything like bands from FL, NY, or California? Just because they were influenced by it doesn't mean they are carbon copies. A good example would be the Polish black metal scene which came out shortly when Immortal/Darkthrone put out their debuts. You can hear a lot of similarities but they were completely different in sound and approach as with USDM and Swedish DM. USBM and 3rd wave shit doesn't share this
The dudes from Carnage and Nihilist (or another, can't remember) specifically said that they were amazed by the US DM scene back then, and that's how they got into death metal. I know Swedish DM has a sound of it's own, and yeah that's fine - however, you're wrong about 3rd wave black metal from the USA. There are a lot more that sound a lot LESS like carbon copies of 2nd wave scandinavian BM. Especially Nachtmystium! 3rd wave is the most creative BM in my opinion - USA or overseas.
Yeah but just because they were amazed by the scene doesn't mean they completely ripped it off like USBM has with Norwegian black metal. That's like saying every metal genre ripped off Bathory, Slayer, Sodom, Iron Maiden, ect because they were amazed by these bands. I can't take Nachtmystium serious until they produce a stellar record that's as creative as older bands (which should be accounted for all bands nowadays as the only decent record I've heard in black metal was the latest Beherit)
You're so crazy. Nachtmystium are nothing like 2nd wave BM, Krieg, Averse Sefira, Absu, Nosferion, Blood Storm, Weakling... even Wolves in the Throne Room - they don't sound like 2nd wave BM. Maybe a hint of Nargaroth in WiTTr's sound but it's mainly sounding a lot like Drudkh which is not 2nd wave.
Either way, if the last decent BM record you have heard is Beherit's, then I feel sorry for you. Blut Aus Nord's newest album is the most creative work in black metal I have heard in a long time.
American black metal was and still is greatly influenced by Scandanavian black metal. So?
I wouldn't call it a rip-off though. Some American black metal bands perfected the sound just as much as a lot of Scandanavian bands did.
Havohej's Dethrone the Son of God is up there with the best Scandanavian black metal albums.
You mentioned some solid bands and there's a lot more; Averse Sefira, Kult ov Azazel, Angelcorpse, Resuscitator, Krieg, Inquisition, and Demoncy are all great in their own way.
Just because it didn't come from Scandanavia doesn't mean it's of any less quality.
Most of the 2nd wave Scandanavian black metal bands have turned into jokes anyway and like it or not, a lot of American bands are more true than most of them nowadays.
Almost all of the 2nd wave black metal bands decayed and fell into oblivion while the American bands THEY influenced are still carrying the torch of REAL black metal.
Educate yourself a bit more next time you decide to bash something.
fuck the haters, i think this is pretty good.

I was just making a point that even the best European black metal bands cite American death metal bands as influences.
Yeah the American black metal scene is not as strong as a lot of European countries but I wouldn't call it incredibly weak.
Wait, did you just say Swedish black metal was never strong?! There's a lot more black metal bands from Sweden than France and Greece combined.
DUDE, Bathory came from Sweden and that's enough to make it the most important country for black metal.
