@TheBrookeization almost none of this movie actually happen...the only facts they used in this movie were: Mary was Henry's mistress, Henry married Anne (but in reality he loved her SO much more than this movie let us know), Anne gives birth to Elizabeth and Anne is being beheaded. The rest of this movie didn't happen (or did happen but not like it's been showed in this movie) :)
compared to the book this movie really sucks. loved natalie and scarlett, didn´t like how much they changed about the whole story though. the movie has NOTHING to do with the book which was so brilliant and which also was the reason why I wanted to watch it in the first place. sometimes the dialogues even reminded me of some bad sope opera which made the whole movie rather boring and made it impossible for me to emphasize with the characters.
@jessicalilac Indeed the real Henry was verry fat. I wondering how he get of 6 wifes.... (I only think cause he was a king, notting else, or he must be verry charming)
@cartergirl3of3 OMG, so did I! My little sister was in the room, and I was crying my eyes out. And she was like, "What's your problem?" And I told her George was beheaded, and she just laughed at me. Lol
omg i hate the other boleyn girl...if you want to know the truth watch 'the tudors' its much more accurate. In this movie they portray anne as a backstabbing bitch, which she isnt, she was very intelligent and nice. phillipa gregory=fail
god i love the tudor rule, so fucked up. i mean, henry VIII invented the condom, destroyed political ties, tore up his country, and randomly created the CofE just so he could get with a anne. nice goin there padre. sooo, wats ur sickly son eddy gunna do when ur fat leg sores kill u? male heir, psh! liz can handle all the bitchy cousins u through at her. especially if their named mary.
I'm really tired of everyone making Henry VIII look so hot. Seriously, Eric Bana, Henry Caville... He was better looking in his youth yes, but not like that.
@rainysky09 It wasn't Henry Caville it was Jonathan Rhys Meyers in 'The Tudors'. Also how do you know if he looked better in his youth? He requested that paintings were improved to make him look better same as his daughter Elizabeth I did during her reign...However I do agree they try to make him out to be appealing but he was a very naughty boy indeed
@BARRINGTON2000 Huh, really? I never saw the Tudors, a friend told me Henry was played by Henry Caville. Whatever... I'm just saying, he wasn't AS bad looking when he was younger, he may still have been not good looking.
@pubeafro i was so excited when i found out they were doing a film adaption, but i agree it was not good. plus i felt like it ended up focusing too much on anne and forgot the story was supposed to be about the OTHER bolyen girl...
This wasn't bad but I found it quite repetitive and boring like some scenes were just a mere repeat of others. It lacked any kind of political intruigue or interest for me and I preferred the book.
Is Natalie's character the bad one? I saw the ending only. (Stupid I know.) But watching this trailer... Why does Natalie die at the end when Scarlett was the one who "betrayed" her? Damn it. I must watch this *_*
@hakuxlove people elude to the fact that she failed to provide him a male heir. She was accused and convicted of adultery and incest. The King was tiring of her and wanted a new wife and the only way out of his marriage with Anne was death (for Anne).
@hakuxlove neither of them are truly "bad" although natalie's is the one who ends up being the one doing most of the decieving. Natalie had wanted the king but the king met Scarlett and prefered her. Scarletts family forced her to be with him but she ended up falling for him as well. So Natalie got mad and stole him from her. Then she couldn't bear him and heir and was going to sleep with her brother to get pregnant but then didnt but the king found out and thought she had so she was killed
@hakuxlove If you want to know more its probably better if you read the book its a lot more explanatory and you will get more out of it. :) but the film isn't bad so try both if you want.
ido not think that Natalie Portman is perfect nobody is perfect she acts very well because she has a lot of experience remember that she has been acting since she was a child, and besides becuase she has a lot of talent
@Lollipopmoss It would be weird if it were right. The word goes back to at least the time of Henry VIII and in some forms and spelling from hundreds of years before.
@settings99 If you're talking about what starts at 1:22 and goes on to the end I think it may be the instrumental of the song "Diem ex dei" by Globus.
I like Natalie playing Anne. She's amazing! I prefer her to the other girl in The Tudors, actually. Natalie has a more, I DON'T KNOW. Anne Boleyn look. The book is awesome!
i think this movie is underrated. for me, it's Oscar-worthy especially the acting. Portman, Johansson, and of course Bana really did a great job. the movie captured me from beginning to the end..
I watched this movie for the very first time last night!

