@Rakaboom5 So what?? or u are just another punk ass bitch racist wannabe hidden behind the computer , where nobody can see what race u are ??? Get a life .ha,ha triyng to act tough on youtube ..how pathetic is that !! damnnn
Our grandparents and great grandparents got FDR for 12 years, four terms. This president led our country out of the Great depression and led us toward victory in WW2. We get Fucking Obama. What the hell happened between 1950 and 1990?
Morale decay, lack of respect, failure to enforce values and discipline to the younger generations, and lack of unity among the entire population.
The US was united through all of their problems, hence why we managed to fight two World Wars. The stupid things that have happened between the 1950s and now are caused by division and the other things I've mentioned earlier.
what happen. what happen to presidents like these. where did they go. surely they did now all die.. i feel sorry for my generation, only 15 years old i fear because of these horrible presidents you the older generation the parent generation, are creating for us.. back then our grandparents were fighting as one. not ranting against the troops. not protesting funerals and it makes me cry just thinking about it. im ashamed of the parent generation. and i am ashamed of the older americans like them.
@werwr4 What happened to Presidents like these? Nothing, they are the same today as at any time. The difference is the media, and the 24 hour outlets, the blogs, everyone is a reporter with the constant need for news, gossip, scandal. If FDR were to have ruled in this time, the media would be relentless on his "inability" to lead due to his polio. The new deal would have been dead before it started with the constant DAILY questions of "are we better today than yesterday ect ect..
"Betrayal at Pearl Harbor, How Churchill lured Roosevelt into WWII", by James Rusbridger (of the Britsh SIS) & Eric Nave (of the Australian SIO) is another "page-turner" I can't put down. Very detailed, and you are the "fly_on_the_wall" watching and listening to it all. Just amazing, and will completely change your opinions of both FDR and Churchill.
Read: "Pearl Harbor: The Seeds and Fruits of Infamy", by Percy Greaves Jr, published by The Ludwig von Mises Institute in Auburn, Alabama, 2010, 937 pages. The book is a detailed indictment of the Roosevelt Administration, one that finally and devastatingly rips the lid off a case that has been shrouded in mystery for generations. Robert Stinnett, the author of “Day of Deceit”, calls Greaves's
I get chills when FDR lists the islands and countries attacked by the Japanese. The stage that is being set in this speech is so immense and profound that I don't know how people live their lives without experiencing the gravity of these moments in history.
I like how he pauses before saying "the Philippine Islands". And yeah, it does give me the chills too. I wish I could've been in that room when he made this speech.
America should have declared war in 1939 the same time as britain! The axis powers came too close to victory thank god hitler was leading the german armies his decision 1941-5 lead to germanys destruction IF HE HAS ONLY LISTENED TO HIS ADVISORS AND GENERALS HE COULD HAVE WON THE WAR!But he didnt trust any1 HITLER TURNED GERMANY INTO A GREAT NATION AGAIN AND DESTROYED IT IN 6YEARS OF WAR! R.I.P ALL THE PEOPLE WHO DIED DURING WW2 FOR 1 MANS GREED AND MENTALLITY
@martynrobin121 The United States was in no position to engage in war in 1939 if you read our history. We could barely keep Britain supplied with war planes and other war needs in 1940, let alone become involved. It took Japan to kick us off our asses and wake up. And they still kicked our butts for the first six months in the Pacific island fighting. It was pure luck we took their carriers in the battle of Midway and survived 1942 intact as a nation. Let alone what we had coming with Germany.
@Ghstwn Yes i agree, America had time and was getting vital information from Britain about modern warfare and the nazi tactics,(Whitch they copied) So Britain and the U.S could make better tanks, weapons, bombs, planes in the U.S. Also the American industry whitch created a hudge war machine, U.S was a Factory. And wasnt even in the same league as the Nazis in warfare. And the Japs humiliated both U.S and U.K at Singapore and Phillipines 100's of thousands of allies trooped just surrendered.
The President cannot declare war. Only the Congress can do that. This is what Roosevelt was doing there before the joint session of Congress. And the thing that makes it look so dire is the fact that he doesn't plead with them to declare war.. Rather, he asks for them to do it as a formality, since an open state of war obviously existed between the two nations as of the previous day.
@foreverhulkamania My dads uncle was a cook on the arizona , when it was attacked and when it was starting to sink he abandoned ship and swam to safety.
