@The10mmTot - It's a 20inch K Dark Custom Ride. It works very well as a crash and a crash ride as well, so that's why I have it in a "crash position."
Dude, all your covers are really amazing! I currently play Piano, guitar and bass but next up is Drums and this really inspired me :] Thanks! Best covers on here(:
Dude!!! Ive looked at almost all your covers. You listen really good music. Its nice to find a fellow drummer that appreciates good music. Great cover man!!!
Wicked drum cover what is that symbol ur hitting most of the time the one with the ketter k on it cause i cant work out if that is some sort of ride cymbal or something ? :s
no more claims = cover is perfect)Muse-ic is awesome and your drumming too ))
it's very good, that you listen such a great band as Muse :) respect man )
what is about radiohead..hey,people,did you forget 1999??Showbiz, f**k it..no one could say anything bad about Muse those years cause all critics and fans of radiohead were in knockout!Muse killed all..their music is unique and all of us know it..
Doesn't this video doesn't deserve the one dislike that is has! Great playing, you've obviously got the feel spot on, and you look like you're having fun! What more could you want?
@flashpro62 - It's not so hard man. You just need a decent computer that has "movie making" software. You record yourself playing the song but only let the drums pick up on the mics. Do this by playing with headphones or in-ear monitors (I use in-ear). You put the video into the movie software and then put the music over the video, synched up in the right place of course. Macs come with "iMovie" and apparently PC's come with "Movie Maker" these days. Hope this helps!
@octoberdays i love some of their songs like karma police and acoustic version of creep but i'm always hearing kids with the radio gone to their head saying how muse is just a copycat of radiohead which makes me sad :(
@Greekmustard666 - I hear you man. That is a common statement by ignorant fans. When Muse was first starting back in 1996, they were often compared to Radiohead. The truth is that both have gone very different ways in my mind and are their own bands. People only said that because they were British rock bands with unique frontman singers. These days, their music is polar opposite. But you should hop back into Radiohead man. They are the Beatles of our age.
well i've been trying to cover this song too , and i find that it's played with so much splash , specially in chorus , but you just play it on verses : / , well it's only a comment because i think it's a little bit harder , anyway of course it's a great cover , congrats man!
@MrLiveWired - I appreciate the advice but I did that for years. This is the way I prefer to play nowadays. It may change again down the line but this is what I've evolved to. I also like crashing on my ride. I think pingy rides sound silly. But to each's own. You can play however you like. This is what I like.
you can't man. Unless you know some crazy engineer who knows how to use custom software to do it. I can almost bet you anything you'll never find any of these songs without drums.
@drumpolice dude - tr this, i ised the same for razorlight, not all of the songs listed in the magazine will have drumless tracks, but majority will. I used it for razorlight, it's not tabbed 100% accurately but it's good enough - lets face it, i don't think any drmmer plays the song exactly th same as th prevous time!
The best cover i've heard on youtube! My band covers this song and i play the drums for this and you play it the same as me when i have seen others play completely different haha once again well done man
Very awesome cover of this song, as are the rest of your muse covers. I love the band, and I love your drumming to them. Subscribed and I'll definitely use your videos when I need to learn a muse song. ;)
Wow. You really are the best for covering Muse songs. The level of playing, the speed, and overall fluid movement makes it all worth the loading time. It's like watching the actual drummer from Muse play. Except waaaay better =)
Any cymbal is for anything you want to use it for. People thinking that one kind of cymbal is for one kind of music is wrong brother. =) We all get in a box that way.
Yes you do. =) It's more obvious in most of my other vids. I don't always take a lot of time picking an angle which makes seeing some things difficult sometimes.
Thank you very much!! I would love to give you some tips but I'm not exactly sure what parts to give you tips for. Any particular place or thing you can think of?
well I think that im okay i suppose. But i just need tips on how to like ... invent new beats or improve fills. But also whats the best way to do covers of songs and how should i make my drum kit bigger as i have limited space so would like to make it better but i dont know the best way to do that.
I will happily give you the best advice I think I can offer!! I had a drum teacher when I got my first kit. He told me to play to my favorite albums as much as possible. Get good headphones (I use Shure in-ear headphones) and try to play exactly what your favorite drummers play. That was 13 years ago. I STILL listen to my favorite songs' drum parts very carefully and play and rewind over/over again till I get the exact part. This = BEST thing you can do outside of paying for weekly lessons!
Well thanks very much i've only got those really awful ipod earphones that will propbly brake in about a day so i will try get those ones.... also can i try adsd you as a friend on youttube as i have recently got a camera and would maybe like to show you my drum vids when i manage to get them up! xD
