  • i saw this in a 3D light show, they played the whole side one of this album and had trippy lights. I swear to god, most incredible thing I have ever seen

  • lol @ this.........

  • I have a pink floyd shirt

  • cant believe this came out in '73

  • This song is supposed to describe the fears and pressures of travel - fear of death, you know. So, it was called "The Travel Sequence" before the Studio version came out.

  • Why is it that this type of music has to be associated with using drugs ..Do you have to be high listening to it I don't think soo just saying ...And why would someone admit to even using drugs to get high on the internet duhhhhhhhhh

  • @sweethonesty520 Because stoners listen to this type of fast paced music with all this creepy noises in the background and it makes you feel light headed and dizzy. Just a good feeling (I dont do drugs_) And people admit to doing drugs because.... its the internet. Even if a cop wanted to track down every pothead on here, it would take them a long time just to find one person.

  • Maybe you shouldnt be getting high GoodTimesBadTimes

  • sounds like... mad scientist at work

  • I really love this song. The night of 11/11/11 I listened to this one full blast after walking out of my friends apartment. I left because I was feeling Extreme paranoia that night and I wanted to go listen to Pink Floyd in my car. 2 minutes after I left, the Cops showed up at his apartment and busted some other people. Pink Floyd, you saved my ass LoL :P

  • @TheDBST i sincerely hope all of your fingers are removed as painfully as possible just for blaming dubstep on pink floyd

  • 1:10

And that, kids, is where your dubstep came from. So the next time your parents tell you to turn that shit down, tell them to blame their beloved Pink Floyd.

  • This album... was number one. Black light posters and Darkside. I don't think floyd will ever get old... Today's music kinda sucks....

  • The concept album. Gone are the days when songs were structured around a theme. Musicians lived in the studio and let the creative process flow. Experimentation run rampant. Just about every song on those albums are masterpieces. Progressive rock run rampant. Not only did those artists create great music but they made panning, stereo separation and instrument solos an integral part of the experience.

"On The Run" is 3 1/2 minutes of pure bliss!!

Give me the classics, any day!!!

  • Classic. Never knew who actually did this one. Nice use of the DCOs, LFOs, VCOs, Arpeggiators. Way to show'em how its done.

    ALL HAIL THE ANALOGUE SYNTH!!!!!!!!

  • why the fuck are you guys talking about dubstep and skirllex and all that crap

  • @BludySkinz Because this is one of dubstep's ancestor's . . .

  • So Fast

  • This tune was acid before acid. It follows the same principle of slowly manipulating a repetive patern for a hypnotic, dramatic effect

  • I don't understand why everyone hates Skrillex. If it's not your type of music, here is a genius freaking golden nugget of wisdom for you, DON'T LISTEN TO IT. Also, quit trying to be technical like a d-bag hipster and call it "brostep". If you REALLY want to get technical, let's start calling it what sonny actually labeled it as "electronica". I enjoy Skrillex amongst other artists who specialize in dubstep, and I have a very wide taste in music, so it doesn't really bother me that much.

  • You can trace modern dance music directly back to this. 38 years old. Your grandad probably bought this and it's still better than most of the shit on Radio1.

  • @pykkervots Couldn't agree more Pykker. Great comment man.

  • intergalactico...♥

  • Estoy re loco y no sabes como me hace flashar esto.

  • Just because it has electronics doesn't make it AT ALL close to dubstep. WTF. dubstep doesn't have instrumentals. der.

  • @hallorand9 "dubstep doesnt have instrumentals" ? is that an ironic statement because i can't believe you're being serious

  • @ancientraver19881989 What's an instrument used in dubstep?

  • @hallorand9 bass, drum, synth, keyboards, guitars(occasionally), symphonic instruments

  • @TheScarecrowField That's a crock of shit, lol. Dubstep , like SKRILLEX , is made by combining two songs(usually, not always, but something of that sort) and adding distortion, making that shitting noise, and just bass. The 'drums' you hear isn't real drums? Duh? expecially if its just a fake snare drum. bass, obviously..but not the instrument bass guitar. the guitar is completely fake, stolen from other tracks. That is so b.s lol

  • @hallorand9 instrumentals in this day and age CAN be a program on a computer. Sure, they may not be "REAL", but if you're into calling computerized instruments fake, and not realizing that they WERE recorded by an actual instrument at some point in time, then you're living in the wrong century. You might want to try the 1800's. Also, you're basing your entire argument off of Skrillex, not Klay-pex, Deadmau5, Bore-Gore, Daft-Punk, etc.

  • @TheScarecrowField Fair Enough, But the only nad that makes their own tunes is Daft Punk, the rest just steal it. I just think it's a very bad way for music to be heading, and thats all i was stating . Just heavy bass with an incline then it just pauses and then goes intense bass just to repeat that over again, I din't see talent in that. And i think i should be saying that more as a fact, than opinion.

