  • this one is alot better

  • You know this was Curt's favorite band, right? And he covered them?

  • where can i download this?

  • i really like both these bands.

  • Kurt loved The Meat Puppets. I think this tribute was good for them.

  • Comment removed

  • sorry , but this is just lazy and sloppy and uninspired. Not a trace of emotion in the vocals, waste of fucking time.I don't care how many of you Olympia masonic bisexual art snots insist this is great, you can go pound sand.

  • @ehbseedy I really hate to sound like an "Olympia, masonic, bisexual art snot" but if you dont like this than youre a faggot with no taste. Sorry, Its a fact. Look it up.

  • @FuttBucker667 ok, its not that bad, I just listened to it again, but what irritated me is the way they copied that horrible mistreatment which Patti Smith gave to the vocals. She changed the whole tune of the vocals during the verses, and for some reason The Meat Puppets copied her the same way. I just think it sounds sloppy and wrong.

  • anybody who thinks this sounds out of tune with unclean vocals, well it is.. because it's called PUNK ROCK. and now you've heard the true fucking meaning of it

  • Not terrible... not great either.

I'm hearing this album for the first time and it seems like half of the songs are women with keyboards n shit a few of them are guys actually using distortion... and then this one here in the middle.

  • The Melvins cover is better than this

  • For those who wish nirvana played this on his unplugged show....Meat Puppet granted your wish. Just appreciate instead of disliking this track. Btw meat puppet have influence on various rock band including Nirvana!

  • This sucks.

  • @sluttari so do you fucker

  • It's okay.It ain't played in Nirvana's style.The voice is just...it ain't suited for the song,and the guitarist rushed a bit at the begining.

  • Kurt would have loved this cover from one of his favourite bands...

  • its definatly meat puppets style, in some of nirvanas song you can difinatly hear teh infulence. great song!

  • Nirvana better than the meat puppets? nah.

  • kurt would definitaly like this better than his verision. not saying i met the dude but he hated his version and loved the meat puppets

  • @TheThirdShadow67 and he wish his sounds as desperate

  • kurt would have liked this. he loved the meat puppets

  • I really like this, but for people who don't, put it this way, it's better than Miley Cyrus.. :)

  • The Album cover is called Newermind!! Nirvana's album is Nevermind. Those are different albums, for Christ's sake! And it's different, but I like the cover.

  • this is amazing

  • @jonassorensen93 fucking right it is. i listen to it way more then the original

  • Anyone guy who hates this and claims to be a Nirvana fans isn't a real fan, the Meat Puppets were one of Kurt's favorite bands ever! These are the guys who played with them during Unplugged! I don't want to claim what Kurt would or wouldn't think but I'd guess he'd feel this is better than the original. I wouldn't, but Kurt probably would.

  • lol look at the title: NEWERMIND Its Nevermind :D and thats a really bad cover!!!

  • @maure1996 The album this is from is called 'Newermind'...

  • @Nirvaaanaa Nope It's called 'Nevermind'

  • @maure1996 haha no it's not. Nirvanas album is called 'Nevermind' but this is from.. omg just read the fucking discription!

  • @maure1996 The tribute is called "Newermind". See, it's because you get NEW versions of the songs from "Nevermind". So you get "Newermind". Do you understand? Do you have some brains left?

  • This album is called newermind

  • @maure1996

hahaha dude this is a nirvana tribute album :P

  • @maure1996 you're stupid. It's a cover album done by other artists as a tribute to kurt kobain/nirvana. Yes we are aware it's called NEWERMIND.

  • hey, mouth running nirvana fans, tell us what makes nirvana better than meat puppets.

  • @ikheugbizi oh comon, we all know the answer to that, hear Nirvana songs...not SLTP or Come As You Are, listen to them all

  • This is a really cool cover.

  • @joaoa13portugal those songs were not modified. There were done verbatim as per usual when Nirvana covered a song. Note for note and word for word. No modification done at all. Kurt was just a better Singer is the only difference.

  • This cover is amazing. You gotta love that sarcastic bass sound. And the electric guitar in the background fills the song out perfectly.

