This concert was broadcast to Australian and New Zealand. He's very emotional singing this particular song because he had to have surgery on his vocal cords the next day and he had been told he might not sing again. You can hear the difference in his voice here as compared to earlier live performances. He really gave everything to make this the definitive performance of the song.

Please. Good version, yes. The Best?( and I know we all have our opinions) but please check out solo version posted by "froy2".Real emotion flowing from Elton at the songs end-which is what makes those live versions far better than studio.You can "feel IT"when done by a great talent as HE is..

In my opinion, there isn't a finer version of this song than this one. This one and "Your Song" were both given definitive treatments at this show. Elton's broken technical skills were made with the emotional brevity he put into the songs that night. The broken sound in his voice adds so much to the song.
