I was being tongue-in-cheek since John Gibson mentioned Keith Olbermann having been a sports reporter. Olbermann does pretty well. But being in corporate media, you must not get too far to the left, like Phil Donahue did -- or they will get rid of you. Similarly, Gibson has to keep his feet planted firmly on the right, as he is on Fox News.
So, by Keith's own analysis, the CPAC event was celibrating all of those as well?
Okay, I can buy the Jefferson/Burr one... when Jefferson lost the election and had his cronies in Congress apoint him, just like Bush. Jefferson was a Democrat, by the way.
In case you missed it, I now being sarcastic (this notification is for people like P00ly-o (the P00linator), my good advisary, who tends to not understand two things: sarcasm and facts.
For a college edumicaterated feller, Keith seems to not know what "Know Nothing" mean in respect to the movement (I meant "I won't betray my friends" by the way).
Oh and as for the date, here's a so what:
1904 Madama Butterfly premieres in Milan
1819 The United States House of Representatives passes the Missouri Compromise
1621 Myles Standish is appointed as first commander of Plymouth colony

@Mauhadeeb28 What context do you need Mauhadeeb? He was talking about Cheney. Then he went on to play the race card.... again, to disparage a group that he doesn't like. That's the context.
The point is that Olby & other lefties name-call when any conservative group or idea start to gain traction. You can count on it with the consistency of the sun setting in the West.
I was simply pointing out that they cut and pasted to make it sound as if it was one whole sentence. It is very misleading, and quite unnecessary. Olby can dig himself a grave without any help. We should not these types of tactics when arguing against this man. It makes us look just as bad.
"Olby can dig himself a grave without any help." I agree with that.
I was simply saying that I don't get your "context" issue. Is there a YT vid that shows a different context? If there is, please direct me to it. I don't think there was any cutting & pasting - I saw that part of his show. He was trying to smear Cheney, and then he moved on to trying to smear the Tea Party. What was misleading about this clip?
At :08 and :11 their are clear cut ins. It is quite easy to hear. By "in context" I mean what Olby said in entirety without cutting and chopping the reel. When you cut and paste soundbytes it can lead people to believe there is more to the story, but some part was cut out to cover it up, hence misleading.
I do not doubt he was trying to smear someone. That seems to be all he does and he can't even do that well judging by his ratings.
@Mauhadeeb28 So because there might be editing, people might think it is out of context. OK. I just wondered if you had any knowledge that anything said in this clip was out of context. My point is that just because someone edits a clip (for time consideration, or any other legit reason) does that mean it's out of context or misleading?
No, it doesn't automatically mean it is out of context. Do I have any knowledge of it being out of context? No, but I would be a fool to take everything I hear at face value. Typically people don't cut and paste unless they are trying to hide something or have an agenda. I merely choose to doubt sources such as Olby or Gibson since they are both in a verbal war with each other. They will do whatever is necessary to one up each other in battle.

