A question: please, accord to manual the EQ have 11 bands, I want to know if can I move or control every band in a independent way and so cut some frequencies. Thanks
somehow i cant receive files from my droid with bluetooth, i can use the phone and sent files but i cant receive them from the android phone, any ideas???
@kingklabe I use Gomencoder and it works.. Choose samsung and yp-p2 in the settings... I also use that to convert videos I can watch in PSP for bigger screen...It's very easy to use even I am able to use it I love gom encoder!
I love Samsung P2 also. I love the record function of the FM radio. By the way, anyone knows if we can play Angry Birds in P2? I'd appreciate any answer :)
@papaa7x The P2 is a bit older now but is still a great MP3 player. You can sync music using the included software (Emodio), Windows Media Player or as a standard USB device (drag/drop support). The Samsung P3 is its replacement but has similar features and sound quality.
Well the product has been around for a while now. If your sure you want this product then I would recommend the new version, the Samsung P3. I'm not sure which retailers carry the P3 but I imagine it would be easier to find than a new P2.
You can download the original P2 and newer P3 games pack from the Mediafire Hosting Site that is listed in the Description of this video. Open the URL and go into the P2 "Important Software" folder. Download the P2 and P3 Games packs and extract the game folders into the P2 / Games / PRG folder.
It can be drag and drop or you can use WMP/Emodio to "sync" files to it. You can buy it from most portable audio dealers (future shop, best buy, the source, zellers). You might have to look around as the P3 is available now.
well the P2 have no speaker but whit bluetooth you cant buy any mini speaker like the (samsung bs300) build for the kind of player and wes you talk via bluetooth and use normal headphone (player have a microphone) or bluetooth headphone (whit microphone)
super player ans now on sale on ebay becuze the Yp-p3 is out !
i have a p2 16Gb super nice player and more cheaper than the ipod touch !!!
Great review Ian. I got my P2 a couple of weeks ago (16G Black). Love it! BTW, I'm from BC too...haha. NE way, gotta question about video playback. If there is only one video on the player it repeats the playback over again instead of stopping at the end. If there are more than one videos stored, it automatically starts playing the next video right away instead of stopping between videos. Is this normal? Is there a way to adjust the settings so it stops after each playback? Thanks.
Good question actually. I am away from my P2 at the moment. I will try to remember to look into this for you tonight and get back to you. Sorry for the delay on this I try to get to these questions right away but have been quite busy. I'll get back to you asap.
wtf when did the 16 gb come out i wanted to get the biggest (space wise) and i could only get the 8gb... but then mine is over a year old... did it come out recently? or (dare i say it) are you mistaken and i can breathe easy?
I bought this as my 1st mp3 player so this may be a dumb question. I am not a headphone user; I plug it into my car and stereo's aux input. The volume is way too low. I have to turn the car way up and the stereo is barely auditable. I have the volume cranked way up on the player too. I plugged a friend's iphone into my car today; no volume issue there; plenty of punch. Is there some other sound level setting on the P2 that I haven't found?
Interesting problem... If you plug a pair of earbuds (even just the ones the P2 came with) into your P2 and listen through them is the sound loud enough? I can't say I have ever tried the P2 through an Aux input before as my stereo doesn't have one. If the volume is good through headphones than I would expect the P2 to be ok. Also, did you use the same cable to connect the iPhone as you did the P2?
I just tried the earbuds; had to set the volume 1/2 way up on the scale to get an acceptable level. I have no reference point as this is my 1st player but that seems very high on the scale comparable to other sound-producing sources. We did use the same cable when we tested the iPhone.
This is dependant on our opinions of "acceptable level." However I find that with no background noice the P2 is quite loud at about 1/3 the volume and very very loud at full volume. Their is an EQ setting you could check in the settings.
Hi.. do you know what parameter should I use to export videos in order to play them on the p2..? The videos that came on the p2 are not svi but wmv.. I use gspot to get their parameters and then I convert other videos using those same parameters but the p2 won't play them unless I convert them to svi.. Why does it play the .wmv videos that came on it but not "my" wmv videos..?
When you convert the videos they do need to go to a WMV9 format. I'm not familiar with gspot and am unable to check it out. I use anyvideoconverter free version to convert videos and they seem to play in WMV no problem on the P2. Check out my video on "Converting Videos to P2".
All of the movies that I copy to my P2 I own. I have converted the DVD to a movie file using the Gordian Knot/Robot4Rip method. Then I drag and drop the final AVI file into Emodio to convert it to an SVI file. I also tend to convert the AVIs to WMV but their isn't much difference over size/quality/time difference. Check out my DVDs to P2 Video for more info.
You can download UCIs through Emodio on the Emodio website tab. If you download them from my mediafire site you can copy them into the UCI folder on your P2 and they *should* allow you to change your UCI in the Menu Styles Section in the P2 Settings. Make sure you are using Firmware v5.08 or 5.10 as they may not work with earlier versions.
Hello! Sorry if i am bothering you with all my questions about P2..but u're a genius ! I wanted to ask you a question ( it's the last i promise u XD ) Do you know how i can put in the P2 the TTS function and how does it works? really thanks =)
Thanks for the comment! The TTS (text to Speech) function isn't really a P2 feature but more of a Emodio feature. Emodio can be set up to convert a text document into a verbal MP3. The MP3 can then be copied to the P2 so that you can listen to what is said. Thats really all their is too it. As far as setting it up you need the Emodio TTS speech file. Check my other videos for my Mediafire site link and download the file and install it. Let me know if you have troubles. Thanks!
The easiest method is to use a phone that already has a list of contacts on it. Connect the phone to your P2 and then "upload" the contact list from the phone to the P2 via a bluetooth connection. The P2 stores each contact in a seperate file, in a format called "VCARD". Its basically a text file with the info in it. Their are vcard programs available that will create the files and you can copy them directly to the P2 as well. Sorry I don't have the means to give better instructions.
