I just looked with my son to movie'The Never Ending Story'. When Arthreyu reaches the Oracle, he meets an 'expert' on Oracle matters. "I know all about the Oracle", the expert says, it's my scientific subject". Athreyu: "Did you ever went there?" Of course not, I'm a scientist, I do not need to go there to know all about it. I think we have a lot of scientist reacting here. Your fully entitled to your opinion, but please experience first so your opinion is supported.
It's funny how people who know nothing about what these guys are doing have it all figured out, how it's fake, what can and cannot be used. What kind of arrogance does it take to arrive at such conclusions.
Right its a conditioned response based on the flow movements they learn in systema which due have a good purpose in learning to fall naturally and defend and such. This is another aspect that it can do psychologically as well. Ryabko and them know this, they dont teach magic or say they do.
what is going on here isn't anything mystical. He is demonstrating the concept of intent. Basically, he is standing there and a few guys are attempting to grab him. At the moment they have committed to doing so, he moves. This way, they cannot reverse what they have started because they have committed to it. So they don't collide and injure themselves, they roll out. Mkhail and Vlad are very amazing at this. Nothing supernatural here, just high level application of principles
They are moving very slowly - there is no danger of injury, they are not commited - both of them are in ballance - the guy on the left just falls sideways heavily, while the guy on the right kinda sits down - both do it without REASON, with no physical CAUSE.
Silly behavior.
As puppy-eyed students they know they are expected to fall, so they do - even when it's completely un-called for.
It is an exercise of timing. You have to keep in mind you aren't watching an actual fight. You are watching a demonstration of a principle. They are moving slowly to grab him because they were probably told to do so. What is being shown here's Mikhail's timing of his opponents attack. If I were to slowly try to grab you and right at the point of me just about to grab, you moved with perfect timing, I would be imbalanced. This isnt a great esoteric secret. Doing it like Mikhail is another story.
You keep denying there is something mystical here - but all I am really saying is that Ryabko and his students are faking, exaggerating and acting-out ofcourse.
An exercise of timing? in slow motion? hmm... not intent, huh? ridiculous.
More to the point - they fall even though they are not over-commited, moving slowly AND are in ballance.
they are all different exercises. I cannot explain them all as I what MIkhail does is at a VERY HIGH LEVEL. I don't have explanations for everything that he does. If you want concrete explanations with concrete examples and be allowed to feel the technique and it's application, meet them. You won't find all the answers from me or youtube for that matter. My offer for paying for you to meet either Vlad or Mikhail and filming it still stands btw.
Your right about that it is nothing magical. What is going on with the psychology aspects is similar to repport building and suggestion that is similar in hypnosis. The movement drills in systema come and flow naturally to which the subconscious acts in relation to the actions that it has ingrained in those previous motions. If a subject is willing, well subconsiously the dominate person can lead them.
so here is my plan. I'm going to pay for you to attend the next systema seminar in Israel or wherever. You get to feel everything you have been making fun of all over youtube in regards to Vasiliev and Ryabko. I will take the film of it and put it on youtube. What do you say?
For those who don't understand (wich is completely understandable) Ryabko ís showing in slowmotion the psychological reflexes most people have during a fight. Especialy when a reaction is coming during our own executed action. In a real quick fight this is almost invisible to the eye but it does happen. So Ryabko is not showing you how the fight, but rather showing you how we might react when we tense up by fear. In Ninpo they also know this, like the 'Kuki-Nage' (or windthrow) for example.
A lot of people jump in to defend every stupid thing Ryabko does (and he performs MANY silly things).
What "psychological reflex" is simulated in this clip? I see two demonstrations of flinching. but besides that the ukes are simply falling all by themselves with no REASON. even a simulated reason.
These are NOT reactions that are likely to happen when one is tense.
These reactions happen when one is WAY too suggestible.
Indeed, too many people are believing anything that they WANT to believe. I am not one of them. You're right when you said that many people rather let themselves fall (act) then resist (natural)! But your last line "These reactions happen when one is WAY too suggestible" explains its selve cause that is EXACTLY what's happening! Some are psychologicly easy to manipulate during their actions. TIP: Sgt. Rory Miller's book "Meditations on Violance" explains a lot about this subject. Great book!
To be honest, I haven't seen the complete video. I would not call it psychic warfare either but I would never go that far calling Ryabko a faud. After 30 years in martial arts I have worked with him once and alldough I am THE OPPOSITE of the "easy groudfallers" he showed me some in person and I was not able to get up no matter hard I tried! Besides, nobody would ever call his best student Vladimir Vasiliev a fraud after fighting once with this guy. That says something about his lessons I quess.
The main problem with RonnySayfan is that he is digging to find answers in a video clip. I've looked on his site and he does have a valid argument that there is a lot of Bullshit out there. However, this is not it. I notice you trained Bagua, and Tai-chi, etc. If someone were to watch a few minutes of these arts at their high level, they may not believe what is going on either. The point is, you will never understand how any of this works and why guys fall the way they fall unless you try it.
so based on what your telling me, I can watch the martial arts that you teach in a 1:15 second video clip and know what is going on? Give me a break. Ryabko holds a pretty high political position in Russia. Vladamir is all over the place doing seminars and teaching. You owe to yourself to find out how much you really know by trying to attack these guys with what you know.
BTW, I read your profile. I few years of bagua, a few years of tai chi. You dont have that much experience in internal arts. Your back ground is more on hard, rough, aggressive styles which is totally fine. Being trained in Kinesiology is great but you still have no experience with Systema. To truly see what you think you see or what you don't think you see, you honestly have to try it. I'm done arguing about it as you won't be convinced on youtube. cheers dude
its utilizes ki and extraordinary ways. To my suprise, Systema uses it too. To people who aren't trained in these arts, it looks ridiculous, even to me even though I DO train in this ki using arts. However, I gotta say: its real.