John "Albino Boy" Gibson is a chickenhawk. And if the Iraq surge had worked, Bush would not have had to pay the resistance fighters not to kill Americans. And the refugees would have returned home.
By just about all educated analysis, the surge worked. And paying those people was part of the strategy. If you have a problem with Gibson talking about the surge, then you have a problem with most people's assessment - including president Obama.
And the surge was as far away from "elite doctrine" as it could be. Elite doctrine was to give up, get out & try to negotiate..... something. The surge strategy was not popular among any "elites" - that is, until it proved to be successful.
Are you arguing that you have to do some unsavory things to turn the tide of an ugly war? No argument from me on that.
OK, I'll try it again. I don't consider giving "terrorists" money, to be a success. I consider a dramatic drop in murders, attacks & overall level of violence - as "successful". Particularly since it was the result of the surge strategy.
You are confusing giving terrorists money with a surge in troops.
But besides the money, there was also the matter of not allowing the refugees to return to their homes in religiously mixed areas, which decreased violence but left people homeless.
The surge strategy was not just an increase in troops. There were many elements, and together they dramatically brought down the number of attacks - against our troops & the Iraqis.
But I'm getting the impression that you don't think that was a good thing.
@4teepee Wow, you got out the dictionary, what a relief. That's a surge, "The Surge" was a comprehensive strategy, you stubborn jackass. Google it.
We paid off people to resist & drive out Al Qaeda - it's time to get your head out of your ass. We're buying people off in Afghanistan as well, with Obama's blessing.
If you want to win a debate, either know your topic OR pick someone dumber than you to argue with. Good luck with that.
Neither clever nor relevant. But maybe you can back that up. Can you point to what I wrote which indicates that I don't have a "grasp of the English language"?
Really, that's it? To look up a word that both you & I already know? The definition of surge is the same as it was when I learned it in grade school. I think you're a moron, but I'm not condescending enough to presume that you don't know what surge means. For someone at the ripe old age of 109, you're not very mature.
A surge is a temporary increase in force. "The Surge" was a comprehensive strategy that had many components, including an increase of troops, and a new counter-terrorism strategy. But I've already said this. Was it necessary to restate the obvious?
@4teepee I'm not following you. Are you trying to say that "The Surge" as it applies to the Iraq war must be defined as "surge" is defined in your dictionary?
So you are saying that "The Surge" strategy is the same as "surge" is defined in your dictionary.
Was "Operation Desert Storm" our country's attempt to impact the weather in the middle east? I'm pretty sure that a desert storm is not defined as a military campaign. What color is the sky over your teepee? Pretty sure we don't live on the same planet.
And how many blacks are news anchors on MSNBC Olbermann? I wonder if Mr "People of Color" Olbermann lives in a all black neighborhood? Or does he live in a white gated community? Where are the people of color you hangout with Mr' Olbermann?
p00lboy, your hollow arguments are as weak & predictable as Olby's. Racism is not part of the Tea Party platform. The fact that some racists show up for some of their events, does not make the group racist. You and Olby should go after the KKK, the Nation of Islam, the Black Panthers and others - who have racist platforms & racist members.
But you won't go after those groups - because you're not about stopping racism, you're about calling people names.
Who accepts them? You mean at a rally, they (whoever they are) should do what to people with racist signs? Forcibly have them removed? Is that how it works p00lboy?
I'm not talking about organizers, I'm talking about the people who represent the party. And yes, I've seen many examples of racist protesters present with no effort by the leaders to tell them off.
You should contact them to find out if they have made any statements or requests regarding this issue. I have a feeling they will show you that they've addressed it.
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
That's ridiculous. If they've made public statements denouncing racists protesters, then those statements would be public and easily accessible. They're not, because they don't exist.
@p00lman It's not ridiculous. I'm not going to waste my time looking, but you seem to be bothered by this racism issue. Why don't you look into it. I'm guessing that some official statements have been made. I know that where I live, local Tea Party rallies have had no racist posters at all. There message is smaller government and lowering the national debt. Many non-white people attended and the speakers were critical of both political parties. Race is not the issue.
that racism bullshit is just the left calling names to distract and take away credibility to Americans who are protesting our corrupt gov. If you wanna be a puppet for the left gov. who is now in full control, go ahead pinocchio just remember you are working against poor common Americans who are trying to do something to make their lives better. Try and sleep well at night.
This Olberman Guy still out there throwing names all around huh? This Guy just flings insult after insult at Conservatives. Look, this weiner dingaling Olbermann will more than likely be out of job soon.
Calling olbermann an intelligent man who does excellent research is an enourmously gross overstatement of his job performance. Olbermann barely gets enough ratings to get 1/5 of his "rival" O'Reilly.
Oh thats right. How could I be so *insert big eloquent word that olbydick would use*. O'reilly is actually polite and discusses issues other than pushing his point of view on others. Calling o'reilly his rival would be actually saying that olbydick could compete with him. Which he can't cause his ratings always indicate that only two people are watching his show at any one time.
SAOrules, I was agreeing with you. Saying Olbermann is O'Reilly's rival is an insult to O'Reilly since Olbermann is not even close to his status and never will be. Guess you didn't get the sarcasm.
Ah okay! Sorry I should have known lol. I think conservative talk radio people attract a lot of liberals who psychotically track everything they say, kind of like Media Matters! It could be the same for the other side in some cases since the majority of Keith Olbermann's viewers are probably conservatives who find his show more entertaining than trashy MTV shows...