  • Better than miley cyrus

  • i dont give a fuck what anybody says i fuckin love this tribute and i love how his voice sounds its fuckin amazing...

  • i actually never like Meat Puppets that much, and Plateau, Oh me and Lake of Fire actually sounded better after being modified by Nirvana, but Nirvana were great fans of the Meat Puppets brothers, therefore i will respect that as a HUGE Nirvana fan

i liked this tribute cover :)

  • Kurt would love all these covers.

  • Its cool that Meat Puppets a band that inspired Nirvana is covering them as a tribute but sorry my ears are bleeding I can't make it through this...

  • Honestly, I love this because of how much it sucks! I'm not looking for anything amazing for a Nirvana tribute 'cause that would take away from what was so great about them. It was the fact that they revolutionized a style and wrote great tunes, it had nothing to do with talent or being very tight for that matter... They left that to classic rock

  • If you fucking love Nirvana, then you should check out Low Fat Getting High's cover of "Smells Like Teen Spirit." It irreverently pays homage to the band that taught us all not to give a shit.

  • Why so many dislikes?

    MEAT PUPPETS <3

  • Finally somebody that's actually worthy to cover this song!

  • fucking love it.

  • i feel high listening to Kurt Kirkwood sing

  • always been and always be until the end

  • this is pretty good

  • Nirvana covering meat puppets

    !!

  • catfeces: Oh, and Nirvana covered one of Meat Puppet's songs, 'Oh, Me."

  • @robynhood1971 and Lake Of Fire, AND Plateau.

  • catfeces: Meat Puppets were Kurt's No. 1 influence. He grew up listening to them.

  • Thanks for watching guys! It's a shame that Miley Cyrus gets 2 million views with her SLTS cover and legends like the Meat Puppets (!) can't make it over 20 k...

  • @Nirvaaanaa hey man, nevermind..

  • @Nirvaaanaa this is actually the vaselines -.-

  • @NiRvAnAmAnIa158 no its not.

  • @NiRvAnAmAnIa158 The Vaselines did Lithium on this album, dude.

  • @Nirvaaanaa Don't hate on other peoples success, it is not a shame at all, its awesome that she can get that may people to watch. yeah I may not like Miley Cyrus's music but I respect the hell out of her. She is a success, she has a butt load of fans and it is not because she sucks despite my tastes. People do like her and I respect her for that.

  • @Tapey01 Well and I don't have any respect for her because I just don't see in this girl a serious musician. She is just a marionete of music industry, a product like bread or milk, there for making cash, nothing more. Maybe she's gonna realize that when she grows up. Get me?

  • @Nirvaaanaa . "She is just a marionete of music industry, a product like bread or milk, there for making cash, nothing more" I like that. I hope you don't mind if i quote that when talking about xfactor contestants and other allsorted, manufactured pop shit

  • @Nirvaaanaa fuck miley cyrus and her jerk off pops the meat puppets have always been the real deal the kirkwoods paid lovely homage to nirvana

  • @Nirvaaanaa ppft who cares about numbers ?! quality over quantity !!! >:p

  • Awesome but kinda sounds like a downie a bit.

  • brilliant! Meat Puppets are the best!

  • who cares! almost all of nirvanas unplugged stuff is meat puppet songs! this is fucking great...meat puppets influenced nirvana alot and im sure kurt krist and dave would luv this! SOO U ALL CAN SUCK A BIG ONE!!!

  • blahblahblahNirvanablahblahblahMeat Puppetsblablahblah. Endless opinion and comparison. STFU. Please.

  • of course nirvana is better u fucking assholes, this is a tribute. respect their act

  • @BaldaiaNuno full of shit dude, nirvanna sux compared to the meatpuppets!

  • Kurt and the meat puppets brother were good friends

  • what the fuck is this? they change all the sound!

  • OMFG. I hate this cover! Nirvana is soo much better!

  • Nirvana is better

  • man, i guess very little people actually "get" kurt. he would have loved this cover and the lithium cover the most from this. those were two of his favorite bands, had the pixies been on it, he woulda shit bricks. and besides, by the end of his career he hated this song, and refused to play it at his last few concerts, so he probably wouldnt care who covered it or how they covered it.

