  • Pretty dies trains isn't!!!

  • shame really i liked the 31s very much

  • its abit ironic actually.... the 31's being built in the late 50's and early 60's they sent a great majority of steam locomotives to the breakers yard, looks like its their turn....

  • .....are the hoppers going for scrap as well?

  • no,they went back to toton, they were used for brake force as the 31's had no brakes

  • That little shunter looked pretty nifty at the end there!! Kind of like the execusioners assistant!

  • Poor 745 0nly ran a further 4 months before being stored and scrapped in 2004

  • They look like the old deltics engines.

  • its like the 31s are screaming in pain coz they are gonna be cut up. is there any scrapyards like that left where you can see the rusting wrecks of locos?

  • booths at rotherham

  • cool thanks

  • I was an enthusiast in the early/mid 90s in the north-east and knew nothing of this scrapyard. Back then everything seemed to get scrapped at Booth Roe or MC Metals. How long have Thomsons been cutting locos?

  • they started cutting locos regularly in 2000,before that it was usually just wagons.

  • Sad site to see, I remember them well.

  • I love the classical locos like the 47s. Shame the 66s took over.

  • 2:44 to 3:19 is some interesting noise. And yet another classic falls victim to the cutters torch...

  • I was in Tompsons a few days ago the place is littered with 08 31 and 47 parts. Cab ends, engine blocks, generators, traction motors, wheel sets, bogie frames etc. Im not sure if any of it is for sale though.

  • pity they wont allow visitors, booths at rotherham do £5 on a saturday morning

  • all of that train inclding wagons is now prob scraped!

  • wagons might still exist but the 31's&47 have been scrapped.

  • yh i no

  • not all of them some 31s and 47s are been saved and run in working order. whereas some still need to be overhauled.

  • no,they were delivered for scrap.

  • This is the one near the end of dovecot street right?

I cant recognise the area at all!

Is that stockton station in background?

Tompsons must use old br land then eh?

    Cool video.

  • filmed from the footbridge near stockton station,i don't think it is old br land, they have been there years

  • I meant to say the lines that go behind the station must be br land,; old loco sheds space.

They broke class 24 at thrompsons as well u know.

5032 was driven under own power from down south to thompsons for scrap but the nymr bought it.

  • years ago there were loads of sidings opposite north shore signalbox where thomson used to store his condemned wagons

  • I've been looking for pictures of the railway bridge over norton rd for ages cant find on,

the bridge from north shore junction to the iron works, there was 2 over rds.

  • nice, do the 31's work?

  • stockton north east england

  • where is this?