Giving money to the "terrorists" was "successful" -- if you call that success. But Iran wound up the winner.
And you can't get more elite than the Bushes.

"Giving money to the "terrorists" was "successful" -- if you call that success. But Iran wound up the winner."
No. I characterized a dramatic drop in murders, attacks & the overall level of violence - as "successful". Pay attention.
Club6010 2 years ago
OK, I'll try it again. I don't consider giving "terrorists" money, to be a success. I consider a dramatic drop in murders, attacks & overall level of violence - as "successful". Particularly since it was the result of the surge strategy.
klrdotorg 2 years ago
BTW, you might have a point about the war helping Iran, but the surge didn't help Iran.
klrdotorg 2 years ago 2
You are confusing giving terrorists money with a surge in troops.
But besides the money, there was also the matter of not allowing the refugees to return to their homes in religiously mixed areas, which decreased violence but left people homeless.
4teepee 2 years ago
The surge strategy was not just an increase in troops. There were many elements, and together they dramatically brought down the number of attacks - against our troops & the Iraqis.
But I'm getting the impression that you don't think that was a good thing.
klrdotorg 2 years ago 3
A surge is an increase in troops -- by definition.
I wonder what the conservative reaction would be if Obama put Al Qaeda and the Taliban on the payroll.
4teepee 2 years ago
@4teepee Wow, you got out the dictionary, what a relief. That's a surge, "The Surge" was a comprehensive strategy, you stubborn jackass. Google it.
We paid off people to resist & drive out Al Qaeda - it's time to get your head out of your ass. We're buying people off in Afghanistan as well, with Obama's blessing.
If you want to win a debate, either know your topic OR pick someone dumber than you to argue with. Good luck with that.

Your swinish illiteracy is appalling. Buy a dictionary.

Let me know if you think of a clever reply.... or if you have something relevant to add.
klrdotorg 2 years ago
Let me know if you get a grasp of the English language.
4teepee 2 years ago
Neither clever nor relevant. But maybe you can back that up. Can you point to what I wrote which indicates that I don't have a "grasp of the English language"?
klrdotorg 2 years ago
Look up the word "surge." As for cleverness, I am not here to entertain you. I am here to educate you.
Hope that helps.
4teepee 2 years ago
Really, that's it? To look up a word that both you & I already know? The definition of surge is the same as it was when I learned it in grade school. I think you're a moron, but I'm not condescending enough to presume that you don't know what surge means. For someone at the ripe old age of 109, you're not very mature.
klrdotorg 2 years ago 4
What a mature response. lol. And you either don't understand the meaning of surge, or your previous posts are disingenuous.
4teepee 2 years ago
A surge is a temporary increase in force. "The Surge" was a comprehensive strategy that had many components, including an increase of troops, and a new counter-terrorism strategy. But I've already said this. Was it necessary to restate the obvious?

Nice try, but you (and Bush) don't get to define your own terms to suit your convenience, 1984 style.
4teepee 2 years ago
@4teepee I'm not following you. Are you trying to say that "The Surge" as it applies to the Iraq war must be defined as "surge" is defined in your dictionary?

