No. You lived under a tyranny that violated every fucking human right made possible.
I love the market economy -- higher risks and more opportunities for the lucky. I love watching poor people on the streets, eating from garbage cans. The valedictorian from high school have to work 3 jobs in order to stay above the poverty line.
If you want to live in the middle class, then move to Socialist Norway. But who the fuck wants to live in a society where everyone is treated equally, right?
@diapasonify: interesting to see how a socialist defends his ideology. Since 1944, Hayek in Road to Serfodom, showed that a state where the means of production are govt property and under the diktats of a centralized govt authority would spiral down into death and misery. Look at N Korea, Cuba, Zimbabwe or venezuela.
The problem with the poor in the US is that they get too much help from the government and they become irresponsible.
Interesting how an American seems to be born and bred as a capitalist and brainwashed into thinking that socialism = satan since they were fetuses.
Human rights violations = North Korea, Cuba, and America. Do I need to remind you of the Trail of Tears? Or do human rights violations only happen in communist countries?
I'm irresponsible and I have a six figure salary. You don't have to work hard to go up the food in chain in America.
Go back to sucking your corporate overload's dick. I can't believe I have to be the one to explain to you how fucking corrupt market fundamentalism is to a Main Street idiot like you.
well, if you really believe that some people can work 3 jobs and still not have "enough" money, it means that their work is not efficient enough and we need more capital. How do you explain then all the restrictions and taxes on capital formation and on the most productive citizens who create millions of jobs for others?
Nothing exciting about EU. And Norway is the Saudi Arabia of europe and it will fail. I just hope that you will live enough to see the failures of your ideas.
I live enough to see my ideas flourish in Norway where the biggest oil company (Statoil) and bank (DnB NOR) is owned partially by the government. Here in America, Goldman Sachs owns YOU.
Some people actually do have to work 3 jobs and still don't have enough money to meet their needs - it has nothing to do with whether their work is "not efficient enough".
Dan kicks this guy's ass every time they debate, I love CATO, they have the answers that work for the American way of life, socialistic minded Europeans, like Christian, don't seem to get our ways.
The very profitable industry is the state which allows individauls to pass costs to other individauls. Yet it's no industry as it does not produce anything
No kidding. Did Christian ever stop to think that if the uninsured had enough money to hire lobbyists, they just might use the money to buy insurance? But as for seniors, there is the AARP, which I believe supports Obamacare. The question is, does it really represent the views of its members? Somehow I doubt it.
Weller is a useful idiot. We know what he is going to say before he opens his mouth. I'd just like to hear Dan paired with a different commie, just to break up the monotony.
Christian, why do you think health care is so profitable. Could it have anything to do with the fact that you pointed out early in the discussion, namely that it is so heavily monopolized? And where do you think monopoly privileges come from?
I've heard it said that the health insurance industry's "protests" against Obamacare are nothing but crocodile tears, and I think that has to be true. Who is in the best position to benefit if 30 million more people are forced to buy health insurance? So, yeah, this would be a classic case of rent seeking, wouldn't it.
Exactly the state is a market ontop of a market that subverts the function of the primary market. The State villainizes the rich while the rich engage in bidding contests to control public assets and shield themselves from market competition. The poor, who have no conception of this dynamic, are all to eager to serve teh interest of the rich by aiding the consolidation of primary market channels. History will look back on this as a tremendous cosmic joke.
Is Weller this stupid or is he just a typical lying sack of shit progressive?

Center for American Progress = a bunch of socialists.
Dan has it right that lobbying is profitable because the government is too big (and we are stupid to believe the govt is there to help).
Best government is the smallest govt possible i.e. army, police, justice.

dude, if you talk about health care - that's why insurance exists - to help you out when you have some high unexpected procedure.
As for other things - there is never enough. Wants are unlimited. That's econ 101.
