  • this is not a frappés!!!!! and the arms are just horrible!

  • I can't believe this video. She's not even trying to slither her foot on the floor. She's just doing pointé.

  • THIS IS POINTÉ.

  • actually in some techniques a frappe can be done from coupe instead of a flexed foot,,the problem with this chick is you cant tell if shes in coupe devant or if shes trying to wrap her foot .. her frappes arent sharp..when she goes to the side she doesnt change her coupe from front to back, so her first frappe derriere starts from coupe devant ? i can imagine if i was a beginner trying to learn from these videos id be VERY confused ..

  • doesnt a frappe start with a flexed foot? thats how i do it at my dance school. thats how we learn to brush through the floor. but i dont understand.. how can you do a frappe with a pointed foot ?! :/

  • correct me if i am wrong but i thought that you were supposed to

start with your feet not pointed but not flexed flexed but in nuetral

position on your ankle and then once your foot comes off your ankle

you point your foot and strike the floor and you should end in a tendu

not automatically going into a tendu but you just end in one i could be

    wrong

  • Brilliant deffinetely not flexing the foot before frappe

  • her heels came from the floor during her DEMI PLIE!!!!

  • o m g... that's a really bad frappe! and you can hardly see her leg in those pants?!

  • omg i would have been sent out of class for that lesson if i wore that

  • what is she wearing?

I'd be kicked out of class for wearing that.

  • um. i dont understand. the tecnique is wrong except she has a turnout which is good i guess.... but... she's doing it as if she's on releve...even still performing it badly. she's NOT striking the floor, not bring it in with a flexed foot, its way too relaxed and argh this makes me so mad lol. even when on releve it should be sharp.. a strike. sorry but this pisses me off

  • @jaimeandcarmenshow her turnout is terrible, not good. and I agree with everything else.

  • she is NOT striking the floor, these "dance" videos annoy me..i don't even know why i am watching them. >_<

  • Oh my god.

  • This is not frappe...

  • eeww !! *frappes with a frappe in her hand 8)* IM LOVING IT !

  • omg O_O i only went to ballet for a couple months and I see this isnt right

  • who the hell taught you ballet!!!!! you shoud not be allowed on youtube. you should not be allowed to teach. you shouldnt talk like you know anything!!!!!! this is absolute crap. look at her first position. its a V. you are meant to aim for 180. that is no where near a frappe. you are wrong. my mum owns a ballet school, and her, my sister and i have spent hours pissing ourselved laughing at your stupidity. go to a ballet lesson. please, for the sake of humanity.

  • BTW Frappe means 'to strike' ie. strike the floor NOT what this video is showing. This is just a point and close to sur le coupe de pied position. Do NOT watch expert village....they are no experts!

  • That's not Frappe!

  • for a frappe you HIT the floor! that's just a lifted tondue

  • WHAT KIND OF POSITION IS THAT?? i have never in my life seen a frappe in that position. in devant it looks more like a cou de pied for fondue.

  • that is the worst technique i've ever seen in my life.

  • These aren't even frappes... i know what it is an how to do one and that is not a frappe!!!!!

  • can someone tell me how to do REAL frappe's? because i just started ballet and im trying to find decent videos and ive never seen frappes or ecartes or coupes or anything ballet related before and i need HELP!!!

  • I only started ballet a few months ago... but I still know that this is terrible.

  • my ballet teacher would be super mad at us if we did ballet lik this

  • Thankyou Jolynne that was shit.

    bad posture,

    bad turnout,

    bad arms,

    WRONG CLOTHING!

  • horrible!! 5 year olds at my ballet class can do that better!!

  • these are obviously actors... that girl has probably never danced before. Did they make all of these videos in one day or something??

  • ok first of all those are the kind of frappes you do en pointe...but even if she was en pointe they're still bad. she doesn't know how to keep her hips and shoulders square and her elbow is always drooping in all these videos!

  • Yep.. That's how you do a frappe en pointe, not on a flat standing leg.. The foot of the working leg should be flexed THEN pointed..

  • her toes are clenched............OMG not good at all !!! please get this off !!!

  • Well her thigh was moving about like I don't know what.. he foot remained pointed at all times and she didn't strike the floor.

    defo not a 'beautiful' frappe.

Ok it's beginners but if you don't learn the correct technique right away you get bad habits!

  • what!? last time i checked that wasn't a frappe. just saying.

  • It doesnt matter about size ive seen girls bigger and they can dance pretty good

  • that girl is sooo fat to be a ballet dancer.... xD

    (NO OFFENCE)

  • if they are ''experts'' then i am prima ballerina!

  • i dont want to be mean but it looks more degage because frappe means to 'strike', which means you have to strike the floor with your foot and your foot is just pointing out in front of you and not touching the group :(

  • if you guys are so good, why don't you guys do a video explaining the true thing...oh that's right , you guys aren't...

so shut up and get a life...

  • @Paulinharfr I think the problem is that she is saying this information is coming from a dance academy. The immediate thought is: dance academy = proper training of technique. In actuality, this whole series of videos teach horrid beginning lessons. I won't even say technique, because she's not even talking about what SHOULD be done through out the body technically to execute this sort of movement. The foot *striking* the ground and back to the leg is not the ONLY thing to be considered.

  • Yeah, I agree with you guiy16. It IS the teacher's fault and people should realise that....and stop picking at the girl .-.

She was taught by a crap teacher...it's not her fault :\

  • gah shes a beginner cut the girl some slack :/

  • questo video è da abolire.. è tutto sporco e brutto.. braccia rigide, brutta postura, brutta rotazione delle gambe e dei piedi.. pessima quella prima posizione,,

  • Not a Frappe ... a classical frappe.