The album covers are actually embedded into the Mp3 that you are listening too. Find your songs in Emodio and right click one of them. Click "Properties" and from within the window that pops up will be an option to select the album art for that song. You can also select multiple songs and right click to search for album art on many. I recommend doing 10-20 at a time rather than hundreds as it can take some time.
Thats a great question. I wish I knew as I no longer have access to my home computer and cannot check for upgrades from here. If anyone else knows this answer please speak up.
hey everyone...I need some help here...PLEASE...I really need the new Upgrade 5.10...the Samsung's link for download it IS NOT WORKING...I really need it...is there anyone who can help me??
The 5.10 firmware can be found on my mediafire site. Look in the "Firmware" Section under either English or Korean. Pick the one you want and upgrade. The manual upgrade instructions can be found on my mediafire site in the documentation section. The link is found in an annotation during this video or in the video description of any of my other P2 movies.
I have been meaning to do a video comparison of the two for quite some time. The touch is awsome when you are at a store or mall and want to access the internet or listen to a quick tune. The P2 is better for active situations like running, sports or long distance listening. I would pick the P2 over the touch for sound quality and bluetooth support. You may choose the touch for appz and visuals... its not an easy comparison.
yo man i got the p2 and it does no work on the 360 it will play all my songs for 5secs and then it will jump to the next song for 5sec and shit man !!!!
I have never tried recognizing the P2 on either the 360 or the PS3. I would suspect that the P2 would work on the PS3, especially in UMS mode (see video regarding korean firmware change). I don't know why your songs don't play right... I would make sure you are on firmware 5.10 before doing anything rash.
Is this model the YP-P2JCBY version? That is the one that I just bought.
Also, I've seen some videos where the user supposedly played a speaker on the P2. I havent found any speakers...are there supposed to be any speakers that comes with or within the P2?
Yes it is that version. Their is no speaker on any current version of the P2. Their is however a small cradle that has a mono speaker on it. I don't know the name of the device but if you youtube search "P2 speaker" it should come up. Looks like a little "pod". I beleive their are cradles/docks that you can get from walmart that are universal (usb plug and connect to headphone jack) that have a speaker.
Hey BestDog! The idea for the video is great but unfortunatly I'm unable to make any videos for quite some time. I am away from home on an extended business trip and wont be getting home for 6-7 months. Thanks for the idea though, if I do get a chance I will make it and mention you. Thanks!
The P2 is a flash Mp3/Video player. That means that you can simply insert the cable into your computer, open the "My Computer" window and it will appear there and let you Drag&Drop files into it's Music folder. Now their is a CD with a program that you CAN use to upload songs, playlists, videos but you don't have to use it. The included software is called Emodio and it's best purpose is to convert movie types to a compatible format for the P2. No Software is "Required".
I'm not sure how much the P3 will cost. I would imagine that since the P2 32GB is $250 Canadian (aprox) the P3 would be at least $349 on release. That is pure speculation and could be false. That would be my guess. I think release is sometime in the first quarter of 2009. I don't believe their is an official release date posted as of yet. Someone correct me if I'm wrong.
hello im just wondering why my phone wont connect to the samsung p2? im using a moto z6. i can find the mp3 itslef but when i try to connect it says cannot connect and my phone wont show up on the phone list on the mp3. can anyone help me?
Hmmm I have only ever used my Moto V360 to connect so I have little troubleshooting experience. I would try power both devices off. Power them on. Enable bluetooth on the P2 if you haven't already. Set your phone to search for a device. Put your P2 in the Mobile Phone menu. Once either device connects the phone should show on the P2. Tap it & it should ask for a code of "0000". That should be it. If that isn't working I would go to the anythingbutipod forums and ask there. Hope that helps!
I think the P3 sounds awesome so far. As it is I would be very interested to pickup a P3 just for the new audio types. I think a 32GB model would be great too. So far though I think they will need more functionality to really get people to trade in their P2s for P3s. If I were on the market I would have to decide first if I could wait until the P3 is released, and then decide if it will be worth the big $ it will get to start. Not to mention the P2 will be way cheaper by then.
Hey lilbrush, the Samsung P2 is an mp3 player with a microphone for voice recording. The Player has bluetooth support which allows you to connect to a supported phone and have it act as a cordless headset. You could be listening to music, a call can come in via bluetooth and you could answer it using the P2 while your music auto-pauses. Nifty stuff but the P2 can only act as a headset and has no built in phone features. Let me know if you want any other information.
Thank You! Please let me know if you have any questions before or after you pick it up. Also check out all my other P2 videos as I cover pretty much everything it can do. Enjoy!
I'm between this and a Cowon D2... This one looks better physically but the Cowon supposedly has better audio quality... ahh I don't know what to do...
Hey Kev, I have only done minor reading on the D2 but I'll throw out my opinion. If you are looking for an MP3 player with amazing sound quality with few extras the D2 is awesome. Audio Quality and battery life are its strongest points. It supports lossless audio formats which can/will sound better than the P2. Sound is good but video is going to be terrible on 2.5" at 320x240 rez. P2 has some games and offers bluetooth as well. If Music is your only concern, then let your wallet decide.
One other note. The P2s audio quality is above average. I have tested it against the zen, shuffle, nano, touch, zune and muvo and their is no doubt in my mind that with no special EQ settings enabled the P2 is the best. I am not the only one who will agree but take it as an opinion as I'm sure their is someone who would disagree. Either way, if you are an average listener the P2 should be more than good enough... If you want more than above average then consider the D2 for sure. Enjoy!
