Difference between r160a and B's? is it just like the r142as and r42s between the number?

R160A-1's run in 4 cars sets for the BMT Eastern division and have Alstom propulsion. R160A-2's have Alstom propulsion but run in 5 car sets. R160B's 8843 and above have Siemens propulsion and also run in 5 car sets.