Now how about an answer to my question?
0:10 - 0:14 - what on earth are they doing?
Why do they fall down oh-so-unrealistically?

Another "timing" exercise?
Can that ever happen?

@RonnySayfan he is the founder of systema
and says at the beggining of the dvd that there is nothing special or magical about what he does
its all about mechanincs and psychology

Bigturns33 1 year ago
@Bigturns33 yea man im almost done with my psychology class shit in it blows my fuckn mind everyday
but the psychological part according to Mikhail is comparing it to someone trying to avoid obsticales in their path
it works like u said, like hypnosis they want to believe so it happens
but u can apply some of this in real life to a certain point so its not completely useless
mrfrosty8172 1 year ago
@RonnySayfan
You are 100% Correct.
I trained with Vladimir in Toronto. Only top students are permitted to have these no touch techniques work on them.
I begged for him to do one on me...a no touch knife defense...it did not work at all and I poked Vlad in the belly with the rubber knife.
He got pissed, made me do it again, but this time he elbowed me in the brachial nerve.
The knife came out all right...I could barely hold a pencil for about a week.
Do what the instructor expects or you suffer
dmosier 2 years ago
A common tactic in cult-like enviorments.
I expect you've met frowns or ridicule from "deveoted" students for "daring" to try Vlad for real (and get him).
RonnySayfan 2 years ago
@RonnySayfan
lets just say I did not renew my membership
BTW
The real techniques are quite good, and I have kept using some of what I learned.
The elbow to the brachial nerve works real well, I know first hand!
But the no touch stuff, yea, it is pure bull.
dmosier 2 years ago
@dmosier yeah it's a part of that New age movement crap.
creationofself 1 year ago
@dmosier man mikhail always talks about being nice to people in the DVDs and that the underlying message of systema is to respect each other
but then i heard that Vladimir has different views and/or training methods,
i guess its true
i think the no-touch can help a little in a fight,
give a false sense of support and subtley take it away.

IMO my expirience with the internal arts has put me in an excellent position to judge what is authentic and what is not.
I have an exceptionally acute sensetivity to kinetic-linking and structure, and these are always visible to the kinesiologically trained eye.
0:10 -0:14 - what exactly does these two guys simulate?
Is this what would happen if they were moving faster?
And I liked the whisper Ryabko gave the guy at the end of the clip, telling him it's ok to wake-up..