  • ahhh i love this haha

  • meat puppets done this in their own style kurt would've dug this alot

  • Kurt Cobain would of loved this, its intentionally like this. Its Meat Puppets twist. People should do a bit of research before they slate it. They wouldn't of done it identical to Nirvana because that's gay!

  • hey, they let Nirvana do three of their songs on the MTV unplugged, so it's only right that they get to do one of Nirvana's. By the way, The Puppets are playing at Cats Cradle in Chapel Hill, NC Sep 22. I cant wait

  • @robwayne1000 have fun man the meat puppets can fucking jam their asses off very essentric my man

  • This is a joke right? Or purposefully disrespecting Nirvana?

  • @JaveDMode your new to nirvana right ? meat puppets is one of kurts favorite bands and they coverd 3 of their songs at unplugged, they have basically made it meat puppier, so what you mean to say is that you like nirvana but not meat puppets, listen to them and you will find that this is there sound

  • @SaintsSWE Yes, I am quite new to Nirvana. I only started listening to them in 1992.

  • @SaintsSWE Yes, I am quite new to Nirvana. I only started listening to them in 1992. But you are right. I like Nirvana and I think the is the first time I heard the Meat Puppets. The first time, and if this is what they always sound like, then it is also the last time.

  • @JaveDMode haha ok sorry, well then you have been listening to them longer then my life since i was born in 93 .. yeah there musik is quite different from nirvana, lake of fire is a meat puppets song but nirvana made it more nirvana like.

  • The cover if fine , except the verse vocals that suck big time

  • But it´s better than miley cyrus!!!!

  • I think Kurt wouldnt be happy about that try. Poor one. other covers on album are sometimes really good.

  • must include this song in unplugged in n.y.

  • they autotuned the shit out of this. Fail in my book.

  • @DomestikMC no its not auto tuned:P thats just curts voice (curt kirkwood)

  • @AwesomeSauceLimited no i'm dead serious they even admitted it

  • @DomestikMC oh...oh...oh fuck **facepalm** my eyes are actually watering, that is so depressing :'/

  • @DomestikMC link me the interview

  • worst one on the album

  • Kurt would have got a kick out it. lol

  • ew ya nirvana 100% better... this cover is just blasphemy lol

  • Comment removed

  • y wud u listen 2 this crap???? nirvanas so much better

  • @MrNatrocks ah shutup man, nirvana wouldnt have been the same entity without this fucking band as a core, this cover is interesting, but you're obviously a close minded fuck.

  • @AwesomeSauceLimited as a core influence**

  • meat puppet suck now, compared to what they used to be... theres no spirit, no energy, no core, no integritty

  • Better than Nirvana's. Then again the puppets were always a better band.

  • best 5 minutes on youtube you can have.

  • ive started to like this one more

  • this is fucking good.

  • El pero cover de esta cancion que e ecuchado!!

  • damn his voice is terrible...

does he have a cold or something??

  • this is fucking amazing!!!

  • Reminds me off the pixies and that's not a bad thing.

  • and that is why they didn't play this song unplugged...

  • I like the Meat Puppets, but I don't think this is very good

  • in the chorus it sounds like theyre copying nirvanas TOTP appearance, where Kurt was singing like morrissey

  • Well, I think it's a cool version. Kinda reminds me of Weird Al's cover, but not as overtly making fun of the song, obviously. Sounds like they just kinda relaxed with it and didn't try to take the song too seriously, which is cool, because Cobain really didn't take the song very seriously after it got huge, either. Extra points for the "mew-latto" pronunciation of "mulatto", too.

  • i'm impressed you stupid people get mad by a comment of a mexican person... hahahahahahaha pathetic like this band all of you are pathetic!!!! hahahaha

  • I love the Meat Puppets and I love this cover! <3

  • This is how you cover a song! You can still have the same words, meter and notes while the song as a whole is completely different, love it.

  • I don't understand why this has so many dislikes. Do people not realize how instrumental Meat Puppets were in developing the grunge sound and hence how appropriate this cover is?