Thanks for your opinion. I discovered another possibility, the Cowon S9. It supposedly going to be released December and it looks awesome, and it's going to have a lot of the features the Samsung P2 has, even some that the Ipod Touch has, but it'll probably be very expensive compared to the Samsung P2.
I'll wait to see what it'll cost. If it's just a little more I might end up getting it instead.
In the meantime I'll go to my local Best Buy to see if I can try the Samsung with my earphones, if the sound quality is more than enough (and if the Cowon S9 is very expensive), I'll probably buy the Samsung P2. If not then the Cowon D2 it is!:)
Sounds like a plan! Don't forget to try the different DSNe settings as they can make a huge difference from song to song. Good idea with the S9 too... it does look pretty sweet. You should wait as you know that Christmas is going to bring the prices down on the P2. Boxing Day would be a good time to pick one up too. Either way be sure to check back and tell us what you picked up. Your opinion on the sound quality from P2 to S9 to D2 would be great too!
Check the version of your P2 through the P2 menus under SETTINGS > SYSTEM > ABOUT and make sure you have KR 5.10 or KR 5.08. Without one of the Korean versions your P2 doesn't have Lyrics support. Also make sure your Lyrics Station was updated to 2.55. If it still isn't working and both versions are correct then I would just add the lyrics to the MP3s on your computer and then copy those MP3s to your P2 using Emodio or however you normally do it. Let me know how all this goes or if you need help
Wow thats a very strong statement! Thank you very much for commenting. Feel free to check out all my video responses where I've expanded on specific P2 functions. If you have any questions please let me know. Thanks again!
Hey VegnagunSX! Actually I have made a video on EXACTLY how to put the dictionary on. Check it out. Scroll through the list of video responses to this movie and you will find the one about "US To Korean Firmware + UMS + Dictionary". It has all the links and information to get the Lite or Full dictionary Loaded onto your P2. I will PM you with the video link. Enjoy!
Thanks! The "Full" dictionary will read out a portion of the words but not the definitions. The pronunciation files are about 375MB now. If it read all the words and the definitions I would guess it would take about 4GB. Personally I think the 375MB is too much so I only install the "Lite" dictionary (20MB) on mine.
Great Dude, This is one of the best personal brief formal overviews of the player, so good jjob !
About the FM Radio Presets.. actually youre right.. but you know I sometimes travel from one place to another... (sometimes diff countries maybe). so its better to keep the presets and not scan them all the time and add them as you go .
I dont have a p2 but guess what, Ive just ordered one and I'm so excited :D Whats your personal idea about the Sound Quality and it's Enhancement ?
I appreciate the comment & am glad you found my video informative. I actually don't use the FM radio much as most of the time I am driving or running and like my playlists. Whether I use it or not the radio is nice to have. As far as the sound quality goes... its awesome! I have owned a creative, rca, ipod shuffle, ipod touch and theirs no doubt in my mind that the P2 comes out on top. The DNSe settings are fantastic. You won't be disappointed!
You could text using the PHONE while paired via bluetooth with your P2. However their is no way to use the P2 to do the actual texting. File transfer, voice dial, redial, dial by number, dial via address book, answer and disconnect are all the options available on the P2 while paired with a phone.
Actually I think the sensitivity was fixed much earlier on. I know that it was done before v5.08. I use 5.10 now (Korean) and it is great. I have had NO issues with the touch ability. Although I never used it when it first came out so I don't know how "bad" it was. Either way with the newest firmware (Korean or US) you'll be happy.
Thanks for the comment! I'm not sure if you meant that you were getting one for Christmas or not. The P2 has been available since late 2007. Even though it is about a year old it would still be a great Christmas present this year! Thanks Again!
Not sure why. It could be the source file your trying to download. If you just want to stick with the US firmware v5.10 I would just download it from my host site. I'll PM you with the link.
let's say i bought a p2 from online or bestbuy w.e., can't i just download the korean firmware and put it on my p2 which is v5.01 i belive? or is that gonna mess up with my player?
i have the Samsung YPK5 (reviewed on Amazon under keefy6) which imo audio-wise is outstanding. i bought 2 used/refurbished off ebay for the earbuds alone so that should tell you something. looking at this for an upgrade, good review thanks for the help.
Its a flash memory player so it is drag and drop. You can use the supplied SMS/Emodio software or any other flash supported software. I know theirs tons out there (windows media player, media monkey etc). No iTunes though; a good thing in my opinion.
Yes... Check my video review of "Cases & Pictures" as it shows the picture browser. Unfortunatly I left out the picture browser from this video. You can put any picture you want as the background. Obviously some work better than others (depending on size and color). If you put up a picture that doesn't blend well with the menu icons you can always change the menu style to suit. I tend to use computer generated abstracts as my wallpapers.
I think the screen is scratch resistant. I have had mine for several months now with NO screen cover and I have only a small scratch. I am pretty careful but I use mine about 10-15 hours a day and I take it everywhere. It does come with a transparent screen protector that is best applied right out of the box.
I was just wondering if the P2 allows you to search for certain songs instead of scrolling through your whole library to find a certain song. Also I was wondering if the shuffle system is better in this player because I own a samsung YP-T9 and the shuffle repeats in the same order every time you turn on the player unless you reset it. I'm just debating if I should get this player..the ipod touch or the creative zen.
The P2 doesn't actually have a "search" option but you can filter your library by Artists, Albums, Songs, Genres and Playlists. The Playlists are either User created or Software Created. Software created like "Most Recent Songs" & "Most Favorite Tracks" which are calculated in the Emodio software and uploaded to the P2. The shuffle system is probably the same as the T9. However the P2 resumes where it left off so unless you have a small number of songs you don't notice the "loop"........
