I like my taccea la notte placida to have a narative feel to it,.. Much like regnava nel silenzio.... This is a medium tempo aria and if taken too slow it drowns the tension in the lower parts and it sounds like freni singing the ''la pace del'aVel'' in tu che le vanita.....  renee should try d'amour sull'alli rosee...

There is no connection between natural voice, vocal training, musicality and poetic quality. Fleming has a great voice which is produced beautifully and has a lovely presentation, all of which have contributed to her operatic superduperstardom.Like many top stars before her, there is virtually no attempt at creating the poetry of the libretto, nor is there a lot of "true musicality" in her performances. I guess individual fans react to this individually,

A truly stunning voice, but the mannerisms get extremely distracting after a while.

This tempo skewers the aria... but this is typical Fleming.. tempos not written by the composer. its all about her... we need to notice her voice.. the hell with the rest of the music. I have grown to dislike her, for her lack of musical taste. Immensely talented, but flawed as an artist. her interpretations of these various roles , will be forgotten in the annals of operatic history.. They are not inciteful. And you do not alter VERDI( the B flat at the end).

I love her and i find it gorgeous, but i have to say i don't get why does she sing this Bb at the end. I think it is the first time i hear it, and i admit i don't like it. There is not a Bb in the score and from my point of view it doesn't suit it at all.

She's really quite fabulous in the way she adjusts to the different styles mentally. However I always find something missing from her singing - even the most tender of emotion still seems mannered, like she doesn't want to really bare her heart...