  • mm frape means to strike? she aint doint it right and her foot is sickled too

  • lmfao!!! .. i dont see the beautiful turn out, or first ... then her arms, wow.. aweful!!! .. sec 18, lol its funny to see how someoone behind the camera tells her that her arm is wrong, she fixes it

  • arent you supposed to strike the floor when you frappe?

  • not necessarily...

this is a different kind of frappe. not many studios still do this kind.

most do the one where your toes hit the floor next to your foot and brush out like a degage.

this ones a little more classical and teachers control.

    and hey insulters,

these ballet classes are for FREE. That's why they suck so bad. if you're on youtube looking for "good technique" ballet lessons, then get off your ass and go pay for god damn classes at a studio. Geez.

  • omggg soo bad!

  • OMG i am getting addicted to watching these videos, someone take them off PLEASE!!!

  • 1 word LOOL that was bad

and then youv'e just got the babe standing on the left what was she there 4 anyway?

  • I don't even know what to say. Those frappes aren't even acceptable for a beginning adult drop in class. There are three methods on how to do a frappe, and even the Vaganova method, which maintains a pointed foot throughout, never terminates a terre. Disgraceful.

  • thats not dancing! :-/ it just wrong technic

  • she says "beautiful turnout" or "beautiful first" etc when it's NOT beautiful.

I was always taught to frappe with a flexed foot... also, she looks like she's doing tendu combo(even though her foot is wrapped, the way she puts her foot out is weird) not frappes.

  • i was taught by my first teacher to do frapps with a wrapped foot to start with so it is possible to do both. depends on which technique you are taught i guess, i was vaganova trained, but in any case that is NOT a good frapp!

  • that is definitely NOT a frappe. first of all, her head didn't even move for the postitions. and your supposed to strike with the ball of your foot, not the point. dont teach this if you can't do it right

  • uhh, fail.

  • you know what gets me? she says its "on point." first i'd like to say that was so not. she didn't stand sur le point at all. and second its pronounced EN point. so not only is it a poor attempt at speaking french properly, but she was lying at even trying to say that. its sad really

  • ya know... this is kind of insulting. and when she says devant, she says the 't ' at the end.....

  • Not to mention the head positions were completely wrong!

  • i don't understand why they are teaching people this!

everything she did was wrong. she didn't wrap her foot and she didn't strike the floor with the ball of her foot.

  • I'm at Grade 4 ballet and seriously, that was RUBBISH. The frappe movement strikes the floor with the ball of the foot, not point...

And the foot is supposed to be flexed at the neck of the foot (ankle), not pointed.

You should learn proper Classical Ballet if you want to perform in a video...

  • That was shit sorry... I don't know how, ( or why ) you think you should be trying to teach dance when all you teach is shit.

    please stop trying to teach.

  • WOW! I'm a dancer and that was shit... people that don't know how to dance shouldn't teach it haha!

  • i need to know how to spin longer not how to do a frappe

  • That was not a frappe!! You should strike the floor. In RAD syllabus you flex the foot first, but when I did Vaganova we did sur le cou de pied...

  • A frappé is a brisk, quick movement with a great amount of energy wich starts with a flexed foot.(i get seriously scolded if i do not do any of the above)

    That is all i'll say.

  • she is leaning on the bar and she is NOT doing a frappe. she is supposed to strike. not the floor exactly, but at least with that kind of energy! she was just doing a tondu from coupe!

  • :/ exactly

  • i could be wrong..im not a ballet expert or anything..but when you are not in releve, isnt your foot supposed to start flexed on the ankle and strike the floor in point. i thought starting the foot in point at the ankle was only in releve...

  • well, if you are working on strength, you do coupe. but honestly, in real dance you are right, you only do frappes with a flexed foot to start unless in releve

  • Seriously!!! They NEED to revise these with professional teachers first before they post this crap. It's not worth people watching if it's not going to teach them how to do it correctly!

  • i no u all say this is not a frappe and yes she is doing it slightly wrong ive taken ballet for 5yrs as of 2day and what im going to ask is th@ u see the other types of ballet like the russian but u are correct in the original classic american and french it is wrong her foot should be brushing the floor btw any1 who says slap the floor shutup plz u are suposed 2 brush the floor until u must bring it up and change position yes it also meens 2 strike which means u shuld brush the floor w/ a force

  • her frapes are aweful. No offence. Shes also shifting her weight towards the bar.

  • no body is perfect!!! let see if u can do a frappe.

not to be mean but if u are going to make a mean remark then learn how to spell.

  • Ok...i know how to spell it love..and its not a mean remark..its constructive critism. Thats how you get better. just to like..show you

    F R A P P E <<i can spell it.

  • She's leaning on the bar completley. You can tell, as soon as she puts her hand on the bar, she shifts.

  • wow even i know that's no frape...her foot dosn't even touch the floor!

  • im no expert in ballet but i knew frappe means slap in french and she wasent slapping the floor at all

  • if u go to a russian trained ballet studio the dont strikethe floor in frappe!!!

  • This is not a frappe!

  • thank you! finally someone realizes that! lol

  • One more thing is your foot is not pointed in the coupes, it should be flexed.

  • her foot could either be flexed or wrapped (pointed) in the coupe position, depending on the style of ballet they are doing. it is not incorrect for her to have her foot like that, although she does not wrap it very well :P

  • whatever her foot is doing she's still NOT doing a correct Frappe. Frappe means to slap or strike the floor that's the literal translation, and she's just pointing her toe from coupe to tendu!!!

  • yes well

nothing they do in any of these videos is correct

  • Frappe means to strike, and she is not striking the floor she is just doing piques. Hope no one learns from these, I would hate to see that!!

  • Not how you do it. These videos need to be deleted.

  • That is not good technique- you should be striking the floor, not just pointing your toe to it.