What I find myself doing is that if it does "loop" I tap the "prev song" button and then it shuffles once backwards. Once you go back to a random song it will continue forward from a new point in the "loop". If you have like 1500+ songs it would be nearly impossible to notice a loop. A true random setup would be nice but I can't say I've noticed the issue once I exceeded 50 songs.
Hey, since you said you have an iPod touch as well, i've actually been struggling to figure out which one i would like better. Since you have both, which one do you prefer, or find most useful??
I would like to put it this way... Whatever the P2 can do... it can do it better than the touch. Music sounds better, videos look better, battery life is longer and bluetooth is awesome. HOWEVER it has low rent games and no WiFi. The touch gives tons of extra apps and games that make it much more "useful." If I want to watch a movie or listen to music I pick up the P2. If I want to browse Facebook or Labyrinth (maze game) I grab the touch. I bought both because they both offer unique qualities.
As a final note... if you plan to buy a Touch be sure to grab the newer model as it has the newest software and some extra features the originals don't have (internal speaker and volume buttons). The touch also has a ton of accessories (docks, chargers, adapters etc). Whatever you do make sure you get the one that has enough storage for you. I wish I had the opportunity to get the 16GB P2 when I first went shopping. Please feel free to ask about anything specific you want to know.
Thanks a lot, really appreciate the explanation, yea i have had an iPod classic for almost 2 years, 30G, but i'd love to have a touch screen player, i've only used about 10G on the iPod, which is why it'd be awesome to get a 16G touch screen player. I had thought the touch was awesome, but then looked at the P2 which looks very intising and i heard sonud quality is much better as well which is perfect. I'm in no real rush at the moment so i guess i will wait. I think that there are soon to be
many more touch screen players, and better updates for intriguing ones like the P2, hopefully that narrow the gap between the two, because i would rather have a player that you're not paying for the name(apple). lol thanks again mate
Yeah I think the Touch and P2 are the only serious competition for the touch screen devices. One has wifi and the other with bluetooth. Maybe the "Touch2" or P3 will have all the qualities we want... a P3 with Wifi, bluetooth and more generic games/apps would be amazing. If your in no hurry I'd wait it out too. They can only get cheaper either way. Christmas sales are nice!
Haha agreed, also, is the P3 actually confirmed? Or were you only referring to the next product in the samsung touch screen lineup? I've only read rumors about it
Hmmm I won't say its "confirmed" but my personal belief is that their will be a "P3" and it will adapt new technologies. I've also heard that Apple and MS have both decided that bluetooth will be a likely ingredient to their next major lineup. Yes though, for now I was just referring to the next touch based device lineup. Another thought, BestBuy will let you purchase and try an item for 30 days and return it for full money back, so you could always try both before making a decision.
No problem. Future Shop and Best Buy both offer that "exchange policy" in Canada. It doesn't work for Discs though (CD, DVD or Floppy) unless their defective. I just tried 6 Pairs of Bluetooth headphones out over the last week and they don't even bat an eye when you return them. They don't even care why youre bringing them back. Just make sure you confirm they have that policy before you buy anything... I wouldn't want to feel responsible.
to ian67camaro. the Yp-p3 will debut at ces2009, and p3 will have the volume button on the side, it will now support lossless audio format "FLAC", and it won't have as many firmware update as p2 because it'll have all the features found in p2(v 5.01). also p3 will have 32 gb later on when it appears on the store. unfortunately p3 won't have 4gb, but will have 8gb and 16gb.(expecting it to be expensive.) screensize is not yet availble, and WIFI WILL NOt INCLUDE P3!! Info(got from korean website)
Thats some awesome information. So essentially it is the same thing at this point except it has the FLAC audio format. I am not too surprised that it doesn't have WiFi as I don't think they plan to try to take away from the sound/video quality that the P2 is showcasing now. I think they would need to make the screen bigger if they were to add WiFi, and I personally wouldn't want that. Thanks again though, good find!
you are welcome. also i forgot to mentioned that P3 will have Dnse 3.0, Dnse 3.0 is evolved from Dnse 2.0. I'm also waiting to see how q1 is going to be like. lol oh thxfor the aac part for p2. i really had struggled if p2 really spported AAC format or not. so you made me that i made a good choice, buying 4gb p2 because i know that aac had small capacity with great soundquality. It was either 8gb or 4gb. Thanks again! and i'll keep update you the news for p3 as soon as i find new one. Peace out.
I read that the Q1 has the DSNe 3.0 and FLAC audio format but with the loss of screen size, widescreen resolution, WMV playback, bluetooth and the touch screen. The WMV thing is huge as then you MUST use Emodio to convert ALL movies as you need to use Samsungs SVI format. I suppose if you don't use bluetooth and don't mind watching movies on a 2.4" non-widescreen display then I guess it's perfect. If you want a stylish mp3 player with no main secondary purpose, it looks good to me =)
Hey... I'm not sure what you are asking me. I did you get your comment on the Games video so if that's what your talking about then... I don't know. Those games arn't released yet and they havn't given any hints on which devices they will be available for. If this isn't want you wanted to know feel free to ask again. Thanks!
Ahh... well it seems the S3 doesn't support anything but Samsungs SVI video format. So youre probably stuck using Emodio or whatever program they provide for you. You could use AVC to take more uncommon formats to AVI or WMV so that they will convert easy in Emodio. Also you can use it to get youtube movies ready for Emodio.
So the Emodio will convert my moves atomaticlly? .. what if it comes with samsung media? will it still convert?.. if it doesnt do you know any full free converters ?
A question: please, accord to manual the EQ have 11 bands, I want to know if can I move or control every band in a independent way and so cut some frequencies. Thanks

