Lying in the Hands of God is one of the pieces of music the band has put out in over a decade. The band obviously agrees because they have put the most effort into evolving that song in a live setting and it is now considered the best song from this album that they play live. Also, Squirm is another song that I think you should have given another chance. I didn't like it at first but really started digging it and it is one of the few songs from this album that has avoided becoming stale.
Excellent review, I think you touched on some fine, positive aspects of the album. Do I think this is the greatest of DMB albums... close but no cigar. Although, something the crew has done in this album, which was lost in the previous was that Louisiana vibe, that true DMB original sound we love. They have brought back the best in the band members,
Nice review. I hated this album. Being a big DMB fan, got to see em live twice before Leroi passed away and it was awesome. But this album sucks. It's terrible and doesn't contain any of the brilliant original songwriting of under the table and dreaming or before these crowded streets.
omg your hilarious! and Im a huuuuuuge DMB fan, always have been, dont let all these other people give you shit for making a mistake, Like you said, its not like you knew a lot of their history.
glad you gave like the album for the most part. do yourself a favor though and go buy Before These Crowded Streets. Best DMB album. Keep on diggin, they have some good shit.
Agreed. Buy Before These Crowded Streets. This is there best album. Songs have alot of different feelings like this album. i recommend songs: The Stone, Crush, Pig, Dreaming Tree, and Spoon
I understand why you never listened to dmb's pervious work. I looked on ur page bro and your only 14 lol. WTF DUDE!!! U WERE STILL SPERM WHEN THEY CAME OUT WITH THEIR FIRST ALBUM LOL. When "crash" came out you were not even a year old. When Before these crowded streets came out you might have been 3 or 4 lol. cumon man!!!
OH YEA i forgot, I never watched ur vid long enough to see if you liked the cd or not, I keep pausing it so i hear nothing but the beginning part when you say "i know nothing about this band" . I LOVE THAT PART, I'll give you a lil hint, if u truely "review" something for others to listen too or you're trying to give your own expert advice on something. You have to KNOW WHAT YOU'RE TALKING ABOUT... no hate just love peace.
my concern is why would you review a cd by a band you never really listened too anyways....i mean you don't know the history of the band or their earlier work....why am i listening to you comment on something you know nothing about lol. PEACE BRO HAVE A NICE DAY WITH YOUR COMPUTER.
i know you dont really know all the history but LeRoi (R.I.P.) died from complications from an ATV accident not a car accident just saying and like what u said about the drums, carter= best drummer ever
my ex-housemate was a big fan of dave matthews band, while i think theres some great musicianship and some diversity in there songs, to me it comes accross a bit too polished for my taste and sometimes verging on generic but thats just me. i know they are mad popular in the usa, in the u.k hardly anyone cares which is quite strange. Anyhow while i find there stuff pleasent on the ear i dont think id bring myself to get an album.
great review though, you really put this one over haha.
That's what I thought for years, which is why I never listened to them, and from about 2001-2008, reviewers said the same thing, but this album is really quite great. I agree that it can be generic, but here it sounds like some true emotion.
for those of you who watched this video and now assume Leroi Moore died in a car accident, he was actually killed due to complications from an ATV accident, about 2 months before his death.

I was curious to see your review until you said that Leroi died in a car accident last year.. then I peed on the screen and shut you down.
NewbyGuitarPlayer 2 years ago
Really, because I made a simple mistake, that I admitted to, it makes the rest of my review less valid? Wow.
Alex703rockstar 2 years ago
Yeah.. I suppose its just because now I assume that everything you say is wrong
NewbyGuitarPlayer 2 years ago
Just because I made one mistake doesn't mean everything I say is wrong.
Alex703rockstar 2 years ago
Or does it?
NewbyGuitarPlayer 2 years ago
It does not, my friend.

I know, does that take away from the review?
I don't see how it makes my opinions less valid.

That's interesting....I think it's because I'm giving my thoughts on what I think about THIS album, I just can't compare it with the others.