I'm saying that words have meanings, and, as far as I am concerned, propagandists do not get to redefine them to serve their interests.
4teepee 2 years ago
So you are saying that "The Surge" strategy is the same as "surge" is defined in your dictionary.
Was "Operation Desert Storm" our country's attempt to impact the weather in the middle east? I'm pretty sure that a desert storm is not defined as a military campaign. What color is the sky over your teepee? Pretty sure we don't live on the same planet.

I don't use the term Operation Desert Storm or Operation Iraqi Freedom. Try to pay attention.

And how many blacks are news anchors on MSNBC Olbermann? I wonder if Mr "People of Color" Olbermann lives in a all black neighborhood? Or does he live in a white gated community? Where are the people of color you hangout with Mr' Olbermann?

Are you racist too?
p00lman 2 years ago
p00lboy, your hollow arguments are as weak & predictable as Olby's.

The fact that the group accepts the participants of racists and racist sentiment does give it racist overtones.
p00lman 2 years ago
Who accepts them? You mean at a rally, they (whoever they are) should do what to people with racist signs? Forcibly have them removed? Is that how it works p00lboy?

No, they vocally renounce such supporters. That's how it works.
Not even Gibson is willing to do such a thing. Instead, he's defending racists.
p00lman 2 years ago
p00lboy, you have no idea if organizers have renounced or discouraged displays of racism.
klrdotorg 2 years ago 2
I'm not talking about organizers, I'm talking about the people who represent the party. And yes, I've seen many examples of racist protesters present with no effort by the leaders to tell them off.
p00lman 2 years ago
Do you know who the people who represent the party are?
klrdotorg 2 years ago
Yep.

You should contact them to find out if they have made any statements or requests regarding this issue. I have a feeling they will show you that they've addressed it.

That's ridiculous. If they've made public statements denouncing racists protesters, then those statements would be public and easily accessible. They're not, because they don't exist.
p00lman 2 years ago
@p00lman It's not ridiculous. I'm not going to waste my time looking, but you seem to be bothered by this racism issue. Why don't you look into it. I'm guessing that some official statements have been made. I know that where I live, local Tea Party rallies have had no racist posters at all. There message is smaller government and lowering the national debt. Many non-white people attended and the speakers were critical of both political parties. Race is not the issue.
klrdotorg 2 years ago 4
that racism bullshit is just the left calling names to distract and take away credibility to Americans who are protesting our corrupt gov. If you wanna be a puppet for the left gov. who is now in full control, go ahead pinocchio just remember you are working against poor common Americans who are trying to do something to make their lives better. Try and sleep well at night.

This caller has a man crush on Olbermann. Sounds like they would make a beautiful couple.
=)
rubyredlipstick71 2 years ago 6
Calling olbermann an intelligent man who does excellent research is an enourmously gross overstatement of his job performance. Olbermann barely gets enough ratings to get 1/5 of his "rival" O'Reilly.
SAOrules 2 years ago 4
Yes agreed. I was being facetious. Nothing about Olbermann screams intelligent from him. His favorite word or MSNBC for that matter, is racist.
Listening to this caller for the second time does sound creepy. I bet he has a Olbermann shrine and enjoys himself to it on a daily basis. =)
rubyredlipstick71 2 years ago 2
No! Don't insult Bill O'Reilly by calling Olbermann his "rival".
pzilla98 2 years ago
Oh thats right. How could I be so *insert big eloquent word that olbydick would use*. O'reilly is actually polite and discusses issues other than pushing his point of view on others. Calling o'reilly his rival would be actually saying that olbydick could compete with him. Which he can't cause his ratings always indicate that only two people are watching his show at any one time.
SAOrules 2 years ago 2
SAOrules, I was agreeing with you. Saying Olbermann is O'Reilly's rival is an insult to O'Reilly since Olbermann is not even close to his status and never will be. Guess you didn't get the sarcasm.
pzilla98 2 years ago 3
No I got the sarcasm. I was just playing along buddy!
Btw how does Gibson keep getting these idiot callers to call his talk show?
SAOrules 2 years ago 3