Dude I've had mine for a while now (still in excellent condition) but never uploaded any videos onto it.
I look online but can't seem to find the right freeware program to convert to the correct format.
I have downloaded converters that claim to change to the right format or codec but for some reason it keeps saying file format not recognised.
By any chance do you know of a program that will help. I really wanna get the full potential from this thing.
Thanks.

Samsung YP-P2JAB it it newer or older and how do you sync music onto it (media player?)
papaa7x 2 years ago
@papaa7x The P2 is a bit older now but is still a great MP3 player. You can sync music using the included software (Emodio), Windows Media Player or as a standard USB device (drag/drop support). The Samsung P3 is its replacement but has similar features and sound quality.

00raiserkiller123 2 years ago
It can be drag and drop or you can use WMP/Emodio to "sync" files to it. You can buy it from most portable audio dealers (future shop, best buy, the source, zellers). You might have to look around as the P3 is available now.

Thanks.
mitchm331 2 years ago
Good question actually. I am away from my P2 at the moment. I will try to remember to look into this for you tonight and get back to you. Sorry for the delay on this I try to get to these questions right away but have been quite busy. I'll get back to you asap.

wtf when did the 16 gb come out i wanted to get the biggest (space wise) and i could only get the 8gb... but then mine is over a year old... did it come out recently? or (dare i say it) are you mistaken and i can breathe easy?

Not sure when the 16GB came out but I bought mine about a month ago. And sorry to have to tell you, but it's definitely 16GB and not 8GB

I actually bought the 2gb P2 and it's not bad... i only use it for music and videos so it was a good choice
ShockerHedgehog 2 years ago
I bought this as my 1st mp3 player so this may be a dumb question. I am not a headphone user; I plug it into my car and stereo's aux input. The volume is way too low. I have to turn the car way up and the stereo is barely auditable. I have the volume cranked way up on the player too. I plugged a friend's iphone into my car today; no volume issue there; plenty of punch. Is there some other sound level setting on the P2 that I haven't found?
playsteelE9th 2 years ago
Interesting problem... If you plug a pair of earbuds (even just the ones the P2 came with) into your P2 and listen through them is the sound loud enough? I can't say I have ever tried the P2 through an Aux input before as my stereo doesn't have one. If the volume is good through headphones than I would expect the P2 to be ok. Also, did you use the same cable to connect the iPhone as you did the P2?
ian67camaro 2 years ago
I just tried the earbuds; had to set the volume 1/2 way up on the scale to get an acceptable level. I have no reference point as this is my 1st player but that seems very high on the scale comparable to other sound-producing sources. We did use the same cable when we tested the iPhone.
playsteelE9th 2 years ago
This is dependant on our opinions of "acceptable level." However I find that with no background noice the P2 is quite loud at about 1/3 the volume and very very loud at full volume. Their is an EQ setting you could check in the settings.