  • @hallorand9 I can agree with you on that, experimental dubstep is a nice thing to have. It breaks up the monotony of regular dubstep. I, well heck, WE all still love mainstream dubstep, but it's like changing what you eat, if you eat anything for too long, your going to get bored of it and eventually resent it and hate it.

  • @TheScarecrowField A lot of instruments can actually be generated from mathematical formulas, and are in those cases much more dynamic than recorded instruments.

  • @Shwaggetyshfifty good point.

  • i can light the house with my head now nyahaha hohoho

  • Pink Floyd was one of the first bands to experiment with such eccentric recording techniques. They used it well, and brilliantly. Unfortunately, modern mockeries of this are a part of a shitty genre called dubstep - meant for stupid people to bob their heads to and say "omg so trippy lulz"

  • @iceseekers I don't think you're giving the modern electronic music enough credit. The stuff that Skrillex creates is shit. However that is only one type of dubstep, dupstep was supposed to be minimalistic and ambient, check out "Swarms-Ravedeath".

You're dismissing the countless other sub-genres in the Electronic genre like DnB, Acid House, Electronic House and Trance etc. Each genre has it's best parts and it's worst just like Rock, Nickleback is a shit band but it doesn't discredit the genre.

  • @MrNinjaSpartan I haven't heard many of the sub-genres of dubstep. But I do believe that the majority of people who listen to dubstep are fans of the Skrillex-type dubstep. If there was a name for this kind of dubstep, I would have said that, but to me it's all very much the same.

  • @iceseekers Skrillex isn't actually dubstep, he has dubstep elements in his music as well as House. There is kind of an internet joke were people refer to it as Bro-Step.

I wasn't just talking about dubstep but electronic music as a whole. There is the good stuff (Aphex Twin, Boards of Canada and Flying Lotus) and then the bad stuff (Skrillex, Brokencyde etc).

  • @MrNinjaSpartan you're obviously more of an expert in dubstep than me, but my point was that floyd's experiment with songs unfortunately influenced some of that brostep shit, and that if music like dubstep should be done, it should be done in this style, not that womwompwomp crap.

  • Getting high to this song was one of the best decisions i've ever made in my life

  • In the first 30 seconds, the organ passing through sounds like rats in a cellar piling on top of each other in a corner.

At 27 seconds into the piece, the female announcer says 'Have your baggage and passport ready and then follow the green line to customs and immigration''.

Pink Floyd at their very best!

  • "Psh, this'll never catch on ! It's not even real music !"

    [38 years later]

    Dubstep

  • this song makes me fly and travel

  • does anyone think that the sounds at the beginning sound like the tardis but faster?

  • WLS-AM's phone prize music! Anybody else remember that they used this?

  • @DaveWollenberg yes!!! every friggin' day on the bus coming to and going home from school......good album...good times!!!

  • @hevyonez97 Were you a WLS listener, too?

  • @DaveWollenberg yep, had no other choice when the school bus driver has it on going to and from school every day, and that's what all the kids were listening to besides black radio with my family and relatives!

  • Synchronize all four planes crashes from 9/11 with the crescendos in this song (WTC 1, WTC 2, Pentagon, Pennsylvania field) and you just re-upped the goosebumps level by ten.

  • Underrated ass song

  • This song scares the shit out of me when I'm high.

  • @GoodTimesBadTimes76 This song made my friend think he was having a heart attack, First time baked XD

  • @GoodTimesBadTimes76 It's those Flashing Lights coming from the UFO in the sky, and you wake up to find 1960s Space Men running after you. Beep Bop Bleep Bleep, Ahahahaaha-hahaahaha

  • @GoodTimesBadTimes76 fuck yeah! :D

  • @GoodTimesBadTimes76 When I listened to this song at a laser light show in a planetarium, I thought I was going to panic. The ceiling looked like I was flying through a void.

  • @GoodTimesBadTimes76 yeah me to builds intensity so high

  • I swear this is the most native form of dubstep

  • @rg110989 No, Dubstep is the bastardization of stuff like this.

  • This is the 9/11 attacks predicted. Each crescendo coincides with each plane crash.

  • @Skidnuts What are you even talking about.

  • @Skidnuts whatever your on seems to have a negative effect on you when your listening to pf

  • Do not ask me why, but 1:58 comes to my mind Jackie Stewart in his Tyrrell F1 in 1973 running on the track. LOL

  • The Dark side of the moon album will live forever because it is the journey of life and death and it is the most insightful recording ever made. From speak to me/Breathe (Life) to Eclipse (Death). Its a guide through life.
