  • Yep BS indeed. I love the venting/fit of my second RX7.

    I dread changing Visors.

"Old mate" seems to struggle, even having done it many times (I'm sure) and knowing if he breaks anything - replacements are on hand.

I bet this is "take 27" as well.

  • Bullshit. Just fitted new holders, set the visor

Without the pods on put the pods back and have just spent the last 30 minutes and my visor is still on the table. My hands are too sore to carry on. Thanks arai

  • this is BS - i`ve snapped 3 pods carrying out this procedure to the letter.

  • i wish it was that simple... otherwise mine is broken...

  • i have to watch this tutorial every time i need to change my visor...

  • fucking hard as shit

  • "Thats how easy it is to replace a visor on an arai helmet" Fucking bullshit

  • I'm sure arai have made it as difficult as possible so we either break it or need help changing it, therefore getting more money out of us. Everytime I've needed to change my visor I'd psyche myself up put it on the kitchen table then chicken out!!

  • I had a Condor for 4 years, just replaced with an Axces. Initially I struggled with the Condor but got the hang of it and eventually found it quite quick and easy. However, the new Axces is doing its very best to stop me changing visors. The mechanism on the LHS seeems to jam, expecially with the smoked visor. I'll be taking it back and if they can't fix it I'll be looking for a refund or replacement.

  • This should be a demonstration event at the next Olympics. Skill, dexterity, patience and a above all else, pure dumb luck. Only took me 20 minutes but I must have watched this video 10 times. The trick is to add a little dab o' that silicon lubricant. And when that fails add some to the helmet and it slips in a little easier. Not much, just a little.

  • not as easy as it looks :/

  • Either this is rigged or I have a defective helmet. I took it to the dealer and he replaced the mounts (at my expense of course) and even then it took him about 15 minutes to put on a new face shield after the plates went on. If anyone from Arai can change my faceshield without parts popping off the helmet, I'll buy a new helmet of my helmet's original value. We can put it on video to show how wrong I am and how truly easy this is :) PS I really do love the Profile, but seriously...

  • They cannot be done that quick on the ones I own. I usually end up breaking out in a sweat just changing my visor. I have owned arai's for 10 years too. Stupid design.

  • Thank You for the cake walk....It is too simple....Dear "Eatlessrunmore"--Please attempt with patience...It does seem like you are breaking it but it is pretty strong for that....If i can -you can- my fellow riders....Cheers !!!

  • It is not easy to change an Arai helmet. I like my Arai RX7GP very much indeed, but it is difficult to sawp the visor and all the time you will worry that you're damaging a very expensive product. It is needlessly difficult. My previous Shoei was a dream to change.

  • just gave this a try took me about a minute to get it off n put it back on again, thanks

  • I love my rx7 but when it comes to changing the visor i feel like throwin it across the room...

  • great video and great helmet light and full of features but buyer beware... changing the visors is insanely difficult for the price you pay... have changed scorpion exo 700 and shoei.s and never had this much trouble switching visors for day and night. the visors come off if you do it right... then putting the new one on is the worst ...

  • great helmet light and full of features but buyer beware... changing the visors is insanely difficult for the price you pay... have changed scorpion exo 700 and shoei.s and never had this much trouble switching visors for day and night. the visors come off if you do it right... then putting the new one on is the worst ...

  • Who is this magician in the video? Give the helmet to a normal person instead and watch them struggle and curse for ten minutes trying to get the visor off, which still is easier than getting it back on again.

Every time I have to remove my visor I swear to never buy an Arai again.

  • what reference is this helmet?? i love it.....

  • ive been trying for 1 hour and i still cant fit it! its all new, im scared i fucked up the helmet. how can a helmet , maybe one of the best helmets in the world, but the most idiot visor lock =S=S

  • Thank you John! Just took the visor off my Arai for the first time to clean it and was afraid of breaking it trying to put it back in! You made it simple. Thanks!

  • thats funny...when i changed to my illegal smoke visor it wasnt nearly that easy.

  • It's only that easy when you've got a modified helmet with a clear section on the side and a visor greased up to the max. Expect to spend much longer crunching and cracking your visor into place then cleaning all the finger prints off. Not good when you've shelled out nearly £600 for a helmet!