Amazing movie!
For those who haven't seen it, get up and watch it! :)
as the women are nothing more than just objects who had to deliver some goods, no a daughter but as a son, and all these stereotypes, i puke on...
the one with black hair, don't remember her name, was maybe worth while, 'cause of her words and humor, which stated the truth about these clowns in suits...
What did you expect? A positive portrayal of gender equality in the tudor era?
Women who cheated could be executed and beatings were seen as righteous for disobedience. They were also seen as instruments of the devil, luring men from God and salvation.
Of course, the accuracy of these historic stereotypes and beliefs should be questioned but it presents a rough idea.
this movie is what started my obsession with Anne Boleyn, my friend who went with me to see the movie then bought me the book, and I loved it! Then as a dug deeper into the history and the truth of Anne Boleyn (falling more obsessed) I decided to watch the movie again, I was so upset, so I re-read the book, the book is about as far from truth as the movie is to the book, good fiction, but don't read or watch this movie for more than good entertainment!
I didn't care for the movie too much. The movie left out alot of key points from the book. & + the book is in Mary's point of view and the movie is mostly in Anne's point of view.
No, Anne was killed by the best swordsman in the kingdom, because of Henry's compassion for her. Also Mary Stafford, had two children by the king, and she never asked for Henry to save her sister. Also, at her excecution Anee never said anything. This movie, has little to do with the book. Read the book and watch the movie, and you'll see major differences.
Anne did give a farewell speech. Look it up online. It is very similar to the movie speech. She begs for the Kings forgiveness perhaps to save her daughter.
the book is called the other boleyn girl, and anne was executed with a sword because she was royal. in fact, henry brought a swordsman from the english port of calais to do the job. catherine howard was married to henry when he was older and more cruel. he showed more kindness to anne by letting her die by the sword, not the axe.
The axe was not as clean cut as the sword. In some cases it took many hits to the head to decapitate it with the axe. The sword was quicker and it went swiftly. Henry just showed a little bit of kindness by using the sword for Anne.
Henry had the choice of burning her or giving her the axe. She asked for a french swordsman since she was more french than english. Read "the life & death of Anne Boleyn"
Do you think it is odd that of all the wives including other prisoners/traitors who were executed at the Tower, only Anne Boleyn was executed with a sword....Was she some sort of Medusa or something...a powerful titan to behold?
i luvluv the book and the movie cause although the movie left out heaps it was a great performance by Eric Bana (he kinda hot) Scarlett Joanesson and Natalie Portman Natalie was a wonderful choice for Anne because she shows so much strength but at the same time can be weak and Scarlett another wonderful performance by her i was quite wowed and they both worked wonderful together made u think that they were really sisters and Eric Bana he does an amaz job!!
I think Natalie's performance is better. Because Scarlett always have this face of -how to say- weak, beautiful and adorable girl. Natalie has a better part, because Anne Boleyn is a very interesting character. But she can play so many sort of characters... It's incredible!
OMG! The book was amazing! The movie, not so much. Brilliant acting, though. I know movies have to shorten the book, but they left out SO much. My friend, husband and I were disappointed. But, best to see it for yourself.
It's right ! I read the book and Anne is a demon with Marie. I bought the DVD =D The movie is very interresting but i prefer the book. There are mor details on politic and the family ^^
That's right! I wish I could see the movie, but my mom and grandma saw it and they say I can't see it ( because of the "stuff" in it. )I can't belive that Anne took rights for her son. That would kill me.
I agree ! But Marie is so generous than her family manipulates she. I almost have finished the book and i love it ! One should read the book, it's better than the movie ! Even if it respects the story of author...
ps: sorry i'm french, so i don't speak french very well
I saw the movie, and it's the first time I saw Jim Sturgess. He's really cute especially as George Boleyn! lol. I think he has an upcoming movie called 21
One of the reasons Anne was executed was because people thought she had sex (had a child) with her brother - but a lot of historians disagree with that.
i don't care what other people say but i love natalie (coz i loved her in star wars so much) and i will support any role she plays.. ok, maybe i didn't like her so much in closer... it totally destroyed my padme amidala image of her.. but she isn't bad in this movie..
Natalie and Scarlett were brilliant in this!!!

i luvluv the book and the movie cause although the movie left out heaps it was a great performance by Eric Bana (he kinda hot) Scarlett Joanesson and Natalie Portman Natalie was a wonderful choice for Anne because she shows so much strength but at the same time can be weak and Scarlett another wonderful performance by her i was quite wowed and they both worked wonderful together made u think that they were really sisters and Eric Bana he does an amaz job!!
this should win an oscar!!!!

They missed some crucial parts of the book, but other than that I loved it.

if you read the book, you see Anne being more evil than in the book!
Aquamermaid11 3 years ago
It's right ! I read the book and Anne is a demon with Marie. I bought the DVD =D The movie is very interresting but i prefer the book. There are mor details on politic and the family ^^
canella45 3 years ago
That's right! I wish I could see the movie, but my mom and grandma saw it and they say I can't see it ( because of the "stuff" in it. )I can't belive that Anne took rights for her son. That would kill me.
Aquamermaid11 3 years ago
I agree ! But Marie is so generous than her family manipulates she. I almost have finished the book and i love it ! One should read the book, it's better than the movie ! Even if it respects the story of author...
ps: sorry i'm french, so i don't speak french very well

and Jim?? I just saw this trailer because he supossed to be there!!.. who character he play? :O
mayita9189 3 years ago
George Boleyn :)
One of the reasons Anne was executed was because people thought she had sex (had a child) with her brother - but a lot of historians disagree with that.
phantomwaltz 3 years ago
He plays George Boleyn, and he shows up on this trailer, even if very briefly - check out 1.38 and 1.39, he's the man in the white shirt!