I'd be happy to! You can keep them private and invite only me to see them if you'd like! =) Also, the Shure E2C in ear monitor/ headphones are probably the best thing you can buy for what I'm telling you to do. Warning! They are expensive!! (70-100 USD) But they are MORE than worth your money! Cheers man.
That being said, when you can read drum music (which is much easier than guitar/piano/etc), I highly endorse playing from as many books as you can get. Just because I enjoy playing my favorite bands' music the most, does not mean you should cut out the basics. Rudiments and wood-shedding repetitive practice are absolutely vital. And using a metronome while playing to them is equally vital.
This was spot on! Perfect! In fact as i am writing this i am watching it for the second time and i cant see the video because i had to scroll down to write this and you could seriously mistake it for the real version, in fact to some degree this sounds better! Outstanding job!
All my specs and equipment are on my page. But I tend to use Vic Firth Terry Bozios. They are longm light yet strong, and feel balanced. Perfect for a taller guy like me.
what impresses me the most about your playing is how close it is to the recorded version - I mean, it's not exact but still closer than most people would play it. Keep up the good work
Great Job Man! I'm a metal drummer and I'm scaling back to one kick drum and a 4 pc kit so I can work on improving my grooves so MUSE is some fun stuff to play.
I like your relaxed yet tight style and your drum covers are spot on!
Thank you man! I have a deep respect for all metal and the musicians who play it tastefully. (I'm a closet slipknot fan, but I tend to be telling more and more people so I'm coming out of the closet. haha!)
I don't own any black or death metal stuff. It's a bit too much for me. But whenever I catch a video or a performance, I love watching all the musicians and especially the drummer. Hi respect. It's good to round out your toolbox man! =) Thanks again for the kind words.
lol..yeah i get it man... so pretty much.. i have to guess the timing? all im doing with the cam corder is recording me playing..nd i use the computer to add the music?
Ohhhhh! I have in-ear-headphones in man. I see what your saying. No, you have to play to the song. The best way to do that is to put on headphones of some sort. Obviously this will ensure you stay on time.
THEN you put the footage on your computer and put the song over it.
[so again, I'm wearing headphones but they are really small and in my ear so you can't see them. Lots of people use giant headphones. You just want something that will be able to block out enough and let you hear music!]
Well, you did just almost doubt Muse, so as an official cult member, I'm tempted to kill you :P
But yea, I know what you mean. It just felt like the last Album was more geared towards mainstream. I'm not saying it was mainstream, but it felt like that's how the producers wanted it to end up being.
have you heard the iTunes clips of the resistance...it's hard to say, but it might be my least favorite album of theirs to date...it's very electronic and i just don't know if I like it...
yea that deff. helps. but answer me one more thing...no matter how stupid i sound..lol..how do you get to put the music on the camera nd hear it with the same timeing..u kno waht im saying?
Ah. Yeah. I know what your saying. So you need a computer for that. I have a Macbook. Your computer has to have the right software. Macbook pros come with "iMovie." PCs need "Movie Maker" I think. There several programs for each.
You upload the video on your computer and then add the music. You can't just put the music on your camcorder. Got it?
hey man, i was just wondering, can you tell me how you recorded this video, im trying to record something, and get the same sound quality, but i dont exactly kno how or anything, can you help me out. Thanks.
Well man, I don't have a lot to tell you. I have regular miniDV camcorder with no special mics whatsoever. It was like $200.00 or something. You can get it at bestbuy.
I think I just hit hard enough to come through at the right volume. I don't do anything special or have any other equipment.

Apparently its suppose to have a lot of epicness. Then again it is Muse.

Yes. Well, I hope that I like it more than the last album. I loved it, but I just loved the others so much more. =(
Maybe I'm totally out of line, but I can't help it. I have faith though.

Haha! Yes. I agree totally.

have you heard the iTunes clips of the resistance...it's hard to say, but it might be my least favorite album of theirs to date...it's very electronic and i just don't know if I like it...

yea that deff. helps. but answer me one more thing...no matter how stupid i sound..lol..how do you get to put the music on the camera nd hear it with the same timeing..u kno waht im saying?
AmErIcAnDrEaM42 2 years ago
Ah.
Got it?
That should help! =)

hey man, i was just wondering, can you tell me how you recorded this video, im trying to record something, and get the same sound quality, but i dont exactly kno how or anything, can you help me out. Thanks.
AmErIcAnDrEaM42 2 years ago
Well man, I don't have a lot to tell you. I have regular miniDV camcorder with no special mics whatsoever. It was like $200.00 or something. You can get it at bestbuy.
I think I just hit hard enough to come through at the right volume. I don't do anything special or have any other equipment.
Does that help? =)
