I remember this from when I was a kid. My favorite Levi commercial was the one with the Levi emblems dropping from the sky in parachutes. And they had the sound of the wind and it was real neat. I can't find it anywhere though. I'm 40 now too.
We sung this song for YEARS after we saw this as kids. If heard from another room, we would run to watch it... and memorize the words to impress the kids at school. They should bring a version of this back for todays kids. I realize Levi's is going with the "Too cool for you" ads... which is a shame. Wrangler is marketing towards families and out-selling Levi's. Why pay $39.99-$44.00 for a pair of kid jeans when you can get Wrangler for $14.99-$24.99. Love Levi's..but i puhleeze!
I remember that one. I think it was for Sunoco gas stations. There was one part where they said "..and we'll check under your hood" and they gas station attendant pulled back the driver's toupe.
Love this.My all time favorite commercial as I was a kid in the 70's.Best time in the world to be alive. I always wore levis as did my brothers and friends....haw haw....love it! I'm 48
Love this.My all time favorite commercial as I was a kid in the 70's.Best time in the world to be alive. I always wore levis as did my brothers and friends....haw haw....love it!
I envy kids today in one respect. The technology that is so readily available today will give them the ability to store all of their childhood memories. We had no such technology. When I was a kid, if you had a camera you were lucky. There were no VCR's in them days. Video cameras were a rarity. What I wouldn't give to see my childhood played back in HD. To see my old friends in 1080p. Yes, todays kids are lucky in that respect.
@YesYou123333 No way!...the problem with having EVERYTHING recorded is the novelty appeal is lost. I just get a kick getting on you tube and searching for, and locating, something I haven't seen in literally decades like this Levis commercial. This takes me right back to 1974-75, end of summer, early August, just when I start missing school. That's when these back to school (elementary) commercials started to run and I was ready to hit the stores for new clothes. I like it this way better!
@buck62sugar I understand what you're saying but isn't there an old friend you would like to see again? You won't find that on YouTube. I don't even have photographs of my childhood friends.
@YesYou123333 ...OK, I'll concede to you that point. Yes, I would like to have had more pictures (or a few more 8 mm movies) of my friends, and childhood in general. The one thing I find, however, is when I locate something I haven't seen in decades is it triggers other dormant memories which is kind of cool. At that moment I can retrieve a vivid mental picture of a friend or relative; something I wouldn't have been able to do if not for viewing the original triggering image...cont
I am also 44 and everything seemed back then much simpler and not cynical. Meeting different people everyday was an adventure with no cellphones to interrupt/trivialize the real world...I miss my big wheel, burger king hat and GI Joe with kung-fu grip...oh and any big box I could play with my friends.
Okay, think same theme song, but either a claymation or animated commerical with a Tarzan swinging around in trees wearing jeans. Am I hallucinating or am I really remembering it from back about the same time as this one? I can see it in my head but cannot find it online anywhere! I was about 7-10 years old when I think it came out and it is driving me crazy not knowing if I am remembering it or dreamed it!
wow, I have not seen this in roughly 33 years and the second the music started I though this was not the commercial I was looking for, it was way to familiar...but in fact it was. Amazing jingle to stick with me this long, and ya levi's are the best
This is probably the goofy ad that made me want to start wearing Levis, until 30 years later when i could get Wranglers for half the price! thanks for sharing
Eerie... When I have seen Levi's jeans I have, on occasion, said "Leee -heee -heee -heee - vies" but didn't remember why.... This was so cool to see again, god bless the 70s.i beleive these commercials ran from 74-76,also remember when they were flying with same song, great memories of that era.
Does anyone have the one with this same song, but he's flying in his levi jeans? I just love this song. I was singing it to my son this afternoon & he asked me to look for the commercial to show him. He's going to be so happy - just as I am. Thank you for sharing - so happy. Makes one smile :)
Thank you so much!!!!! I remember this commerical around 1975 (I think..) It was awesomw, brings back happy memories of a much more simple, carefree time.
Totally remember this commercial, which I just re-found here. Came out July-August of that year. In retrospect, it seems so long, almost a "documentary," compared to today's blink-attention-span TV ads. Simpler days, ahhh... Thank you!
My earliest memory of this song for Levis accompanied a cell animated , Yellow Submarine motif with flying jeans and LSD inspired rainbows and god knows what else drifting and transitioning throughout. It really struck me as a 4 year old circa 1970, and the tune had made a neuro-home in me after all these years. Thank you!!
I remember they used to run this commercial late summer, just before kids returned to school. Every year, I got depressed when I heard this song because I knew I was returning to school soon.
omg! this commercial is pretty awesome. im being serious. its much better that half of the ads for levis now. this makes me want to run out and buy several pairs of levis and go to the park and pick up some old woman preferably betty white and go make out with her.
Wow! This is a stroll down memory lane. Loved those Levis commercials back then. I wish someone would post the one that had a robot on it and he's a jeans tester or something and it shows him quickly doing deep knee bends and rubbing his butt on the ground to show how tough the jeans are. In the meantime, thank you for posting this!
This is a perfect example of using music in advertising. Many here like myself still remember this commercial and song from when we were kids in the 70's. I was stunned to find on on Youtube and man does that bring me back. Its such an odd funny song that its easy to see why so many people remember seeing it. Now everyone....Sing it to someone and do it with feeling!
