  • this is me song,,,an we do it oohhh

  • To me, it looks like Joanne is about to crack- up with laughter, just as she starts to sing, but somehow manages to hold herself together.

  • Thanks for posting this video. I had often wondered what ever happend to R & J Stone. Haven't heard any of their music on the radio etc here in Australia since the 70's. Gwen, thank you for posting that your sister Joanne had passed away in 1979.

I now know why they stopped recording.

  • Saw this video clip on tv here when the song was released in Australia. Can't believe it was that long ago as theres a young "Molly" Meldrum hosting Countdown with John Paul Young! Still love the song, wish she lived to record more sonds!

  • @pinkandjefflynne thank you i use you tube to step back in time as the music thats on offer today has no meaning i am sure you have your own preferenc but the one thing that bring s us all together is our love of the music we have grown up with thats why this site is so popular once again thank for removing your coment

  • @MrGary1960 Peace and goodwill to youtube...music makes the world go round

  • I agree a tragic loss,a great song and i would melt if a woman looked at me like that!

  • I'd always remembered this song from my childhood. I harassed an older brother's girlfriend to make a compilation of all my favourite songs on a tape. She did and this was one of them. Brings back some amazing memories from that chapter in my life. I'd never seen the video clip before seeing it here. Thanks for posting.

  • do you have an mp3 of this song

  • Excellent track! Sadly all but ignored now. What a shame! Very similar in type to Player's, Baby Come Back, which is also excellent. Another track which also doesn't get the recognition it deserves.

  • The first time I heard this song was in the early 90's I had Superman III recorded from TV on VHS. Dueing the adverts I remember the old Cadbury's Wispa advert. Which showed this woman eating a bar of Wispa in her front garden with loads of nomes and these stunt guys all riding on the same bike eating a bar as well. This was my first experience with the song. Great little song! :D

  • My friend jim robb from dundee scotland loves this. Give him some love please xx

  • Great 70s ballad.

  • thanks so much my favorite nice to see their video!

  • ty so much for posting been looking for this for everrrrr

  • I remember this as a kid watching countdown. Brings back fond memories.

  • Wow - well it's song that I knew as a child and I've never forgotten it: I love it!

  • Can't believe I found this here. Great song and it just so happens I was also the film editor on this video all those years ago.

  • I love this song.. thanks for posting. Gorgeous clip too.. wish it was full version.

  • I was lucky enough to meet R&J Stone at Harrods, where I worked at the time. I asked them for their autograph, which I still have. It is dated 28th May 1976.

  • That is wonderful you have such a treasured autograph :)

I still love this song so very much even after all these years :)

  • Lavene - thank you for your reply. I wonder if R&J Stone's appearances on Top Of The Pops are still in the BBC's archives. Sadly, many editions of TOTP from the 60s and 70s were wiped.

  • Their TOTP performances do exist, they showed one on TOTP2 once.

  • Awh, this song is so wonderful!

  • It would be wonderful if anyone had the full length version of this?

    :-)

  • LaybuyLee added April 18th , don't miss out.

  • Sorry to hear about Joanne's premature passing. By the way, Tony Burrows told me R Stone replaced him in the touring version of the Brotherhood of Man around ("United We Stand") 1970 or '71. He probably also sang on those records up until '73 or so when they changed the entire line-up.

  • Wow i love this song:)

  • Stunning song and Joanne radiates. I would love to give her a hug. Her spirit is alive she certainly touched me. Thanks Russell Thanks Joanne and thanks for posting.

  • one of the best songs of the 70,s

  • been trying so hard to get the full verison of this..its a fab song and i remember it so well

  • Russell later married my best friend's aunt (they're divorced now) and my friend came across this song last year, and sent me an mp3 of it. So, if you want the song I can email it to you. If you're interested, send me a personal message. Also, anyone else is welcome if they want the mp3.

  • "And we do it, got a lot of real love and a deep affection and we do it, every night, every day, every possible way and we do it" and nobody gets upset or makes a fuss, unlike Relax by Frankie

  • There must be many thousands who have searched

for any version of this magic , hypnotic song

since a few years after it became unavailable.