  • amaizing ! we're more than 64000 persons having (who needed to ??) see this vidéo ! i love you araï but dont like your visor !

  • jesus! took my 45min to switch visor, nut perhaps now its more easy. It sounds so much when trying to make the visor fit, i thought i was gonna break it a few times but now its on and look perfect =) thanks for the video

  • Amazing, John, you make it look so simple. But it isnt at least for me. Maybe because the one I got is brand new but it has to be pressed / pushed with much more strnght than in the video. Also when trying to reattach the left lever vanishes into the pod, so have to go ad pick it up with a pointy object. In the end I have to place both levers at mid point before reinserting the visor.

Maybe I should do some pod attachment screws fine tuning?

  • Great video - thanks. Love my Arai Chaser and can now change the visor with no fear of snapping the side pods!

  • Its not that bad if you hold the helmet in the same position as he does took a few goes but when it finally went in it seems pretty easy - thanks

  • Umm, nice video but I'm still unable to remove the visor, the levers always go back in when i try to remove the visor... The levers dont even come up as much as in the video? pfft..

  • @Finrokr Update: the problem was that I had not taken the visor off and lubricated the touching plastic parts~. I had to have the side panels/visor removed in the place where I bought the helmet, but now it works perfect, very easy to remove and replace the visor.

    Sorry for my english :p

  • Haaaa ... that was really helpful !!!

    Thanks a lot !!!

  • Haha once you figure it out IT IS SO EASY. Now I can do it in like 10 seconds as opposed to 15 minutes of not doing it

  • It is even easier to do it than he makes it look. Dont blame the helmet cause you are doing it wrong.. You just need to do it right. Also the small plastic parts that break away in an accident are supposed to do that. If they dont break away they could catch on something or cause stuctural damage to the shell.

I can change a brand new right out of the box arai visor is about 3 second. Thats off and back on. Stay tuned. Ill post it

  • An RX-7 saved my life, so I'll put up with the visor troubles.

  • I have a corsair and I never had any problems with visor replacement. I never had problems putting it back it either. but I am having an issue with the side panels. I recently had an accident and broke the right panel (cheap ass miniscule piece of plastic holds it in place) and I wanted to put one from an old arai helmet and attach it to my new one. but was unable to take it off (I dont want to break it by putting too much force) has anyone ever taken off the side panels without breaking them?

  • this video is very missleading.

sure it's easy when you've done it 1000's of times across variations of the same design. its not the first few times when you're not sure how much pressure it requires and then end up breaking a tiny but fundamental piece of plastic.

  • fucking arai sucks in shield replacement. absolutely rediculous! this guy on the video is full of shit

  • Stupid Arai helmets. LAME!!!!!!! The visor won't come out. Might be easy on a new helmet, but not if you actually ride and your helmet gets a little dirty.

  • I took my visor off once and took me an hour to put it back on. I took off the side panels to put the visor back so now i'm scared to take it off again.

  • The visor system on Arai's is the biggest crock of shit ever.

If only the put more thought and effort into devising the change system, like they did on the actual helmet, it would make a world of difference.

  • BS!!! I had to take the helmet to the dealer,It took 3 different guys to get the visor in.If I ever see this prick in the video,I will kick is faggot ass

  • I think I did it faster than the guy in the video, I dont know what you guys are having problems with, I just changed both both of my arai's rx-7 and vector ...no prob.

  • This helmet is a bitch to change the visor. I thought I broke the helmet then kept shoving it with full force finally I raged out and it went in lol

  • D116

It is an Arai Condor Neevsey (Micheal Neeves rep)

  • worst visor change system ever!!!!but still is perfect helmet!!!

  • Yup...broke a piece of the side tonight. I'll be buying a Shoei next time just because of the sheild change system. This has been a pita for every Arai helmet and model I've had.

  • What is the name of that paint scheme on that Arai?

  • This video helped a lot. The visor is actually easy to change. Watch the video carefully and visualize where the lever is. Lastly, do not overly force anything in, as it slips on rather easily!

    It's all about feel.