Hi.. do you know what parameter should I use to export videos in order to play them on the p2..? The videos that came on the p2 are not svi but wmv.. I use gspot to get their parameters and then I convert other videos using those same parameters but the p2 won't play them unless I convert them to svi.. Why does it play the .wmv videos that came on it but not "my" wmv videos..?
UntakenNick 3 years ago
When you convert the videos they do need to go to a WMV9 format. I'm not familiar with gspot and am unable to check it out. I use anyvideoconverter free version to convert videos and they seem to play in WMV no problem on the P2. Check out my video on "Converting Videos to P2".
ian67camaro 3 years ago
Thanks for the reply.. And gspot is not a converter, but a program to obtain the codec information about a video..
Anyway, playing videos is just an extra.. P2's primary function is to play music..
Thanks again..
UntakenNick 3 years ago
dude just go to samsung emodio much easier i use it to put movies on my p2
jeremy23jacinto 3 years ago
It doesn't work with all formats. I've already figured it out anyway..
They must be wmv9. Size 320x240 or 480x272. Fps 23.9 or 30. And bitrate less than 1800 kbps..
UntakenNick 3 years ago
can you go on the internet
headhunternoob 3 years ago
Where do you get the videos from and how do you get it in Emodio in the movie section??? Please tell...
werewolf478 3 years ago
All of the movies that I copy to my P2 I own. I have converted the DVD to a movie file using the Gordian Knot/Robot4Rip method. Then I drag and drop the final AVI file into Emodio to convert it to an SVI file. I also tend to convert the AVIs to WMV but their isn't much difference over size/quality/time difference. Check out my DVDs to P2 Video for more info.

ian67camaro 3 years ago
how do you changed the uci because every time I try it say not suported format
Xemnas103 3 years ago
You can download UCIs through Emodio on the Emodio website tab. If you download them from my mediafire site you can copy them into the UCI folder on your P2 and they *should* allow you to change your UCI in the Menu Styles Section in the P2 Settings. Make sure you are using Firmware v5.08 or 5.10 as they may not work with earlier versions.
ian67camaro 3 years ago
Hello! Sorry if i am bothering you with all my questions about P2..but u're a genius ! I wanted to ask you a question ( it's the last i promise u XD ) Do you know how i can put in the P2 the TTS function and how does it works? really thanks =)
HsISimone 3 years ago
Thanks for the comment! The TTS (text to Speech) function isn't really a P2 feature but more of a Emodio feature. Emodio can be set up to convert a text document into a verbal MP3. The MP3 can then be copied to the P2 so that you can listen to what is said. Thats really all their is too it. As far as setting it up you need the Emodio TTS speech file. Check my other videos for my Mediafire site link and download the file and install it. Let me know if you have troubles. Thanks!
ian67camaro 3 years ago
=) really thanks! it works and i thank you for the time that you've dedicated to answer to my questions! All the best wishes to u !!
( sorry my bad enlglish i have to work on it a bit XD )
HsISimone 3 years ago
i was wondering if you could explain how to upload the address book? thx :)
xbnk91 3 years ago
The easiest method is to use a phone that already has a list of contacts on it. Connect the phone to your P2 and then "upload" the contact list from the phone to the P2 via a bluetooth connection. The P2 stores each contact in a seperate file, in a format called "VCARD". Its basically a text file with the info in it. Their are vcard programs available that will create the files and you can copy them directly to the P2 as well. Sorry I don't have the means to give better instructions.
ian67camaro 3 years ago
hello man! =) i wanted to ask u a thing..!
How can i put album's cover on the P2?? =)
HsISimone 3 years ago
The album covers are actually embedded into the Mp3 that you are listening too. Find your songs in Emodio and right click one of them. Click "Properties" and from within the window that pops up will be an option to select the album art for that song. You can also select multiple songs and right click to search for album art on many. I recommend doing 10-20 at a time rather than hundreds as it can take some time.

Do you like your touch or p2 better?
tskitz 3 years ago
I have been meaning to do a video comparison of the two for quite some time. The touch is awsome when you are at a store or mall and want to access the internet or listen to a quick tune. The P2 is better for active situations like running, sports or long distance listening. I would pick the P2 over the touch for sound quality and bluetooth support. You may choose the touch for appz and visuals... its not an easy comparison.

Oh, I see. Thanks for replying, people usually don't. D: Which do you think is more of a bang for the buck, and which do you use more?

I have never tried recognizing the P2 on either the 360 or the PS3. I would suspect that the P2 would work on the PS3, especially in UMS mode (see video regarding korean firmware change). I don't know why your songs don't play right... I would make sure you are on firmware 5.10 before doing anything rash.

hey.
Is this model the YP-P2JCBY version? That is the one that I just bought.
Also, I've seen some videos where the user supposedly played a speaker on the P2. I havent found any speakers...are there supposed to be any speakers that comes with or within the P2?
JEpik111 3 years ago
Yes it is that version. Their is no speaker on any current version of the P2. Their is however a small cradle that has a mono speaker on it. I don't know the name of the device but if you youtube search "P2 speaker" it should come up. Looks like a little "pod". I beleive their are cradles/docks that you can get from walmart that are universal (usb plug and connect to headphone jack) that have a speaker.

Does it comes with a cd to install? or is their some type of program you need to insert the music?
please Write Back. im thinking of buying one but i need to know that first. thanks!!!
kawasakiindustries 3 years ago
The P2 is a flash Mp3/Video player. That means that you can simply insert the cable into your computer, open the "My Computer" window and it will appear there and let you Drag&Drop files into it's Music folder. Now their is a CD with a program that you CAN use to upload songs, playlists, videos but you don't have to use it. The included software is called Emodio and it's best purpose is to convert movie types to a compatible format for the P2. No Software is "Required".

