  • If you only came to this because of pawn stars then you're an idiot

  • Pawn stars made me check this out...

  • I'm doing a research project on this right now. It was proved in 1997 by a team of NASA researchers that an electric spark ignited the fabric of the Hindenburg. It burst into flames because there was a waterproof coating made of nitrate and aluminum powder. These are used in making gunpowder and rocket fuel. Added with the hydrogen, the Hindenburg was a flying powderkeg waiting to go off.

  • @titanicgirl10108 what if that was you, yea you would care

  • I still am wondering why they are filming this, The Hindeburg was a Passenger Ship. They filmed a passenger ship "landing". Anyone else wonder that?

  • Gay...

  • A bird crashed into it.

  • Oh, the Humanity!

  • @TheSteampunkdude Sorry I haven't found a video of it. Im not sure if it's true or not, but Pendragon book 3 says it was hit by a rocket, so your right about the rumor.

  • Pawn stars brought me here

  • If you guys are interested in seeing this, I suggest you read a series called Pendragon. The series is not all about this, but the third book revolves around this. Pendragon is an amazing book series, go check it out.

  • "I can hardly breathe... "

  • The reporter, the voice of a witness of a disastrous event...

The fear in his voice... It's just... ?????????

  • 1937- "Oh God, Get out of the way please!"

2011- "HOLY FUCKING SHIT, BACK THE FUCK OUT SO I CAN SEE THIS SHIT BURNING! OH FUCK "

  • There's a rumor about the part where he says, "Lady, I'm sorry."...the rumor says he says that because a woman passed out from seeing this happen and fell against him and he was holding her up and said "Lady, I'm sorry." when he set her on the ground because he couldn't hold her up anymore or didn't want to hold her up any longer. Has anyone else heard of this rumor?

  • @DimplesOfIreland That would probably make sense 'cause initially I didn't hear 'lady' before he said 'sorry' and I was thinking he was apologising to the listeners for breaking down in tears...to which I thought well I'd be doing the same thing! The rumor would make sense to me. Incredible anyone survived. -Daz in Oz

  • this guy is crying

  • How can Peter afford these things??!!!

  • @CanadianStereotype

    Haha the hindenpeter!

Really though this is such shocking footage, I learned about this in school but this is the first time I've seen the footage...

  • 'This is terrible - excuse me madam - (carrys on with fake crying

  • @Electricblue707 It appears that the combination of hydrogen along with the aluminum dope they put on the skin acted as a catalyst for the fire. The aluminum dope had the same chemical properties as the solid rocket fuel in the space shuttle (fact!) there was also an electrical storm that day. The Hburg made a sharp turn at landing and may have snapped a bracing wire which may have punctured a gas cell. When the landing lines dropped it grounded the ship.

  • they say that it wasn't the hydrogen that leaked that caused it to blow but it was the solution that was painted onto it its the same stuff you make rocket fuel out of that it caught a light some how

  • did it rain after the explosion?

  • Did the wreckage fall on the passanger compartment?

  • "Oh, the humanity" would've sounded corny if he hadn't been sobbing practically to the point of incoherence. 73 years later, it sounds melodramatic, but people actually talked like that.

  • The Disaster Took Place So very Fast Tht Nthng Cud b Done..................

  • holy crist! the guy in fact express with words all that meens to be terrifed, oh the humanity!

  • it's a sad commentary on "progress" that there have been so many so much "worst catastrophes in the world" since this time.

  • aww poor guy

  • That was terrible, but impressive!

  • Amazing!

  • Electricblue, Thanks so much for adding these great comments about that disaster. I remember as a little girl being shocked to see this for the first time and I just wanted to upload it on my channel.

  • @VandaVisions Wow, this is intense. I heard somewhere that the reason the zeppelin caught fire was from a gas leak in the back tail fin or something. Also, why is his voice high pitched like that, was it from emotion or a sound-mistake?

  • @StarCraftDude1234

They found out that Morrison's recorder was running slow so playback raises the pitch a little

  • Electricblue707, That's true. It's a mystery.

It was a time of political tension so it makes you wonder.

  • @VandaVisions

mythbusters did a whole special on it check it out

  • Poor people, and the radion reporter is so real emotional.

  • Psychedalien, I'm sure that had to be the worst thing he had ever seen.

  • @VandaVisions he in fact became a fighter pilot in ww2 so unfortunately he probably witnessed further atrocities

  • It's pretty amazing that anyone survived at all. It was enveloped in flames very quickly.

  • TheSunkenGrave, I had thought the same thing.
