This is awful! The acting is poor, the singing is even worse. I don't know this actor, so I can't judge whether it's lack of talent or lack of a good director. And actually I don't care- They destroyed one of the best musicals out there.
This is by far my most favorite introduction to the song with the interaction between the Beast and Belle. I also loved the set, and the lighting. I know that some people are being fussy about the acting that the Beast does during the song, but I found that I actually really liked it. I can see how it would be really hard to see how far to take the acting, especially in that costume, but I thought it was very well done.
the people who are complaining about blocking or acting need to lay off. You don't think about the fact that it isn't the actor who arranges this, it's the director. The actor takes what the director says and tries to put what he thinks it should be into it, but bottom line is that it's the directors vision.
Why is he acting out every single thing he sings? And he's singing it to the audience which is a big mistake cause it should be like him realizing what he did, not explaining it to the audience... It sucks...
@SjoerdSchokker i have a feeling you don't act. He's looking @ the audience because he's supposed to look @ the audience. I've been acting for 8 years and every director you will ever have no matter what says "look at the audience" or "never turn your back from the audience". so clearly you shoudn't comment about acting unless you have a slight bit of backround knowledge in the subject.
Is this show somewhere available for downloading or has it someone for trade? I wouldn´t ask for this but it´s really really good and I´d love to watch it whole!
a bit camp for a beast but not bad vocal bit dodgy in places "hints at kindness", "who" "seen" "been" "onwards" scooping the notes in a few places really nice tone though, good "me" at the end its a very hard vowel to do on the F
A classical Baritone is from F to F... so this song could be a little hard at the end. But Baritone is also used as a term for Tenors who can't hit the high C..
I LOVE this song, and I've heard it so many times that I started singing a harmony with this version, and IT SOUNDS SO COOL! That doesn't mean I'm a good singer, though. I just mean that if there was some way that Belle could sing a harmony at some point... man, that would be sooooo cool!
hey guys. it seems that experts are everywhere on youtube (or they like to act that way anyway). I'm also playing the role of the beast but i'm starting to stress because it requires a lot of shouting and which makes me lose my voice. and my singing isn't that great let alone with a sore throat. any help? and this beast is a great actor and singer
that was great man! the singing was a bit flat some places but still great...how old were you? My church always does 1 musical a year and its a big production with high schoolers and we did Disney's Beauty and the Beast and I played the Beast also it was my 2 show but first lead so my acting is so so lol but i have a video of this song and the reprise if u wouldn't mind checking out just go to my channel and its not hard to find again great job. btw i am also a bass 2...
You presented this as a actor who sings, ie, you act better than you sing. Keep in mind, it's not a bad thing. This song just needs to have a very solid singer behind it. As a singer 1st and an actor 2nd myself, I hear a lot of details in your pitch that need to be addressed. Most of them can be fixed with three suggestions: 1: watch your vowel shapes. 2: don't belt; use your head and chest voice where appropriate (vowels will help this) & 3: Reduce your movement and breathe! Great job otherwise
It seems to me that you worked mostly on facial and vocal expressions. You portrayed in those two areas what the song says. And I think that's more important, yeah, all actors in musical theater should probably work on the different techniques on singing. But facial expressions during the song, and external expressions are important too. So, great job in portraying the words through your body and voice.
Have to say, I'm a big fan of the show...and just got to see the fairwell performance on Broadway this past July. Loved Steve Blanchard, but honestly, this is my favorite portrayal of my favorite song.
Great feeling, great "beasting," great voice! (Seen my share of Beasts while working with Disney, and this is one of the best.)
This is my favorite song in the entire show. lol I would stand backstage with our Gaston and listen to our Beast sing this EVERY NIGHT. lol Brought me to tears. Such a gorgeous song. I think the director made a mistake having you move around so much and giving you so much "choreography."
My high school does the acting and singing better.......