Ok thanks man.its cuz i have an itouch, but it keeps on crashing and im tired of it,so im gonna buy the p2.Thanks alot!!!!!

What do you think how many the p3 (32GB) will cost and when will it release?
JoPiDori 3 years ago

KiNgZeUs81 3 years ago
Hmmm I have only ever used my Moto V360 to connect so I have little troubleshooting experience. I would try power both devices off. Power them on. Enable bluetooth on the P2 if you haven't already. Set your phone to search for a device. Put your P2 in the Mobile Phone menu. Once either device connects the phone should show on the P2. Tap it & it should ask for a code of "0000". That should be it. If that isn't working I would go to the anythingbutipod forums and ask there. Hope that helps!
ian67camaro 3 years ago
hey dude
what do you think of the new samsung p3?
im wondering which one to get between o2 and the p3.
whydontyou96 3 years ago
I think the P3 sounds awesome so far. As it is I would be very interested to pickup a P3 just for the new audio types. I think a 32GB model would be great too. So far though I think they will need more functionality to really get people to trade in their P2s for P3s. If I were on the market I would have to decide first if I could wait until the P3 is released, and then decide if it will be worth the big $ it will get to start. Not to mention the P2 will be way cheaper by then.
ian67camaro 3 years ago
much appreciated dude.
whydontyou96 3 years ago
sry this is a dumb questin but is this a phone or mp3 player?
lilbrush3414 3 years ago
Hey lilbrush, the Samsung P2 is an mp3 player with a microphone for voice recording. The Player has bluetooth support which allows you to connect to a supported phone and have it act as a cordless headset. You could be listening to music, a call can come in via bluetooth and you could answer it using the P2 while your music auto-pauses. Nifty stuff but the P2 can only act as a headset and has no built in phone features. Let me know if you want any other information.

ian67camaro 3 years ago
I'm between this and a Cowon D2... This one looks better physically but the Cowon supposedly has better audio quality... ahh I don't know what to do...
kev4naru 3 years ago
Hey Kev, I have only done minor reading on the D2 but I'll throw out my opinion. If you are looking for an MP3 player with amazing sound quality with few extras the D2 is awesome. Audio Quality and battery life are its strongest points. It supports lossless audio formats which can/will sound better than the P2. Sound is good but video is going to be terrible on 2.5" at 320x240 rez. P2 has some games and offers bluetooth as well. If Music is your only concern, then let your wallet decide.
ian67camaro 3 years ago
One other note. The P2s audio quality is above average. I have tested it against the zen, shuffle, nano, touch, zune and muvo and their is no doubt in my mind that with no special EQ settings enabled the P2 is the best. I am not the only one who will agree but take it as an opinion as I'm sure their is someone who would disagree. Either way, if you are an average listener the P2 should be more than good enough... If you want more than above average then consider the D2 for sure. Enjoy!
ian67camaro 3 years ago
Thanks for your opinion. I discovered another possibility, the Cowon S9. It supposedly going to be released December and it looks awesome, and it's going to have a lot of the features the Samsung P2 has, even some that the Ipod Touch has, but it'll probably be very expensive compared to the Samsung P2.
I'll wait to see what it'll cost. If it's just a little more I might end up getting it instead.
kev4naru 3 years ago
In the meantime I'll go to my local Best Buy to see if I can try the Samsung with my earphones, if the sound quality is more than enough (and if the Cowon S9 is very expensive), I'll probably buy the Samsung P2. If not then the Cowon D2 it is!:)
kev4naru 3 years ago
Sounds like a plan! Don't forget to try the different DSNe settings as they can make a huge difference from song to song. Good idea with the S9 too... it does look pretty sweet. You should wait as you know that Christmas is going to bring the prices down on the P2. Boxing Day would be a good time to pick one up too. Either way be sure to check back and tell us what you picked up. Your opinion on the sound quality from P2 to S9 to D2 would be great too!
ian67camaro 3 years ago
oh..i mean that Lyric Station doesn't recognise my P2 on the PC List! i can find Disk D Disk C Disk H etc etc..but not P2 :S
HsISimone 3 years ago
Check the version of your P2 through the P2 menus under SETTINGS > SYSTEM > ABOUT and make sure you have KR 5.10 or KR 5.08. Without one of the Korean versions your P2 doesn't have Lyrics support. Also make sure your Lyrics Station was updated to 2.55. If it still isn't working and both versions are correct then I would just add the lyrics to the MP3s on your computer and then copy those MP3s to your P2 using Emodio or however you normally do it. Let me know how all this goes or if you need help

vegnagunSX 3 years ago
Hey VegnagunSX! Actually I have made a video on EXACTLY how to put the dictionary on. Check it out. Scroll through the list of video responses to this movie and you will find the one about "US To Korean Firmware + UMS + Dictionary". It has all the links and information to get the Lite or Full dictionary Loaded onto your P2. I will PM you with the video link. Enjoy!
ian67camaro 3 years ago
^ ^ thx .. ^^ well , i guess it's work for the link u put on . thx buddy i appreciate alot ^^ erm.. but they don read out ??
vegnagunSX 3 years ago