Does anyone remember Levi's "Movin' On" jeans? The song went, "Movin On jeans . . . jeans for your fit, jeans for your fashion. Jeans that'll make you stop and stare, Movin' On jeans are everywhere . . . Movin' On jeans. I hope someone posts this.
I remember! That song was very catchy. I remember there were a group of young people frolicking on the beach. That commercial was on channel 13 KCOP in Los Angeles all the time in 1977-1978. I too would love to see that commercial again and hear that song. I never had any "Movin on jeans" though, my mom always bought me "tough skins from sears"!
@1wedway me too man, I hated the toughskins. I finally got some levis around 8th grade or so , along with some NBA's, remember those shoes..ha ha..great times, adolescent years.
This had to be early - mid 70's. I still hear this song in my head on the way to work. This is the first time I have heard it in 35 something years. Who says commercial music sux??? Thanks for the memorable post!
The song is a variation of Jimmie Rogers' "Muleskinner Blues" from 1930, which was itself based on a Tom Dickson tune from 1928. No clue who sang this for Levis.
I remember this from summer/fall 1976 - I was going into 8th grade - worst school year of my life. This song still rings bittersweet in my head - 33 years after the fact. Thanks for posting this vid.
HOLY CRAP, i can't believe this is on youtube! The stop-action animation in this commercial did blow my mind as a little kid. I thought the jingle was really freaky too ... and got stuck in my head!
If you saw this commercial as a kid you can't forget it. I found out I've been humming that song just a little bit wrong but close all these years. Good clean fun!
I remember this commercial; never have forgotten that quirky jingle in all the years since. I'm 38 now but I had to be, like, 3 or 4 years old when this commercial ran. Long live the 1970's!!!
I have looked for these commercials for ages ! Thanks for posting. DO I WIN THE PRIZE FOR BEST MEMORY?? THESE CAME OUT WHEN I WAS ABOUT 4 YRS OLD AND TO THIS DAY I SING AND REMEMBER THAT 'WEE HEE HEE HEE HEE VIES' SONG THEY SING IN HERE!!! ha.
Thank you>>This is my favorite commercial ever...I have never forgotten the melody or lyrics....but wasnt there another version where he flew through the air???
Early to mid '70's. Posted this mainly for those in my generation to get a flashback. If the younger crowd likes it then more the better. I believe there were several variations of this CM but all with the same music bed.
@johng618 Thanks for the post- I was looking so long ! As a teenager my brother and I, both look like him. As my bro walked out the front door everyday-- "GOOD MORNIN WORLD - I'M A READY FOR YOU-" . He died and I wanted to share it with his adult daughter now. Great flashback. thanks.
I need to see a commercial called "Backwards" (at least that's what FCB said it's called), where the same kid walks forwards through the neighborhood and everything else goes backwards.
I'm 43 now but when I see and hear this, I'm 7 years old again. Everything was possible and I wanted to do everything....life was so simple...just go outside and play...
Also a 43 year old- got my Hot Wheels, Wonder Bread, Little League baseball, a neighborhood filled with NEIGHBORS- not strangers... We have to improve this life for our Grandkids- we grew up in the best time ever. As you say... everything was (is) possible.
ThickAzABrick , I totally get the NEIGHBORS comment. When I was a kid there was a nice lady all the kids called "the candie lady". She was an older lady that lived alone and every once in a while we could knock on her door and she would give us a cookie or a small snack. Its hard to imagine that sort of thing today, people would accuse her of trying to poison kids etc. She was cool and I carry that memory along with this song in my head remembering childhood times.
maybe if we still made great goofy commercials like that still we would boost our damned economy I mean why dont levi advertise like that no more now its some trasy ho recounting all the lovers she had every time she takes em off or puts em bak on.
No way!!! I posted this exact same question to someone elses upload of this same commercial...Of course I remember that one!!! If anyone has it PLEEEEEEEASE post!!!
Oh MAN! This brings back a flood of memories from my youth.
This song was used in another 70's stop-motion Levi's commercial where a kid floated, on his knees two feet off the ground, out his door, down the street, etc. Very clever. Very unforgettable. Anybody know where that video is?
AMAZING! I'm 44 and I vividly remember this commercial from when I was a kid. The damn song has been in my head (every single word) for the past 35 years. Brought back a lot of childhood memories. HAW-HAW!
i think there are maybe 2 other levis commercials out there from the same time w/the same song...i remember another one similar to this stop motion one....somehow i remember bubbles tho....someone please find them!
I know what you both mean...I was going crazy trying to find this song and commerical. I guess somebody thinks like us and remembers the good times...not so much the clothes.
I used to wear those pants and sing that song while riding my schwinn orange krate.those were the days.

Early to mid '70's. Posted this mainly for those in my generation to get a flashback. If the younger crowd likes it then more the better. I believe there were several variations of this CM but all with the same music bed.

I remember the jingle like it was yesterday, but I also remember, animated walking/sliding jeans going around the park.

THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU!!!

@paktype...I agree with you 100 percent! I am 42, and I wish it was the 1970's, all over again! Good times, back in the day!

maybe if we still made great goofy commercials like that still we would boost our damned economy I mean why dont levi advertise like that no more now its some trasy ho recounting all the lovers she had every time she takes em off or puts em bak on.

Oh MAN! This brings back a flood of memories from my youth.
This song was used in another 70's stop-motion Levi's commercial where a kid floated, on his knees two feet off the ground, out his door, down the street, etc. Very clever. Very unforgettable. Anybody know where that video is?

I remember this! the goofy HAW HAW of the singer and the pixilation animation of the characters. very crude pixilation from the looks of it!

This comment has received too many negative votes show
whoever was in any way responsible for the production and airing of this commercial should be executed by firing squad without a trial. Peace.