I know because I'm one who has,and here it is.

To also find out so much about it I never even

knew before now ,what a moment, but then every

time I hear it on the radio it has this effect

  • This song is so timeless and underrated, back in '76 i was a brit living in Long Island, New York, and heard it by chance on the radio, it was never a hit on U.S shores, and at the time I thought the group were american, I was so proud when I later learned they were british.

  • Russell Stone is English. His wife Joanne, who died of cancer in 1979, and who was the "J" in the duo, was American.

  • Cheers for that jimmansfield1, I was only half right

  • The first time I heard this song is when I was station in the UK in 1976 & I really love it (the song that is). I do hope that someone could get the whole version upload when ever they get the opportunity but whoever post this "THANK YOU."

  • wow this gave me goosebumps shame it was'nt the full version!oh the memories of 76 what a year!

  • i love this song i was only about 4 when it came out back in 1976 but having heard it years down the line and watched a performance on the classic 70s programme supersonic mike mansfield,i think its one of the greatist tunes ever written ive never seen this video before so sad about joanne she looks fabulous in the video

  • I will always remember this song from the Thursday night disco held at the Lea Manor Hotel near Wolverhampton, England at the time. It was always packed and what a hot summer...great times..! The song is still as great today as it was then.

This is the first time I have seen the video and Joanne Stone looks beautiful, so sorry to hear that she has passed away.

  • a superb song with sould and heart in it. must say it does bring a lump to the throat when i hear it. would love to have it on cd but not to worry.

  • Joanne Stone is my sister (deceased). It was touching and amazing to see this performance. I have had to commit her performances to memory. She is even more beautiful and talented than I remember. My heart swells with pride when I watch her and Russell perform. We love and miss her so much. Her memory will forever be cherished and her spirit lives on through her family. Thank you for providing us with this clip.

    Gwyn D

  • That's fine.

I'll be happy to find more R & J Stone videos, although this will take sometime.

  • What an honour Gwyn!

That is the Australian music show Countdown and the man that introduces the song is John Paul Young a very popular entertainer, he is later seen with Ian "Molly" Meldrum the host of the famous show.

I found something that Russell wrote a while back about how he came to terms with the tragedy of losing his wife, your lovely sister.

The song and your sister will always be remembered.

  • Hello

This has been one of my favourite songs all time - It delights and moves me just as much today as it did in 1976 as a child.

Also very sad to hear that Joanne passed away so young - I only discovered this recently.

All these years I imagined her - and she continues to be a presence through this song

    Best wishes

    Dave

  • you must have been so very proud of such a beautiful talented sister...

its a song i shall never forget, shame we cannotr see the full version

  • Sorry to hear that Joanne had died so long ago, always remember this song from when I was a child, and have always loved it, a true classic - you have every right to be proud of this.

Thanks also to the poster, I've never seen this video before.

  • @71573 i grew up loving this song i am 50 now it still is my all time favorit song it is so sad that that joanne past away so young she aws so very talented and is sadly missed

  • @71573 Russell went to my school (Wymondham College), albeit just before me, so I've always had a soft spot for this song. Your sister Joanne was truly beautiful and far too young to have passed away. It's great that you have these video memories by which to remember her.

  • hey! i read your comments with your sis! did you know that im in love with her even though i did not see her!!!only now in you tube so she now dead!!! but im still in love witth her voice!!!

  • @71573 Dearest Gwyn D, I got goose pimples when I read that you are Joanne's sister. Beautiful singer and person whose death has always made me very sad :-(

What happened to her? :-( Her spirit lives in my country all the time, especially on every 24th August where we have thousands of parties celebrating Nostalgia Night. R & J Stone's songs are a must down here.

Big hug from Montevideo, Uruguay, South America Billy

  • @71573 so sad to hear the news of your sister but this song is a classic and what a voice she had may she rest in peace

  • @71573 Your sister was very talented and you should be very proud. This has always been a favourite song of mine. I have loads of hits from the 50s to the 80s but I have really struggled over the years to find a cd with this wonderful song on it. My search goes on!
