  • they safe life becoz of this!!! Awesome!

  • what if I open the door as soon as the car touches the water? the pressure outside must be not that high

  • Can anyone give me a link to the "alaska special, episode 101?"

  • Why exactly did he need to do that with his glasses on?

  • um........... considering the fact that when u are dorwning in a FAKE inviornment its all in how long u can hold ur breath. in a real acident, u can hold ur breath for almost 2 minutes + ur normal breath hold. so ud probably be able to out last it. btw just have a saftey apparatus in ur car!!!

  • thats what happens when u have a crappy car

  • wtf idiot if you open your window and the pressure of the water hits your body your not fully opening that window!

  • this is at my high school!!

  • Thats it, Im putting a Breathing Apparatus in my car just incase

  • @Jovanyss3 remember 20% oxygen 80%hydrogen or nitrogen.

  • @Jovanyss3 Better idea: get a hammer and bust one of the side windows. However you'll then sink in about 3 seconds but hey, at least the pressure will by equalized...

  • poor car...

  • in a situation like that you should open your windows to let water come in faster so you can get out faster

  • @surfrider4 lol i think if the window is open, u can just leave through it. xD

  • @surfrider4 They tested that too; the pressure of the water on the glass is too high for that to work.

  • that looks like fun

  • they did all these myths ages ago

  • what is you cant take of your seatbelt?

  • This is the first time but seriously they have tested all these myths and this aint a revisit this is just mixed up footage with new cg and the dialog part is new but even in mythbusters web they say it's a revisit but it ain't.

  • Mythbusters Episode 72, "Underwater Car".

    Shenanigans!

  • didnt they already do all these myths ages ago?

  • @xXReborn

yeah seriously! And if you watch the actual episode, adam says something at the beginning like "this is something i've wanted to test since we started this show" well you already did...

  • @xXReborn i think so even looks like the same fotage...

  • Top gear's in-house Hamster had done it years ago.

The advice is: open the door before the water shuts you in.

  • lol idiot started before the pressure equalized, wasted all his oxygen.

  • Mythbusters FTW

  • please tell me that is'nt clorine!!!!

  • Lol, it would be better to open the window so as to equalize the pressure faster. That way you don't have to hold your breath as long. However, it works best with manual windows (roll downs), because in an automatic window, the mechanism may have been damaged in the accident.

  • @wolfie333

I agree with you, I was thinking of the same thing.

  • woaah

  • Why are you 'airing' old footage? :l

  • Adam is soooo funny in the name of science =D! Haha!

  • @DeeJayBounce It was Jamie, he is a profersonal scuba diver. They tell you in the full episode.

  • No shit sherlock, I know that. I just couldn't tell whether or not it was Jamie in the car as it was a second diver that brought him to the surface.

  • @DeeJayBounce what do you mean you can tell? they say "and signals for Jamie to give him the regulator". 1:45

  • @DeeJayBounce He used to be a diver....

  • No shit sherlock, I know that. I just couldn't tell whether or not it was Jamie in the car as it was a second diver that brought him to the surface.

  • @DeeJayBounce Lolz ^.^ You sked so I just tryed to answere

  • @DeeJayBounce yea he dives

  • ...

  • @DeeJayBounce yes, he was.

  • But this is a repeted episode no¿

  • @puntacanaprod

Yes, and it is quite an old video...

  • Looks like a nightmare, but he should have climbed to the back of the car, since that part got air longer than the rest of the car

  • how about winding down the window hahaha

  • i'm pretty sure that's what they do

  • They did this on Topgear....the best thing to do is as soon as you hit the water, start opening the door and get out

  • ... Why are they doing this one again?

  • what's Adam's last name? jw

  • @cuddlywcris

    adam savage

  • I know this has nothing to do with the video and may sound like a stupid question but how do you put a picture on your channel/profile where the silhouette person is? Thanks!

  • @prophetofpeace2010 click on your username in the top right of the screen and click account and an overview page will open there will be the lil silhouette guy and under that itll say change and viola :D

  • @alecz444 Thanks! :)

  • oh wait yeah last night

  • That's why you kick on your front windsheild with both feet, opening the doors not gonna work

  • I seen this last night.Oo

  • u should open the door before u sink

  • @aslp6Anan The currents of the water rushing into the car because of the difference in pressure would just slam the door shut again, or just push you back.

  • TOP GEAR ISN'T FUNNY AND IT IS FUCKING TERRIBLE.

  • i know top gear one is better XD

  • Top Gear did this years ago.....

  • @Infloresence yeah and this is from a mythbuster episode that is about 3-4 years old this is part of there top 25 myth episode they are gonna put on tonight

  • in this episode they take out the engine and transmission, so that the water didn't get contaminated, i think they should put someking of weight in the car to make up the difference.

  • @justahuman74 ,They did.

  • @justahuman74 ... "The 700lb FAKE Engine is bringing the front down first"

  • @blake1405 oh thanks, i need to pay more attention, i thought they just took it out.

  • @justahuman74 :) no problem

  • @justahuman74 the did. they say in the clip that they put in a weight to make up for it

  • aren't you supposed to keep your seatbelt on when this happens? He wasn't wearing one, meaning if he really DID go flying off a bridge or was hit to the water, he would most likely be knocked out by his head hitting the steering wheel, right? And what about testing it with the windows? Like trying to put the windows down underwater and escaping or having them open while going down?

  • i wouldnt wanna be that camera man

  • FAIL! Adam

  • he could have easily unbuckled and moved to the rear seat

  • RAWR

  • So i got to know, if unfortunately when a car..diving into water..one has to open the doors..before falling in the water....!

I suppose one could slide down the Glass of the window since it will be easy to slide down even there is a lot of pressure difference...then the water will enter through the gap forming by the glass sliding down!

And one travelling along side of a water area..has to keep open his glass window open for a little extent, so it helps faster equilibrium of the pressure.

  • "signals for jamie(?) too pass him the regulator" you mean: "he grabs the regulator"?

  • Top gear did this like 4 years ago xD

  • @PaTTy4LiF3 I was about to say the same thing. lol

  • How many seconds did it actually take for it to equalize?

  • ohhh...that's so scary!!

  • The music to this sounds like that from Perfect Disaster, another Discovery Channel show.

  • BREAK the window

  • @doubleohnine the water would push all that glass at you. lol.

  • @lilgate1212 BEFORE the water got that high

  • @doubleohnine I think that would be like trying to break a block of cement, haha. The pressure is just too great outside the window in order to do this.

  • @OobooChoo *sigh*........BEFORE.......the water is even touching the window......BREAK it. hes got 5 different windows to choose from while he was sitting there waiting for it to flood

  • wont it equalise quicker with the window open?

  • @petersims411 You wouldn't have to wait then, you could just go out of the window

  • @Blacksabor91 Oh yea oops!! DERP!!!

  • @petersims411 if you mean, if he opened the window wouldent it go faster? then no.. because of the pressure he wouldent be able to open the window

  • @lobbiester Pressure wouldn't make a difference, the movement of the window is perpendicular to the direction of the pressure
