Rest in peace my brother. Just another example of Charles Kaupu's many gifts and talents he shared with the world. Iesu pū e kuʻu hoapili...Aloha oe e Kauhi.... until we meet again.
They played this in Eugene, OR where I am. I love this song. Its funny cause you wouldn't think a big guy such as charles would be such a graceful dancer! haha
I went to the Hapa concert a few months ago.. & in contrary to popular belief, the song has little to do with surfing. It's just a metaphor for actual meaning. Hawaiians didn't openly sing about the act of making love...
The song is "He'eia," originally a traditional chant about surfing for King David Kalakaua. The man in the yellow shirt is Kumu Hula Charles Ka'upu and the wahine dancer on the right is the Miss Aloha Hula 2002 (forgot her name.) Mahlo for posting!

The dancer you can see the most is Pi'ilani Klein, running for Miss Aloha Hula this year, and the other is Malia Ann Petersen, Miss Aloha hula 2002
