I want someone to find the Southern Comfort liqueur cinema ad with the young white guy taking the black girl out for a date in New Orleans, with "Why Do Fools Fool In Love" by Frankie Lymon playing as they watch the paddle steamers going down the Mississippi. Along with the Kia-Ora ad, that WAS the very essence of going to the cinema in the late 80s and early 90s.
@kdreamland By the look of your comment you can remember a different version of this advert. So can I but it is nowhere to be found on youtube. I wish I could find it.
@MOONST0MP it's only very very slightly different. such as when he is being handed the orange glass, the kid does some weird stuff with his hand, which he doesn't do in the TV version
@kdreamland Nah, this was shown on TV too. But there was a second one after this one. on the second advert they sing it different. Rather than 'kia- ora, kia-ora !' it goes ' KEEEEEE-OARRRAAA, KEEEEEEEOARRRRAA, KEEEEEEOAAARRRRAAA!' gettin higher each time. And i remember two singin pineapples too. I wish i could find it, its really pissin me off now!!!
@kdreamland Oh, yes you are right, it is slightly different to the TV version. I never noticed that. I cant find that second one anywhere. Do you remember it??
@kdreamland I found the second advert I was thinkin of! If you type in 'TVARK' into google and click on the top 'Adverts' You can find it straight away. Its from 1987. Cant understand why it isnt on youtube. Everythin else is!
@MOONST0MP hehe i checked it out. you're right a totally different advert, its not on youtube! have you seen the third kiaora advert? Type Kiaora pear into youtube. it's the first advert that comes up
@kdreamland Ha! Yeah I saw that last week when I was lookin for the other one. They've used Prince Buster's- Judge Dread. I think this one, the first one is easy the best. out of the three Its a great reggae beat!!
Ah those were the days. Cinemas today have a full on snack bar, ice-cream parlour and sweetshop all built into them yet back in the day all they'd sell was kia-ora, butterkist popcorn and choc-ices.
i miss when ads like these played in cinemas in australia! this, and the commercial about the cinema.

@MOONST0MP yeah, and in the Tv version, the Sun doesn't pluck an eyelash, he wrings out his cloud into the drink, and many other small differences.

This is the original Kia-Ora cinema sales advert which was shown during the 1980's in U.K. cinemas.
