If you listened to what they said you'd know. They sent ships just like this one away a LONG LONG time earlier that were programmed to built and "plant" stargates in diffrent galaxies.

Which is why this would be referred to as "character building", giving you an idea of who they are, what their backgrounds are, how they are operate, and whether team work is going to be easy or difficult.

Please put aside the whole "SG1 & SGA shouldnt of been scrapped for this piece of shit", and actually look at it from a different perspective.

Well of course it is a drama! Think about it for a minute. What does SG-1 and Atlantis have that this does'nt? An enemy race trying to destroy us all. Without an external enemy, they have no choice but to focus on internal affairs. And with a ship that is constantly on the move going to galaxy to galaxy - there is no room for a constant external enemy.

Rush will be back! They left him with a very convenient plot device at the end of the episode. Somehow I seem to think he'll get the alien ship they found up and running and rendezvous with Destiny. Somehow I think that alien shuttle has a hyper drive and not just an FTL drive (Faster Than Lite)
