Personally i think it's stress that's caused her vocal problems.. sadly.. i am a singer and i lost many people i love and went through alot of stress and lost my voice for almost a year.. but that's just what i think :)
@sarkahin This was an off day. Of course the drugs changed her sound but she still sounds great. Slowly through her tour her voice got stronger and stronger. I saw her in one of the middle dates of the tour and she sounded amazing! :) Look up the video titled "Whitney Houston - I Look to You - Nottingham HD" to see how different it is from this! :)
I think she looks great. Maybe she doesn't sound the way she used to but, I think time she will. People are so quick to critize. I think the fact that she got out there and did it is amazing and takes a lot of guts. I have always loved Whitney and always will. I don't like what she did but, I still love her. Whitney sounded much better than this when I saw her on her 2010 Tour! She sounded fantastic, like she did at the AMAs! :) Fans told me that her voice goes croaky like this at the end of every month because of "her once a month" and it appears to be correct as her voice is great for the concerts on her tour until the end of the month and of course - thats what the media publisize :/ She was fantastic at the concert I went to! :D
who cares if she can't hit the notes she used to? she was who she was then and she is who she is now. Its amazing, no matter how bad she sounds, her fans still love and follow her. True love there. I think Whitney should have gave it at least another year of rest before singing again. I wish her the best and happy she got her life back again.

Aretha is still performing and awing crowds to this day (see her Rock HoF 25 Concerts on here). It's like going to the gym after years; it's achy the first few times; but once you get into the groove, it becomes relaxing; by the middle of her tour she should be close to her old self again (hopefully). Plus, this event was FREE so it's not like the crowd is getting ripped of at all. She'll need to bring it for her $100+ events though; if you don't like it, see Aretha instead before she passes!
She is a mess here vocally. A mess. Watch her appearance on Letterman from the beginning days and enjoy that. She was amazing. Glad she is alive...but its time to put the mike down.

i always loved her voice and i wanted to hear her sing again, i have to agree with u guys that her voice is not even 1/8 of what it was. how can u not damage your vocals with years of drugs. She cant reach the high notes at all, her voice is very raspy, i don't think she'll get it back (sad to say), i love whitney, but her music highlights are in the past, i am really glad she is trying, but her voice sounds like she is a smoker. Her voice is very very damaged, however with work and rest and singing she'll get it back... and if anything she'll have a different voice and sound... and a ton more soul... She still has a ton of vocal quality, phrasing, and style. However yes it is damaged. You can't do what she did and not lose your voice, but I suspect she'll be healed and singing like her old self soon...

I have always loved Whitney's voice. She once had the BEST voice on the planet. But on a scale of 1 to 10 with 10 being Whitney's 'I will always love you' days, this performance rates no more than a 5 at best. I hope a vocal coach can bring back the voice that crack took away but I doubt it.

I think this song is about her relationship with God. She has reached the bottom and found her way to light. Ofcourse it is emotional. And you people should be ashamed of yourselves saying that she is still doing drugs. Her voice breaks, buts it comes from her heart, because she found God .

Aretha is still performing and awing crowds to this day (see her Rock HoF 25 Concerts on here). It's like going to the gym after years; it's achy the first few times; but once you get into the groove, it becomes relaxing; by the middle of her tour she should be close to her old self again (hopefully). Plus, this event was FREE so it's not like the crowd is getting ripped of at all. She'll need to bring it for her $100+ events though; if you don't like it, see Aretha instead before she passes!

i always loved her voice and i wanted to hear her sing again, i have to agree with u guys that her voice is not even 1/8 of what it was. how can u not damage your vocals with years of drugs. She cant reach the high notes at all, her voice is very raspy, i don't think she'll get it back (sad to say), i love whitney, but her music highlights are in the past, i am really glad she is trying, but her voice sounds like she is a smoker. Drugs change your hormones which changes your vocals

No matter what, Ms. Whitney has been a gift to all of us. She may have taken a detour in life, but she has giving million's a gift, one that will never ever be forgotten. She was all but 22 years old when I first had the pleasure of seeing & hearing her perform live @ The Boston Music Hall, where she was flawless & brought the house down. Events like that don't happen to many folks in their entire lifetime, but w/ Whitney it's happened many times. Let her back where she belongs & God Bless You!

AWESOME!This is the Whitney you would get on a sunday morning testifying through song.You cant look at your mom cry and not do the same. Im a true whitney fan and appreciate the good and bad. I appreciate that she never lip syncs.You always get the real deal, I can listen to recordings anytime. The REAL crackheads are those who still believe Nippy is a crackhead; they don't follow the music news very well! If radio won't keep the album selling, next year's tour might (complete with copies of the CD for sale at every venue). Whitney, we love you. Love this track on your album. It takes an enormous amount of courage to come back after what she has been through. Whitney is one of the most famous people in the world. That weight is enormous, something that none of of us can possibly relate to. She has shown enormous courage and I'm happy that she is on the road to recovery. This was an emotional performance for her, and her Oprah performance was phenomenal - her best in years. God bless you Whitney! We love you.

Well obviously u didnt see her on Oprah days later when she blew the roof off with I didn't know My Own Strength and I love the Lord! She had grown women and men crying in the stands! GMA wasn't supposed to happen but she's a trooper and showed up even when she wasn't feeling too good! Besides, Whitney's singing to the the lovers! I'm glad she didn't care to mime either! I was actually 3 seats away from Clive Davis at the Oprah taping. She did so well and gave you the chills if you were there. Her voice is very very damaged, however with work and rest and singing she'll get it back... and if anything she'll have a different voice and sound... and a ton more soul... She still has a ton of vocal quality, phrasing, and style. However yes it is damaged. You can't do what she did and not lose your voice, but I suspect she'll be healed and singing like her old self soon...

listen whitney did a 2 day interview and a performance right before this with oprah so her voice was strained and i seen her performance on Oprah and she made me (A MAN) cry, usually artist dont do interviews then sing then sing live they usually let their voice rest for atleast 2 days, but she still did her thing on here fuck all the tone deaf haters on this channel

I have always loved Whitney's voice. She once had the BEST voice on the planet. But on a scale of 1 to 10 with 10 being Whitney's 'I will always love you' days, this performance rates no more than a 5 at best. I hope a vocal coach can bring back the voice that crack took away but I doubt it.