  • It's the whole Ninja thing w/ them! There really isn't a way to show you how to do this like the experts on paper or video. It took me about 10 tries to get it right. My buddy damaged his visor trying. It's a "feel" thing. I actually got better by closing my eyes (using the "force?") when I did it. No matter how stupid this system is, there is no other helmet in the world I would want to crash in than an Arai. My head is worth the price and hassle of visor system!

  • it took me 5 hours to change my visor. fuckin peice of shit!!

this guy must be an elf cos he made it look god dam easy!

  • This video definitely helped me after I watched it. I was able to change my visor thanks to this video i did it. PS I have a heavy smoke visor and love it in the bright sun!

  • this helped immensely. i fought with the visor for quite awhile before watching this video. thanks!!!!

  • I just purchase a Corsair V and this visor mechanism is fucked!!!

When I bought it I thought "how hard could it be?" What a fucking nightmare!! and in the process I have scuffed and scratched my new helmet!!

Nice helmet but what a shame about this visor shit....be warned

  • I challenge anyone one, anywhere to find an explanation on removing the shield on an Arai open face classic flip shield. Even on Arai's site there is no explanation. Is this held as a secret for some reason?

  • Arai customer support is terrible.

I have a shoei rf1000 and an arai classic. both fit equally well. the difference in customer support is day and night. Arai is horrible. Shoei is great. Arai has no support. try to download a manual on Arai. Go to thier website and try to get contact info. I have had return calls from shoei. last Arai I'll ever purchase.

  • what to do if there is no leaver? :(

  • It took me a few attempts, but i got there in the end......you experts make it look soooo easy!

  • Everyone else find it easy to change the visor? Cos I'm buggered if I do!

  • is dark visors illegal?

  • In the UK they are.

  • wot model of Rx7 is thus?

  • he looks quite happy to do that so much. He has probably broken dozens of helmets in practice

  • My levers broke off (well one did) and it's so much easier to get the visor off just putting your finger between it and the helmet (where the lever used to push up into). I used to really struggle pulling the damn thing out, now it's instant and there no cracking plastic sounds to scare me. I used to prefer my Shoei X-Spirit mechanism, but since the 'break' I've gone back to my Arai. I'll always just remove the levers from my Arais now.

  • After a few successful changings, the inevitable, side pod broken. F**ck Arai, i´d never buy one of their helmets again unless they change that sh***y system.

  • Ifg I ever meet the person that designed the Arai mechanism I will hurt them. Physically and mentally. Then I will kill them.

  • I just bought the Rx-7 Corsair Hopkins Monster as my first helmet ever and i've heard that the visor is a pain to change, so I took mine off and about an hour later i had it back on... I went to youtube to see how people were getting back on. I wont be taking it off again cause I feel like I am going break something. But other then that I love the helmet.

  • Yeah I've not long had an arai and the visor change mechanism just didn't seem right to me either and I swore i wouldn't be doing it again but there is a knack of doing it. Once you get used to it, it really is easy and I think the mechanism itself 'wears in' after a few attempts. I lift the little levers up at the same time with my thumbs and then lift/lever the visor upwards. looks bloody great with a black visor! keep tryin bro, you'll get the hang of it!! happy ridin dude.

  • hey man how much did u pay for your dark visor?

  • Comment removed

  • I feel exactly the same about mine mate. The sound of plastic bending and cracking is ridiculous!

  • hjc have an easier mechanism, open visor, push clip, get new visor, place arrow on visor to match up with arrow on latch and push.

they also tested as being able to withstand more g's in an impact as arai and shoei, shark beath them as well

  • its very easy

and the best visor change system

i change my visor about 2-3 times per day

only the first time its little difficult .

  • After spending half an hour trying to change my Visor following the instructions provided with the lid and thinking I was going to break it, I turned to google and found this video.

30 mins later I had the visor back in.

After years of owning Shoei helmets I'm back to cleaning visor in situ as the Arai Visor system is crap. I'm pretty pissed off, 400 quid for a helmet and it's a nightmare to change the visor.

I wish I had stuck to Shoei, their system is simply superb.

  • fkn right

  • thank you so much I have that helmet and I had a hard time, that clear side view was perfect. :)

Is there a accessory that carries the spare shields? :)

  • yes

  • HOW DO I DISMANTLE THE HOLDER SET?

