No matter what drum legends exist alive or dead I find more enjoyment listening to dave weckl than any others even than buddy rich. Dave Weckl has so much creativity in his playing and is so incredibly musical. He is a band all by himself. I listen to his solos with more pleasure than a whole band. Drums would be a lesser instrument without the existence of Dave Weckl. Many drummers can play polyrythems, jazz, rock, double bass, and whatever else but no one plays more musical than Dave!

NOTICE all you drummers out there young and old. this guy doesnt have a bunch of laundry stuffed in his bass drum to kill the tone of the wood. because he knows how to tune a drum! too many of you guys on youtube stuffing your bass drum to kill the sound and putting up "instructional" videos on how to tune one! I did it too 25 years ago til Dom Famularo showed me how not to if the drums were of a quality wood type like maple or birch. I guess I need to take time to make a video too.

Two things... Drumming is a competetive sport. Drumoffs guitar center championships and such so knock off the playworld that all drummers aren't competitive. Two.. to the knucklehead that said Dennis Chambers plays this better.. In your fucking dreams and his only. Chambers can't even wipe Dave's ass so you and that fat fuck Tony Williams wannabe can never be timeless like Dave is going to be. Why ? Me and my friends were in Wien on sterns concert and I was recording his solo,and this asshole saw that and during his solo he told to his drum tech to get me out from the club.he is great player...that is only thing he is great...

I attended a clinic of his and he politely asked a person in the first row to shut off his camera. He explained he does not own his copyrights.

People go to clinics to physically be there, otherwise they just buy the DVDs...so people who would pay for and attend my clinic wouldn't all of a sudden not give me their money because someone provided them with 2 minutes of 100 times compressed HandyCam footage online for free rofl
