Trains can potentially be far more efficient than planes. Commercial airliners have averaged 49 passenger miles per gallon (the 747 ca get up to about 91) whereas trains such as the Colorado Railcar double-deck DMU can potentially achieve 468 passenger miles per gallon. This is the way to go when fuel becomes more scarce/expensive. Not transitioning to trains in the future will make the US further uncompetitive in trade and travel with the rest of the world.

I'm with you on the AGW lie, but later he goes on to discuss state banks with his guest which I think is a major thing I think all states should do. I also think such state governments should be forced to check with state banks first before approaching the FED.

REAL military spending is more like $2-3 trillion annually. $5-10 trillion if you account for the wealth that could be created with military personnel and factories in the private peacetime sector.
Commodities will never decline because the banks will continue to be bailed out and military empire spending.
Ellen Brown's system is very simple. It IS the right system and very easy to implement. You don't need gold. If you're an Austrian, you're not an American.

Stacy is right about the US military expenditure bankrupting America. This has happened before in history when the Roman empire over expanded to the known world while neglecting its own people at the cost of the nation. I think I was reading somewhere that the US are planing on having a small contingent of military stationed in peaceful countries like Australia which is just bizarre.

@AUUnboxer Not just military. Zimbabwe didn't have external wars, Argentina didn't have wars, Germany after WW1 didn't have a war, but all of them spent themselves into bankruptcy.
The problem is govt spending, on whatever. War is just the most visible, but in the US it's not even the largest.
If the entire discretionary budget were set to 0, that includes the military, the budget still wouldn't balance because of obscene entitlements. Same as Greece.

@AUUnboxer No real contingent of US troops on Australian soil but there is a ultra secret base called Pine Gap in the middle of the desert. Not even senior politicians here can see it or be informed of its real purpose. However US congressmen can fly in and get the grand tour of this facility. As an Australain I really don't give a rats arse as have nothing against the american people and their 234 year experiment which is in its death throws.