I dont have a p2 but guess what, Ive just ordered one and I'm so excited :D Whats your personal idea about the Sound Quality and it's Enhancement ?
varunasingh 3 years ago
I appreciate the comment & am glad you found my video informative. I actually don't use the FM radio much as most of the time I am driving or running and like my playlists. Whether I use it or not the radio is nice to have. As far as the sound quality goes... its awesome! I have owned a creative, rca, ipod shuffle, ipod touch and theirs no doubt in my mind that the P2 comes out on top. The DNSe settings are fantastic. You won't be disappointed!
ian67camaro 3 years ago

varunasingh 3 years ago
You could text using the PHONE while paired via bluetooth with your P2. However their is no way to use the P2 to do the actual texting. File transfer, voice dial, redial, dial by number, dial via address book, answer and disconnect are all the options available on the P2 while paired with a phone.
ian67camaro 3 years ago
ooh also, after the update to v 5.01, will it be more sensitive to tap the screen? i thnk that is what i heard from someone.
chltmdwp 3 years ago
Actually I think the sensitivity was fixed much earlier on. I know that it was done before v5.08. I use 5.10 now (Korean) and it is great. I have had NO issues with the touch ability. Although I never used it when it first came out so I don't know how "bad" it was. Either way with the newest firmware (Korean or US) you'll be happy.

is it drag and drop??
or can you use itunes with it?
thx =0)
randyrockksyoursox 3 years ago
Its a flash memory player so it is drag and drop. You can use the supplied SMS/Emodio software or any other flash supported software. I know theirs tons out there (windows media player, media monkey etc). No iTunes though; a good thing in my opinion.
ian67camaro 3 years ago
also can you put your photos as a wallpaper?
whydontyou96 3 years ago
I tend to use computer generated abstracts as my wallpapers.
ian67camaro 3 years ago
is the screen scratch resistant or it gets scratch easily?
whydontyou96 3 years ago
I think the screen is scratch resistant. I have had mine for several months now with NO screen cover and I have only a small scratch. I am pretty careful but I use mine about 10-15 hours a day and I take it everywhere. It does come with a transparent screen protector that is best applied right out of the box.
ian67camaro 3 years ago
sweet. thanks!
whydontyou96 3 years ago
I was just wondering if the P2 allows you to search for certain songs instead of scrolling through your whole library to find a certain song. Also I was wondering if the shuffle system is better in this player because I own a samsung YP-T9 and the shuffle repeats in the same order every time you turn on the player unless you reset it. I'm just debating if I should get this player..the ipod touch or the creative zen.
Thanks
Panther15 3 years ago
The P2 doesn't actually have a "search" option but you can filter your library by Artists, Albums, Songs, Genres and Playlists. The Playlists are either User created or Software Created. Software created like "Most Recent Songs" & "Most Favorite Tracks" which are calculated in the Emodio software and uploaded to the P2. The shuffle system is probably the same as the T9. However the P2 resumes where it left off so unless you have a small number of songs you don't notice the "loop"........
ian67camaro 3 years ago
What I find myself doing is that if it does "loop" I tap the "prev song" button and then it shuffles once backwards. Once you go back to a random song it will continue forward from a new point in the "loop". If you have like 1500+ songs it would be nearly impossible to notice a loop. A true random setup would be nice but I can't say I've noticed the issue once I exceeded 50 songs.
ian67camaro 3 years ago
The prev song method also works on the T9 and thanks for the speedy reply!
Panther15 3 years ago
Hey, since you said you have an iPod touch as well, i've actually been struggling to figure out which one i would like better. Since you have both, which one do you prefer, or find most useful??
skeezo87 3 years ago

I've only read rumors about it
skeezo87 3 years ago
Hmmm I won't say its "confirmed" but my personal belief is that their will be a "P3" and it will adapt new technologies. I've also heard that Apple and MS have both decided that bluetooth will be a likely ingredient to their next major lineup. Yes though, for now I was just referring to the next touch based device lineup. Another thought, BestBuy will let you purchase and try an item for 30 days and return it for full money back, so you could always try both before making a decision.

Wow i didn't know that, thanks a lot!

Would this work on the S3?
xSkyPhoenix 3 years ago
Hey... I'm not sure what you are asking me. I did you get your comment on the Games video so if that's what your talking about then... I don't know. Those games arn't released yet and they havn't given any hints on which devices they will be available for. If this isn't want you wanted to know feel free to ask again. Thanks!
ian67camaro 3 years ago
OH sorry, I though that this video was the converter but it isnt ..
sorry for the mis comment.
xSkyPhoenix 3 years ago
Ahh... well it seems the S3 doesn't support anything but Samsungs SVI video format. So youre probably stuck using Emodio or whatever program they provide for you. You could use AVC to take more uncommon formats to AVI or WMV so that they will convert easy in Emodio. Also you can use it to get youtube movies ready for Emodio.
ian67camaro 3 years ago
So the Emodio will convert my moves atomaticlly? .. what if it comes with samsung media? will it still convert?.. if it doesnt do you know any full free converters ?
and will future S3 updates make more formats?
