Is this the same logic behind "Pro Photographers don't use Photoshop" that we heard back in the 90's? Or "Pro Photographers don't use digital cameras" we heard in the early 2000's? HDR is an awesome tool. And just like any tool it can be used improperly. Like taking a torque wrench and beating you in the face.
@Lynda.com - What I want to know is why am I paying for your service and your giving away lessons? Yes, I know it's not Deke's entire course but it still doesn't make me happy.
The resulting HDR image looks unnatural. Am I the only person who wants natural-looking shots? Sometimes HDR isnt appropriate - it looks like the whole image is faked
Fucking ridiculous. Theres ten thousand ways to make a photograph look fucked up with photoshop. True HDR combines multiple exposures to create a clear, balanced, dynamic image.
i'm a photographer too, a french one, and i already knew this style of picture but not how to do it ... it was a great pleasure and a great moment for me ... Thx a lot
Yeah, I agree with most people below. It looks very unconvincing. Most of the light is coming from the side of the barn farthest away from the camera, and yet the poles' sides opposite of the light sources are lit up as if there's a soft flash or something. And the differences between one side of the wall behind the farthest pole and the other are totally different saturations. Pay more attention to the realism of the photo in your tutorials before posting.

@murralsee If you want natural pictures then take a normal photograph. HDR isn't meant for natural pictures. When taking an HDR picture, one should try to make it look as fantastic as possible and see what different effects they can come up with. There are no rules; just try to get a cool looking picture. That's the beauty of HDR.
@octotuts HDR is not just for the surreal. HDR has been going on for a long time. Many people bracket with large format film photography.
HDR is just that. A higher dynamic range than the sensor in the camera you are holding can capture in a single image.
In conclusion, a realistic hdr image, with much more tonal range vs a single is exposure, is more appealling to me than a surreallistic/artistic image. I would like to add that there is nothing wrong with surreal hdr either.
can i take just one picture and then make several copies of this picture to change the exposure of each picture in photoshop? would i get the same result? most of the time, people take just take pictures of a scene but not at different exposures. thanks!
@tvandang you would get a similar result, but not the exact crisp look. you would need a few more steps including remove ghosting, blending etc. try a burst mode of 3 images instead of 8 images. much much easier. =]

Too complex. You're talking too much and explained absolutely nothing. You are just displaying how smart you want everybody to know "you are".