  • thank u

  • I've heard that Shark has the best visor change mechanism, but we don't have a reseller near here

  • Broke one of friend's side pod... cost $35 and another $35 for flying it halfway round the world :(

1 out of 100 people can remove Arai visor easily.

I love Shoei, never bought Arai :)

  • Got both, arai is easily more comfortable over longer journeys - XR1000 vs Corsair. Again, view one of my vids to show how a visor change is done. Only clumsy people manage to break arai visors and sidepods! I told my mate how to change his visor on his new arai in 5 mins and he mastered the technique - couldn't stop playing with it afterwards, you start to fidget with it!

  • I just found out that some of Arai are easy and some others are harder to replace. I checked on about a dozen of RX7. Even last month I found one of the sidepod are not equally made (a little plastic stood out) on an Corsair V !!!

I understand that Arai is keeping this system until now... but there are lots of other way which are easier and simpler.

    No offence.

  • Not ver helpful at all. Is he trying to br funny? Not very funny, either.

  • Heh heh.. try changing the visor on a SOL . Felt like the visor might crack at any minute .

  • Changing my visor was a piece of cake. I can see how the sides might brake if you put too much pressure on them but you need to know when what you are doing is not working and try something else. It literally took me 30-45 seconds to change my visor the first time I tried.

  • how come urs look so easy.....i've been putting my new visor for 2 hrs and it still wouldnt get in..i even tried putting the orginal visor back but it wouldnt get in...

  • I can't help thinking that someone connected with Arai is realising that their visor change mechanism is a piece of poo. Check out a Shoei. Changing visors is a piece of cake. You won't nee a video showing you how on You Tube (some bugger will go and make one now). Also there's no £25 sidepod covers to break off.

  • I so agree, Arai's "smart" visor change system must be one of the most poor engineering jobs I've ever seen .. Too bad I paid a lot of money for my helmet and can't return it for that reason

  • Practise... view my videos and it's a 3 stage process. Basically, pull both tabs upwards like you pull a trigger of a gun, then yank the visor up beyond 45 degrees and it'll come off piss easy. To put it back on, slot the visor in at 45 degrees, bash it down until you hear a click and close the visor. Be vigorous and assertive and it won't break. I can change a visor with the lid on my head whilst on the bike- can't do that on my shoei XR1000 - not within 10 seconds at least.

  • why the fuck doesn't Icon have a vid like this? Those are a bitch

  • Agreed GuyGraham43. I love the arai helmets, and i find the visor removal mechanism easy to use. However I know of friends who have broke the clips. These should be sold for a fifth of the RRP! it really is shocking!

  • Thanks for this. Was actually struggling with mine. Arai make the best helmets, with by far the worst visor change mechanism. Wouldn't go back though.

And please don't tell me what colour visor to wear, that ain't your business.

  • I agree with you, i have an Arai Corsair Nakano Replica (made in japan) and it's the heaven of helmets, but the visor change system is worst than my chinese Zeus helmet.

  • Why dousn't Arai make he side pods fixings more substancial,My helmet is comming uo for renewal and I will not be buying an Arai therfore Arai looses more than £25 which is an absolute RIP OFF!!!!!!!

  • I must be a clumsy fool unless i'm not alone. The tabs which hold those pods in keep breaking on me. Taking the visor on and off over time flexes the pod. The 3 tabs holding the pod in is plastic and through fatigue eventually break. Heartbreaking to pay any amount of money to replace a pod because of one tiny tab.

  • Neerrr i can do it on my head - why don't u teach that? Why not order the sidepods from singapore or hong kong or USA instead since its much cheaper. Definitely one to look out for. I think the whole point of owning an arai is to stick the proverbial dark tint visor on it - any other colour is waste of 40-50 quid.

  • I agree very easy but not durable

After repeated changes the side pods keep popping off which means new ones at the extortionate price of £25 & that doesn't include the base holders

Please John, explain how you can justify £25 for 2 pieces of plastic, which have a manufacturing cost of pence

Let me give my theory -- we'll charge what we like coz you can't get them anywhere else except form Phoenix Dis

You should change your name to Dick Turpin, coz is highway robbery, and blatant profiteering