  • finally someone got it right

  • DuDEs This is RAD as HELL :D

  • its from a tribute album, people, relax.

  • amazing cover!!

  • Rather than being childish jaglegs daring in their foul arrogance to try to put their own spin on it, it is a straight-forward semi-acoustic cover, which would have been perfectly at home at the '93 Unplugged show where they played together. Ladies and gentlemen, the Brothers Meat! Long may you reign as the Great Uncles of Rock!

  • Decent cover.

  • meat puppets covering nirvana?

ah how the tables have turned...

  • @catfeces You do realize Cris and Curt Kirkwood played on Nirvana: Unplugged in NY, right? I don't quite see this as "tables turning."

  • @theefincham well thats your opinion, son.

  • @catfeces I just think its pretty silly to act like Meat Puppets are taking a step back by recording a tribute to a guy they played with on one of the best live albums of all time.

  • @theefincham i'm not saying they took a step back. the unplugged versions, while not as good as the originals, were a good tribute to an awesome band. and this song while not as good as the original is a good tribute to an awesome band. i think what i'm trying to say by the tables turning is that the relationship between the two bands has become a full circle.

  • @catfeces now the hand is on the other foot!

  • @catfeces Lmfao, i love you, and your username

  • @catfeces how all those tablets have turned on all of us

  • oh man they really shouldn't have... in fact, no one should.

  • The solo sounds wicked.

  • this cover is boring and too close to the original, i would have liked to hear a version much slower, lower voice etc.

  • Everythings good cept his voice, he keeps cracking

  • @poopey3000 Well he is 52, and the brothers meat have been around since 1980. Plus their live electric stuff is pretty intense. So im not really suprised.

  • Is this the Meat puppets or MUPPETS

  • nice cover

  • I like it. Definitely not as good as the original (but what is?); it's still pretty good.

  • i love the meat puppets but ehhh...no one can do it like Kurt....just Kurt :)

  • @cobsitosos who got his point?

  • @Nirvaaanaa nobody , he doesnt have one.its called trolling.

  • @cobsitosos What?

  • @cobsitosos congratulations, you are a tasteless faggot D:

  • @ancientpatrician why, cause i dislike something that you like? well i think that's the fucking problem with the shitty people like you, i just dislike this shitty band and this shitty cover and it's my problem ok? so FUCK YOURSELF and leave me alone i don't have the need to read this insane comments from a child who does'nt know that thyere are different kind of people out there

  • @cobsitosos No. You're rude. Go fuck yourself you fucking nigger. You're the one who types like an idiot.

  • @cobsitosos Mad because because people dislike your opinion about disliking this song. What makes you think we give a shit about what you think of this song?

  • @senorshorty16 at least you have a point there

  • @cobsitosos Yo Correct, -disco-Boy.

  • I think he is a meat-puppet himself ?!

  • @cobsitosos I didn't understand a lick of this.

  • @cobsitosos Ahahaha so you base your whole opinion on the Meat Puppets by hearing a COVER they did for a magazine compilation celebrating an anniversary of an album they don't have anything to do with? That's great, you sir are smart.

  • @cobsitosos why do u dislike nirvana? u have any idea what the lyrics are about? its inescapable.. blind.

  • vocalist sounds too pitchy for this song

  • I thought about it and the difference is Nirvana covers the meat puppets and makes it sound incredible. On the other hand Meat puppets cover nirvana and it sucks balls.

  • It's like they're trying too hard to sound creally crappy

  • i think this is beyond awesome. i'm sure cobain would have gotten a great kick out of hearing this.

  • Smells like teen spirit can't be done good acousticly. You would expect Meat Puppets to know better.

  • yikes. Now i feel like I need Heroin..... this stinks.

  • Its awesome, in my opinion

  • BONGOS!? nice.

  • wow they didnt even try.damn after kurt put so much effort into covering their songs >.>

  • only about three songs on that cover album were really terrible. the best prob was jeff the brotherhood's somthing in the way or charles bradly's stay away.

  • This is so bad!!!! They ruined this song

  • @Adrianrff You're very welcome.
