  • Fantastic!!! ^

  • Incrediably lovely....

  • Exciting & exquisite....(¸.•¨¯`*•●♥Ƹ̵̡Ӝ̵̨̄Ʒ♥...

  • Angel: Listen to my beautiful music!

Monk: I'm too hung over for that shit, go away.

  • ehh dear people .. WHY does no1 play this .??? OMG .. love IT !! but you can't find any other version / other people who have played it ... such a shame ... every1 keeps playing the 4 seasons but the other works are often forgotten or neglected by most : /

  • @usikd Probably because it's too difficult ;)

  • I like its rhythm and sound.

  • vivaldi vivaldi you'll always remain in our hearts

vivaldi live in these end times.

you remain the only one to offer vibration divine

  • Haendel wrote a viollin concerto in B flat major under the title "Sonata a 5", it is a beautiful piece, an early work from Rome probably.

  • I LOVE BAROQUE MUSIC!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • what does RV 368 mean??

  • RV numbers are used to identify specific Vivaldi works. Each Vivaldi composition has a unique number.

  • It stands for _Ryom-Verzeichnis_ after Peter Ryom's catalog of Vivaldi's work. _Verzeichnis_ means "index" in German and it is this affix which is abbreviated by the "V" found in such catalog acronyms as _BWV_, _HWV_, _KV_, _SV_, _TWV_, _BuxWV_, etc. These catalogs are not always named after their author but also the composer.

  • @knightsintodreams The Ryom-Verzeichnis or Répertoire des oeuvres d'Antonio Vivaldi (both often abbreviated RV) is a now-standard catalog of the music of Antonio Vivaldi created by Peter Ryom.

Jean Cassignol

  • So in your opinion who do you think is the better one- Vivaldi or Paganini???

  • RV 368 is just a virtuoso oddity. Paganini's concertos are irreplaceable.

  • In an anecdote in which Vivaldi gave a private concert, the duke said that his playing was so virtuousic that it was almost unpleasent to listen to. :)

  • Thanks for this info

    Duke Alain :-)

  • Vivaldi was a violin virtuoso?! Wow I didnt even know he played!

  • Well duh, no offense. :)

    Hence the Four Seasons!

  • Well, most composer who have written concertos arent violinists themselves. Brahms, Shostakovich, Tchiakovsky, Barber etc....

  • But those are all modern composers. We talkin baroque here.

  • how about Handel?

  • Handel never wrote a violin concerto. He wrote solos for violins in a number of works, and the style of the writing shows that he a thorough understanding of the instrument, and it's quite possible he played a bit.

Bach, who wrote some of the most famous violin pieces of the baroque, was concertino at age 17 apparently.

  • actually I read about handel, and he seems to have played the violin in the opera theatre in Hamburg when he was a young man.

  • Handel was really good at the violin. He was second violinist in an opera house before he wrote Almira!

  • Bach was also a violin virtuoso, he was concertino at 17.

  • ...a CONCERTINO (!?!)...."

  • You seem to be confused, bersa888. Guarneris is saying that "he [Bach] was [in the] concertino at 17." Provided that this is correct (and that the ensemble was skilled and the music demanding), Bach would have been amongst the most accomplished players, for, the parts written for the concertino group are more wanting than those belonging to the ripieno which are typically less difficult.

  • Well, it makes more sense the way you described it, of course, because saying "he was a concertino" makes no sense in Italian :-D

  • Compliments for the violinist! But mostly compliments for Vivaldi. :))))))

  • It's a "chef-d'oeuvre"!

  • grande sardelli!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! che ci regala sempre queste perle!

  • i cant believe how someone can create something like this... i love vivaldi.

I love winter from the four seasonsXD

  • Holy hell, it really is a demanding concerto! Ahead of its time in terms of its technical aspect, I'd say!

  • Indeed. Another piece that comes to mind as a show off piece is the concerto for two violins in D minor (I'm going to upload it soon). This piece is quite manic and it's been speculated that it was played by Vivaldi himself and Pisendel.

  • flippin amazing. i wish i was that good.

  • Tricky...!

  • One has to be very good at one's violin to perform this and at a high grade level. It is as stated not suprising that this piece hasn't been played before considering there are about 90 pieces in total of violin concertos.

  • when you claim that this is the first performance of this piece, are you suggesting that this had until this particular performance never been recorded in the modern era? and if so, why?

  • I wrote that this is the "first recording of this piece".

Frankly, I don't know why this wasn't recorded before. The CD notes only say that this piece is damn hard and this is the premier recording of the work. Vivaldi did write over 90 violin concertos, so I'm not terribly surprised that it took so long for some of them to be recorded.

  • Actually, Vivaldi wrote a little over 250 violin concertos.

  • fucking good

  • splendid performance indeed

  • Wonderfull!!! thank you so much MISTER harmonico101! so cool!

  • This is seriously one of the most beautiful compositions Vivaldi has ever created.
